Is My Husband Being Honest About Craigslist ?

I appreciate the advice. I re-read my post & in a way, it may sound as if I am insecure, jealous. No, not really. I am fairly attractive and in decent shape. My husband is unhappy with himself. What I didn't put in there is our history. I found a few issues a year ago. I trusted him completely, never looked at his stuff or checked his e-mail before then. He was definitely actively looking online for other women, but never actually contacted anyone as far as I know. He told me it started out as porn, then he no longer wanted to look at fake women on video, but real women. There were other things I found, so yes, there are major trust issues, and he tends to spill things by accident, but will not own up to things unless I have absolute proof. He said he was going through a depression at the time. I guess you can say, I am afraid of getting even more hurt & if I find out in any way that he was looking to hire a prostitute, I would be gone in a heart beat.

Best craigslist alternative?

I've used craigslist for years and it's met my needs for the most part. I do have my pet peeves about it though. What is the deal with the maximum four tiny pictures? Everyone knows a picture is worth a thousand words, so why be stingy with the pics? Anyway, what sites like craigslist offer a good alternative? Preferably, a nice simple layout, easy to post without having to register an account, with more, larger pictures and maybe even video or something.

What do scammers gain by posting cars on Craigslist at extremely low prices and asking you to email them for more information?

What do scammers gain by posting cars on Craigslist at extremely low prices and asking you to email them for more information? Here is the thing about scams and the scammy scammers that do them. The con doesn’t have to trick everyone. They usually only have to trick a few. Sometimes they only have to trick one — or one at a time. The low price is like a worm on a hook. Anyone who responds is the fish nibbling on the worm. The email is a nibble. And it is so much more.If you are that fish, now the scammer has your email address. The scammer may have your first name and maybe your last name. That’s just for starters. Between Google and a half-dozen other online or proprietary skip-tracing resources the scammer can know more about you before the hour is up than you will ever know about the scammer. That, in itself, is not a good thing. Now, depending on how gullible the scammer thinks you are, little fish, the more worm he’ll feed you until — WHAM-O! — hook, line and sinker. The scammer has a nice fish dinner. With offers of extremely low prices on items with fairly high value, the scammer may present some elaborate, “guaranteed” method of safely transferring money for the item, if you want the deal. It is indeed guaranteed safe. It’s guaranteed to allow the scammer to safely steal your money.Maybe next the scammer will take your email, your name, and your other personal information — along with others he’s collected — put it all on a list and sell it to other scammers who also like fish. There’s an old saying we used often in consumer protection law enforcement: If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably not true.

WHY ARE MY CRAIGSLIST ADS BEING DELETED IMMEDIATELY?

It seems that as of the 24 of september,

craigslist is blocking and ghosting any more posts than one per city

and per email and ip. ( it used to be 3 times, on one email, and you could cross promote up to 2 categories per city atleast)

I spent the last day trying to figure this out,

basically if the ad is not unique and is a duplicate of another ad,

they are deleted or ghosted immediately.

If you change the ad contact after it shows up as a real ad,

its automatically ghosted.

No more cross posting or multiple cities apparently

only once per ip, per email.

So one shot is all you get. I spent all day switching emails and IPs

and one ad only post. So thats it folks!

clear your cookies, and use a separate email every time

and new IP per every ad. if you want atleast one ad posted.

also do not post on same email within 24 hours or its banned.

you can however wait, and use other emails .

FYI if your ads are being deleted immediately its simple because

you are posting more than 3 times per email.

beyond 3 times . they all get deleted or flagged.

but that is typical.

How do you detect Craigslist scams that ask for email addresses?

A close friend of mine just fell for a complicated Craigslist scam. So your question is oh so timely. He ended up pulling out his credit card and buying a “Vin Verification” with a fake buyer who pretended to be interested in his luxury SUV. Here’s a rundown of the scam. And what’s worse, the scammer acted like a normal Craigslist buyer, up to a certain point. He told me something was strange after he viewed the VIN report and the vehicle year was off.Ooops.Emails and CraigslistIn terms of the email address, when he tried to respond to the email the craigslist scammer supplied, it came back as undeliverable. A telltale sign something odd was happening.Detection! Keep an eye out for irregularitiesIn any kind of scam, some small detail is usually slightly off…a misspelling, an odd email address, incomplete data, an excuse of some kind. And not just the gullible fall for these kinds of scams. The can be pretty sophisticated.Or sometimes, the offer is just too good to be true. Full asking price? Hmmm. Something might be slightly off. What needs to happen is that the contact details of the user should be somewhat obfuscated until the transaction occurs. At Vin Voyager, my startup (disclosure), we are building obfuscation into our app that protects your contact information until you decide to release it and trade in your car.Hands off my dataMillennials, especially, don’t really have the patience or desire to interact with apps that ignore this glaring problem. In fact, I think alternative classified apps are making inroads because they are addressing these issues head-on.

What are the pros and cons of using Craigslist for casual encounters?

Four cons that I've discovered, from a straight male perspective. First one: Sometimes it's almost as if there are no other humans on CL cas besides me. It's often fully inhabited by bots who sometimes post very realistic-looking ads in order to get you to engage in an email exchange. At the end of the exchange the other "person" sends you some weak-ass message like, "Oh I'm nervous about meeting in person, please go to this link [insert spurious link here] and get verified so I know you are real and not a killer."Second one: The listing page is updated by CL every fifteen minutes, so they say. But I've noticed it sometimes takes half an hour or more for a posting to appear on the list. You can refresh the listing page once a minute for a half an hour (there is a browser add-on for that in Firefox), finally see a new listing, and find out according to the time stamp on the listing that it was posted 35 minutes ago. Third one: There are a lot of unrealistic expectations. I can't tell you how many times I've browsed an ad that looks good until you get to the part where it says something like, "Must be well hung, sorry no one under 9 inches considered."Fourth one (and this is perhaps the most obvious one): If you are a man seeking a woman (m4w), you stand almost no chance of being seen. That listing page is completely packed. To give you an idea, I just now took a look at the listings pages for my area. At the top of the page it tells you how many ads there are for each category. On the w4m page (women seeking men), it says, "1-100 of 270". On the m4w page (men seeking women), it says "1-100 of 6651". In other words, 270 women seeking men, and 6651 men seeking women. And of the 270 women seeking men, a huge number of them are bots (see point one).Nevertheless, the human sex drive is strong, so you persist anyway.
