Yes, we both know Batey did more than one count; and in my opinion, he should the rest of his life in prison. Yes, I do know the judge was black, but that still doesn’t discount the fact that our justice system is biased.In the case of turner, I was contrasting the sentencing based on what crimes were committed; Batey raped an unconscious woman, Turner raped an unconscious woman. Regardless of any additional counts, laws in place, state laws, etc., I do feel as if Turner could of at least receive the minimum sentencing in California (3,6,&8 years). Instead, Turner received a lighter sentence for the color of his skin, and the judge overlooked the state law due to the color of his skin and his affluence (hows that a word?).

I traveled a lot in my life, all throughout Europe, the USA and to a few Arab countries.I can confidently say that I’ve never experienced racism first hand, until I came to Quora.I never really gave race much thought. During my travels and life abroad, I made friends of diverse races, and didn’t give it a second thought. I know some of them experienced quite a lot of hardship due to racism, but it never involved me in any way.Until, well, Quora.You see, I made a friend here.First we interacted in the comment section, laughing at the same things, sharing similar views, so we started chatting and got to know one another better.He was funny, deep, modest to a fault, a great dresser, talented writer, silly, adventurous, brave, knowledgeable, and a truly kind human being. We became friends.He mentioned me in his answers.I mentioned him in my answers.He traveled across Europe, and we got to meet and had a fun couple days exploring Zagreb together, laughing and eating desserts.Where is racism here?Wait for it…You see, Habib is black.That fact was completely irrelevant to me, however, I learned that it was crucial to a number of our fellow Quorans.Habib is black and I am white. One example is something I observed when I went into a sundry store at the junction between a city bus line and a county bus line one evening. I walked in, went up and down the rows looking for kleenex or whatever I had gone oiut without, and the clerk ignored me.Three [black] teenagers, all acting very normal and obviously friends did the same thing I had just done, but the clerk made it obvioius that he was following them around the store.When I was their age I never had anybody pay the least bit of attention to me even though I am the kind of person that sort of makes a mental inventory of stores I visit in case at some later time I will need that weird gizmo that let’s you grab screws that have fallen into an inaccessible place, or whatever interesting and possibily useful thing it may be. I almost never would go directly to the kleenex shelf, grab a box, make directly for the cash register and then leave promptly. Nobody cared.

Quora is full of ‘racism” and that is why I no longer answer question concerning race.I find the overwhelming majority of questions to be highly offensive, self-serving, a waste of valuable time and/or trolling. If your question doesn’t fit into those categories, don’t take offense—I’m just not interested.We can talk about other issues, but no longer those that concern race. I do not believe in race or racism. Race is a fake social construct that has no basis in science, genetics, and/or biology. We are all one race. We are genetically 99.99% alike.One last thing, we are biologically wired to fear “The Other,” those who are different from us. Until we evolve, we will always fear/hate/fight/discriminate against “The Others.”
