Is This A Good History Fair Topic Help

What is a good IB history IA topic?

You need to be able to write 2000 words, and my teacher told me that we have to analyse two primary sources. (This is why it is advised you pick something from the 20th century - much more access to primary sources).  The topics that are best are ones you have done in class and/or at GCSE level [or whatever previous exams you have done, depending on what country you live in].  - Votes for Women  - World War One/Two (the front lines)  - The Home Front (evactuaions, air raids, rations, etc)  - Treaty of Versailles (and other peace conferences)  - Holocaust  - Hitler's Germany  - The Cold War   Pick a topic you like and form a question around it.  Some other title ideas could be:  - What Effect Did the First World War Have on British Women?  - How did Britain's Relationship with Germany Change Throughout the 20th Century?  - To What Extent was the Atom Bomb the Main Reason Why The Allies Won the Second World War?  - To What Extent Were the People of Germany Aware of the Jewish Situation During World War Two?

What are some good topics for the Illinois History Fair?

Here's one for you:

The history of barbed wire. It seems a mundane subject but it indirectly led to a fortune for an Illinois resident.

Barbed wire was invented in DeKalb. A salesman who profited handsomely from barbed wire was John 'Bet a Million' Gates who went on to found the Texas Oil Company (later known as Texaco). Gates hit it big when he invested his barbed wire profits in oil drilling and hit one of the richest oil strikes in Texas history: Spindle Top. It still produces oil to this day. Gates niece in St. Charles, IL inherited most of Gates’ fortune

Illinois’ importance as a rail center

Why Chicago was almost part of Wisconsin. (The original state line of Wisconsin / Illinois was south of what is now Chicago.)

How the city of Chicago was raised ‘out of the mud’ by George Pullman, before he went on to manufacture railroad cars.

The Columbian Exposition of 1893 and the largest Ferris Wheel ever built. It had a total capacity of 2,160 PEOPLE!

History fair : thesis statement help?

Your thesis statement- "in my opinion animal cruelty is wrong and that is why it is a crime is all of our states" isn't bad at all, it doesn't have to be fancy. So you would have this in your opening paragraph follwed by a couple examples or facts that you will be talking about later.

You can say, "It is my personal belief that animal cruelty is uncivilized and moraly wrong. Likely, these are just two of the reasons why it is considered a crime in each of the states." Unfortunately it continues every minute of every day and this is why it is so important to spread awareness. blablabla

There are a lot of simple examples out there on how to write a thesis statement/ paragraph.

Just have your thesis statement in the first paragraph along woth some facts or examples. Try to do research to back up your facts and state where you recieved the info.
