Is This A Realistic Story-line For My Book

Name of this realistic fiction book?

Genre: Realistic Fiction
Category: Romance/Drama
Sub-category: Teenage - High School

Narrative Style:
He-said she-said style with the two protagonists alternately presenting their perspective on a shared set of events.

Similar to "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen

Premise: Teenage boy is forced to take out any girl that his friends choose. To his dismay they choose the most "unattractive" girl at the party who has really messy, greasy hair and is not too hot. The group of boys are part of a made-up, secret, all-boys group at school that create challenges surrounding girls. The challenge for the teenage boy is to try to get the girl to sleep within a span of two weeks. The story surrounds the mission from both the girl and boy's view.

I read this book back in 2012/13 so it ranges around this time and/or before.

I don't really remember much else since I read it quite a while ago but I hope this helps!

Fantasy: You focus more on the plot. Realistic fiction: You focus more on the characters. Do you agree?

I disagree.

I think that a *weakness* of poorly written fantasy -- of which, sadly, there is a tremendous amount -- is that character development is sacrificed in the name of the plot. But all that makes it is bad fantasy. The same is true for "realistic fiction" -- when character development is sacrificed in the name of the plot, the book just ain't that good. :)

Re fantasy: Have you read A Song of Ice and Fire, the series by George R. R. Martin? It is the first thing that came to my mind when reading your question, as an example of why I disagree with your premise. It's a fantastic series, and yes, it is very much a fantasy, but what makes it fantastic is the characters. For that matter, just look to the source (Tolkien) for strong characters.

When character development is ignored, the book suffers. No matter the genre. And, frankly, in my opinion, the characters are in some respects far more important than the plot. Interesting characters will be interesting regardless (to an extent) of what's going on and can (and sometimes do) support an otherwise flailing plotline. But a fantastically conceived and brilliantly executed plot can't save crappy characters.

Just my opinion! (That said: if you haven't read the Martin books, I highly recommend you take a look!)

What sort of a storyline do you like your movies/books/TV series/any other related media to have; a realistic storyline or a supernatural one?

A little bit of both. However a little bit of magic, supernatural always spices things up. I've read somewhere -" fiction is reality with the dull bits left out"It's always comforting to watch superhero movies or movies with a magical element, to have belief in some power that we aren't aware of. To see the underdog become a Hero ( Spiderman) or to see how Our biggest fear can become a source of our strength (Batman) to name a few. It's nice to enjoy such movies/books for a break from reality for a whole is fun at times!

Is there a such a job as storyline writer? You don't write the entire book or movie, but just the storyline and the characters. Does that exist?

A smattering of writing jobs immediately come to mind, all of which you’d probably want to do amongst other jobs:Advertising Story-boarder: storyboarding is a huge part of writing presentations, sales pitches, and advertsScreenwriter: it is not unusual to hear of certain individuals write a season of a TV show, or a self-contained episode.Comic book writer: This sort of combines the above two and I would personally love to do this.Video game writer: video games have made some writers very rich, and likewise, some writers, like Andrzej Sapkowski who wrote The Witcher, have made some video game developers a lot of money!Children’s picturebooks: a friend of mine developed the storyline and co-wrote one of these that was the brainchild of an illustratorCorporate PR - often work to themes or narratives that form a storyPolitics - heard of Spin Doctors?

Plot ideas for a teen realistic fiction novel?

hmm... ok so i have read all of the clique books and i am currently writing a fantsy novel.

alright well since your 13 im guessing you dont want to go too mature in these books? the clique series is not what i would call mature and since thats what your aiming to write........

alright well how about i list something that has happened in my life?

- what about a girl whom is very preppy but is best friends with almost all guys. everyone who doesnt know her thinks shes a slut but the guys all know she really isn't. how about she dates one of the guys that she hangs out with and then they have a bad breakup. Its too awkward for them to be around each other but they have the same group of friends.

and theres where i stop you said you didnt want a full on plotline so.... yea that was definatly the story of my life.

i hope this helped =)

I want to write a fictional book on a con artist/criminal mastermind but need help please?

Hi :)
In the midst of the dozens of stories I am writing, another story line came to mind. One of my main characters, Leo, is a con artist/thief/criminal mastermind . Like a Neal Caffrey type from White Collar. However, I have no knowledge on how to write the crimes themselves.

For example, say if my character does a jewelry heist. I know nothing of the tools that would be used during the job. Or the different types of security that a large store might use and what steps it would take to disengage an alarm and stuff like that.

I have no idea where to start my research or what to even type in Google. I would love for my story to be realistic as possible while also being detailed as possible. I don't want to write a heist and it's along the lines of "they broken in and stole the priceless painting." I actually want to write it in a way where you almost feel like you're doing the heist yourself.

I would really appreciate the help.

P.S. and no I am not trying to rob a jewelry store :P They don't even have to be real gadgets or tools. Could be something that at least sounds realistic enough.

Was Forrest Gump, a movie or a novel based on a real story?

Real life 'Forrest Gump' is a Medal of Honor recipient Sammy Lee Davis, a retired US Army soldier and Medal of Honor recipient.Davis was forced to retire in 1984 due to his injuries. Footage of his Medal of Honor award ceremony was used in the 1994 film Forest Gump, with actor Tom Hanks' head superimposed over that of Davis. The military portion is based on fact and Davis and how he earned his medal. The rest of the movie is movie.Source: Wikipedia
