Is This A Safe Thing To Do Online

Is online dating safe?

33,000 people married on eHarmony in one year, according to a study (see Source #1). That's an average of 90 a day - sounds pretty safe.

Overall, yes online dating is safe. But it's also only as safe as you make it. If you're looking for a safer experience:

1) Stay away from the adult dating sites and stick with the relationship/dating sites.

2) Know the signs that the person you are communicating with may be married (see Source #2).

3) Protect your personal information. Don't give your last name or home phone number during your communication stage. Use a free email service like Yahoo versus your regular email address if the communication goes that far (to emailing outside of the service).

4) If you decide to meet, don't allow the person to pick you up. Take your own transportation and meet in a very public place (i.e. Starbucks).

5) If, when you see the person, you sense he/she has lied about things in their profile (height, age, photo) then consider cutting the date short and/or (if you're bold) tell the person that you don't date people who lie in their profile. If the person lied in their profile, they'll lie about other things too.

6) Trust your gut instinct.

Overall, dating is safe, but you can make it safer with your actions. Hundreds of thousands of people have met and married via online dating.

Best of luck and success to you!

What are some tips for safe online shopping in India?

Thanks for A2A.What do you mean by safe online shopping?Technically? When you say, safe online shopping the first thing comes into my mind is whether they are using secured protocols? PCI compliance? For the matter of fact, they are. Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, Groupon etc. all are very careful about the user data. They are very secure.Shopping Experience? All the above company you have mentioned, are in the open war. They want to grab the customer. Thus they try to provide nicest and easiest shopping experience. But what might have gone wrong with you is, you must have bought from those seller who does not provide proper service. There have been cases when the product reached but boxes were empty. Amazon bans them later. Having said that, you should't generalize all the Ecommerce sites as fraud.Things you should do:1) Checkout the product you want from your favorite website. At this point, to start with don't go with the websites who are selling things for cheapest price instead go for more reliable one. Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Groupon are in the list.2) Check for the seller you are purchasing from? For flipkart - if it is WS Retail, they would provide good service as such.3) Check for Product review and Seller review/rating.4) Check for delivery model. Sites like Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra have their own delivery channel. You can rely on them. They would provide better tractability.5) Opt for Cash on Delivery. Which I do not recommend though. Cash on Delivery model, actually backtracking India.6) Use their Bestest (I know this word does not exist) customer service. If you still feel insecure, then seriously, stop buying online.

Is it safe to buy online items from Wal-Mart?

Yes, because you can return things you buy online to any Wal-Mart store if need be. May I also suggest using the Site-to-Store option if it is available to you in order to get free shipping.

What is a safe way to buying a puppy online? What kind of payment would be safe, incase of scam?

I think that you have to be very careful about buying any pet over the Internet. There is no way to be sure that the dog is healthy without a thorough vet exam. You may want to have your regular veterinarian contact the owner's vet (with the owner's permission) and discuss any medical concerns that this pup may have had, and what vaccines it has had. If it does not have a vet, lookout! Even that way, you could still wind up with a pup with some illness or behavior problems.
I hate to be cynical, but I just don't trust people who are willing to sell an animal to someone that they have never met. And $400 is a fair chunk of change! If you do decide to do this, pay some way that you can stop the payment if you get played. The other thing that you may want to do is get a health guarantee, in writing, that says that you will get a refund of the purchase price, if there is anything serious wrong with the puppy.
Hope this helps. I would recommend to get a dog close to home, that you can visit first. It's awfully hard on a dog to jump around from home to home.
