Is this a good computer for Gaming?!?

No, that's not good.

You'll need a more powerful processor, especially for recent games. If you want to play Battlefield, Skyrim, Old Republic and possibly games that come out in the future you'll be wanting a system with an Intel i5 processor at least. The Intel i5-2400 is the cheapest processor I would purchase. It has 4 cores and great speed. There are cheaper AMD chips with 4 cores but they don't have anywhere near the performance of the i5. The i3(which only has two cores) equals or exceeds most of the AMD chips with 4 cores in gaming, simply because games usually don't use more than 2 cores. However to get that speed you will be sacrificing the extra cores, which will effect you in other tasks and when games start to come out that use more cores at once you will definitely take a hit. Step up to the i5, it's got Intel speed and just as many cores. The i5-2500k is the best gaming chip on the market right now. It equals or out performs even the highest chips when properly overclocked and can be had for just over $200. (Less if you have a microcenter near you, they frequently have it for $180)

If you're buying prebuilt and never plan to overclock, just look for i5-2400. If you want to overclock you'll need the i5-2500k.

Second the GT520 is a very low end video card. It would have trouble running the games you listed in "low" settings. It's not that much better than the on board graphics most motherboards come with these days. You'll want something equal or greater than the GTS 450(from Nvidia) or 5770(from AMD) to be able to play those games even at medium settings with decent fps. To max them out you'd need a very expensive video card(200+) and judging from the specs you posted you're on a budget. Try to get a 6850 if you can find a good deal on one, otherwise a GTS 450 or 5770 should be okay for medium settings.

Best Gaming Computers?

For gaming, definitely go with a desktop. It's hard to get decent gaming performance on laptops for under $1000, and they aren't upgradeable later on.

While the absolute best value for your dollar comes building from scratch, there are plenty of better deals. The first system isn't good for gaming- the graphics card is worthless and would have to be replaced, the processors is also rather slow.

Here's a much better (and cheaper) choice:

Building from scratch you could get something much more powerul. Or you could spend another $150 to upgrade the graphics card and power supply on the this computer. But for WoW and Empire Total War, it wouldn't be necessary.

What would be a good computer to use for gaming?

You generally don't want to buy a computer as a single piece because that gets needlessly expensive.Currently, the absolute Max performance you can get from any hardware currently in circulation is a combination of:An NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan VAn Intel Core i7 8700K or an AMD Ryzen 2700XAs much RAM as you can fit on your motherboardAnd an SSD.However, if you can wait a month, you can buy a GTX 2080 ti which is supposed to be significantly faster than a Titan V, although you should probably check some actual benchmarks before buying it rather than just taking Nvidia's word for it.Also Intel is supposed to release the 9000 series processors sometime in the possibly near future, I'm not entirely certain. That said, the above components really aren't the best value for money, particularly the Titan V is overpriced, actually the prices of Graphics cards and Ram in General are very high right now.

Is this Gateway computer a good gaming computer?

I went to Best Buy and saw this computer- Gateway® SX2841-09e Desktop
http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668741.php
If i were to purchase this computer, I would use it for gaming. The one game i'd mainly use it for is The Sims 2. The guy at our local Best Buy told us that it could easily handle the game, but the last time my sister bought a computer for gaming and asked about that game, one employee told us it was very unlikely with the laptop she purchased, but the computer crashed several weeks later. I'd like a second opinion. Thanks! :)

Are gateway computers good computers for gaming?

only the gateway fx's are good for gaming
depending on your model, i cant tell if it is good for gaming
like i said, the fx line is purely for gaming
otherwise, the slimline, and the others are more home orriented
if you want to look for some gaming computers, newegg is my 1st choice
they have the most common gaming computers : ibuypower and cyberpowerpc
unlike alienware, they are not as expensive
depending on your buidget, you can look around for some good computers
but remember, these days, if you dont want to keep rebuying computers, you're going to need at least a quad (i5 750 2.66ghz, amd phenom ll 925-965, any i7 processor, amd phenom x6)

i will give you some links in all price ranges

I would like a good computer for gaming. I'm a casual gamer and I would enjoy the portability of a laptop. What computer should I get?

A good gaming laptop isn't worth the money in my opinion. Build yourself a PC and if you don't know how, look at Youtube and read articles about it - there are loads out there - I'll namedrop LinusTechTips on Youtube for some quality build guides. As for what should go in the PC, it all depends on how much you want to spend. A few simple rules:Don't be cheap when it comes to your power supply. Get one with enough headroom for any upgrade you might want but don't get one with so much wattage that half of it is wasted or never used. Make sure it's at least bronze certified and get it from a trusted brand - Corsair or Thermaltake for example.Don't go for the biggest and best graphics card. The $150-$200 range is more than enough for most people and gives good 1080p performance in 90% of games. Stick to this rule while trying to get a card with the most vram - and don't get a card with less than 2gb of vram. You don't need a great CPU for gaming. An i5 will be more than enough for gaming.RAM isn't expensive. Get as much as you can afford from a known brand. Make sure it's compatible with your motherboard.Soundcards are generally a waste of money. The space required for games is increasing all the time. GTAV for example requires at least 65GB. Make sure you get a large enough hard drive/hard drives to accomodate any games you might buy.SSDs are a good choice for a dedicated operating system drive. Get one with at least 80-120GB of storage.
