Is This A Good Idea For A Movie

What is a good idea for a movie/book?

Writing a book and writing a movie are completely different things.

Movie (screen) writers have to write visually, meaning they have to write a scene like it was picture but no prose. just direction and dialogue.

Novelists haev to ignite all the senses in a way. They have to set the scene with words, sight, smell, sound, touch, taste.

Both have challenges and quite frankly, if you can't think of an idea on your own, you will never be able to write a complete screenplay or novel on your own.

My advice is to create a character and ask yourself 4 questions:
who is my character?
what does my character want?
what will my character do to get it?
who is going to try and stop my character?

Follow them around for a bit and see what kind of trouble they get into.

good luck

Good ideas for spy movies?

Now what type are you making super spy(in other words super hero type spy) or spy and fed thriller(in other words close to the real world type spy movie).

In a super spy type movie, you DON'T have to get the things right and understand the stuff like what is really black ops, water boarding, presidential intelligence briefing, senate and house intelligence, NORAD, safe house, cipher lock, CIA Analyst, CIA Operation Officer, CIA Operation Officer in Special Activity Division, FBI HRT and so on. The villain can be any thing a mad world president, a government lab project that went wrong and the person look like a cross between red skull and a reptile, and so on. The idea is endless on villains ands story lines in the super spy world.
Examples of famous fictional super spies: Nick Fury, Black Widow, The Man From Uncle, James Bond, Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible movies and The Saint(he is a spy for hire)

In a close to the real world type spy movie (AKA spy and fed thriller), you would have understand to certain point the stuff like what is really black ops, water boarding, presidential intelligence briefing, senate and house intelligence, NORAD, safe house, cipher lock, CIA Analyst, CIA Operation Officer, CIA Operation Officer in Special Activity Division, FBI HRT, MP5SD, HK416, M24, SPMOD M4A1, HALO jump, tier 1, double agent, NSA and so on. The story story lines and villains can not be something that is far-fetched. You DON'T have to be like a spy novelist in this area, they would have know more stuff and do more research. Some of the time parts of their novels don't translate will on the screen. It is rear but once in a while you get a author in this area that have hint of 5-10% of the super spy theme in a mostly close to the real world type spy novel. A well know author that does that is Vince Flynn. By the a close to the real world type spy movie is always a mix of drama and suspense.
Examples of famous fictional close to real world type spies: Jack Ryan, John Clark, Domingo Chavez, Maxwell Moore, Roger Ferris and George Smiley

Also think about the upcoming movie Olympus Has Fallen and past movies like Body Of Lies, Spy Game, The Siege, In The Line Of Fire, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Fail Safe and Clear And Present Danger.

Is this a good idea for horror/ slasher movie ?

First of all, i would like to say that you have a nice sense of creativity. The story is very good. The way "Holiday" kills. It is nice. But, I think the ending was not that great. I didn't like the idea of the friend helping the grandmother just for fame. Maybe you can say that the friend was actually a bit mental or something like that. Maybe you can say the friend was the grandmother's unknown son or grandson. Or else the friend was the father's unknown son. Another thing I felt is that there was too much killing in the beginning. Maybe there was no need for an older brother.
Overall, I think the story is great. I'm just giving opinions. I'm not an expert in script writing. I know nothing about it. It's just my opinion.
I hope you would be successful in making your film. All the best.

Another suggestion. Please organize your question in paragraphs. A long paragraph makes it look boring. Please do consider my suggestion.

If I have a good script idea for a movie, who should I turn to?

First of all: you have no good idea. You have an interesting idea at best. Why’s that?Because ideas ‘per se’ have no ‘inner’ value for the big screen industry. It’s the way ideas are written that makes a script better than another, not the idea ‘per se’.Now comes the main part of my answer. The most difficult part of selling ideas to Hollywood, is talking with the people working there. In other words, what really matters, is being inside Hollywood already. Why’s that?Because producers are not searching for ‘good ideas’… Not at all. They are searching for something entirely different… And it changes every day. They are searching for ‘this and that’, meaning something that will make them do a lot of money NOW, and depending on the everchanging market. And if you don’t know:1) what they are searcing for2) and what they are searching for RIGHT NOW… they will trash your idea for sure even if it’s an ‘interesting’ idea. And again, don’t forget that for ANY idea to be ANY good, it has to be written extremely well, no matter it if it’s just a plot, a script, a short tale or a whole novel… no one will ever enter inside your head and see your idea the way you see it. No one but your friends and family only, because they know you very well. But I don’t think they work in the industry.

If I have a good idea for a movie, whom can I contact without risk of having it stolen?

The problem with Quora questions where someone has a great idea but is worried it will be stolen is that the asker tends to:a) have no experience in the industry to know if it is a good idea or not,b) doesn’t know if the idea has been considered or is already in development because he/she isn't close enough to the industry,c) consider the idea as something he/she personally owns when in most cases ideas will be in the minds of many people and at different levels of progress and competance,d) have an unrealistic view on the eagerness of professionals who live and breath their industry to need to steal an idea and have the time to create it themselves above likely far better concepts being developed.Ideas are just seeds that could turn into something real that might be patentable or be copyrighted. They only have value if they become real in some form either through execution or development enough to be patentable or copyrightable.Irrespective of this, it's great to generate ideas but to succeed you need to be an ideas factory and constantly be funnelling ideas into an evaluation and validation process whereby only the best are created and tested onto the market. So keep it up and start actually creating things with your ideas. Only then will the idea have value and people potentially listen to you.
