Is This Considered Bad For A Child To Say

Why is it considered bad luck to name a baby before it is born?

I think it's just a general superstition, and isn't just in the Jewish culture. If you name a baby before it's born and it dies before or during birth it's kind of like you cursed it to die. Same with getting a crib before your first trimester is up..

In the UK why is it considered bad manners for children to say what?

I'm not an expert on this, but I was brought up here, so this is my (probably incomplete) answer. I  think this is about class. "What?" rather than "pardon?" is/was  considered to be a working class way of speaking. Adults (particularly  back in the day) would try to correct children, as middle class speech  was considered more polite and proper. As for why the double standard, I don't know. There are many other  double standards like this though, for example with swearing. I don't  want my children to swear until they know what is the correct context  and audience, but I swear like a trouper.

Is drinking straight vinegar harmful or considered child abuse?

My sister and her husband resort to giving my niece nothing but vinegar when they say she is bad. I am wondering if this is child abuse and what kind of repercussions could result in their actions. She is very scared at this point and honestly I have half a mind to go and get her but don't really know if I have any actual legal standing for it. My niece is 12 years old.

Is swearing in public considered to be bad manners?

I work in hospitality and we are not allowed to swear anywhere where we could be overheard by customers, as cursing can be considered offensive, especially certain words. I would say that yes, swearing in public is bad manners, even if standards are slipping these days making it more socially acceptable. But you'll notice that anyone who works with the public will have to mind what they say, as it's a sackable offense in these kinds of jobs. There's been some hype recently about how swearing a lot is a sign of high intelligence, but the studies are based on how easily cursewords spring to mind, rather than how often a person will use them in everyday conversation, and I would say anyone with good breeding would try to limit their usage to private or ‘safe’ surroundings, or find alternatives that are less offensive, like ‘fudge' or ‘chuff'. My personal favourite, which I dont use around any devout Christians, is ‘Jesus Christ!’ or ‘Oh my frigging God!’ Then I kick something. Then I apologise to a deity, just in case.

What did your child do/say at school that made you appear to be a bad parent?

My daughter has a food obsession. Food is constantly on her mind, and until very recently she had never experienced the feeling of being full. Now, we used to send her to preschool after a hearty and healthy breakfast at home. Then, she asked if she could start having breakfast with her friends, instead. I wasn’t happy with the nutritional value of the meals provided for her by the preschool, or the cost, but I agreed so that she could enjoy the experience of sitting amongst her friends. So, I signed her up for breakfast at preschool. At first, it was very exciting for her. She enjoyed eating with friends, and she enjoyed the chance to eat things that I simply wouldn’t have served at home. Within two weeks her opinion had changed. She asked to return to breakfasts at home.We had a talk about how she couldn’t keep changing her mind. It was difficult for everyone to keep up and wasn’t fair on the staff at her preschool. If she went back to breakfasts at home, that was her final decision. She was otherwise going to confuse the staff and make it very difficult to invoice for the ever-changing costs. She agreed.Months passed, with me feeding her healthy and wholesome breakfasts at home again. Then, one day, I dropped her off at preschool and as I was leaving I noticed that they sat her down at the breakfast table. Of course, I questioned my daughter when I picked her up.As it turns out, she asked me if she could return to having breakfast at home, but then told staff at nursery that whilst I’d cancelled her breakfast with them, I wasn’t feeding her breakfast at home. Staff clearly thought I was starving my child. They didn’t charge me for all of these second breakfasts she was eating, but fed her every morning for a couple of months after I’d asked them to stop serving breakfast. She was eating a huge breakfast at home, then going to preschool and telling them she’d not eaten so that she could get a second breakfast.

Why Is It Bad For Children To Say The Word "Lie" or "Liar".?

One great thing about children I like is their innocence and and that's why kids have a language to their own. Boo-boo, doggy, mommy, daddy, sleepy-bye, potty, pee-pee and the many other words of childhood are magical in their innocence.
The words "lie" and "liar" do not fit in that mold; they are the words of the adult world.
That is why I believe a child should not say these harsh-sounding words and I would replace them with "fib", "fibber" or something childhood sounding.
It won't be long before a child becomes an adult and that magical world with funny names will be lost forever.

Should a child be punished for saying 'So long, suckers!'?

I hate to hear a young child say, "that sucks" but saying someone is a sucker is totally different.
If you have decided that the word is off limits and taught your child its a big bad word then that would be another story.
I wouldn't punish for it, at least the first time. If you decide its not allowed after that then the rules can change.
I'd be willing to bet the words came right from a TV show. Maybe even a cartoon.
Teach him to say "Lets blow this Popsicle stand" for his next dramatic exit !
Boys, can't find better entertainment!
