Is This Enough For Sophomore Year

Should I take 3 AP classes my sophomore year?

I took Honors Chem, Honors English, Honors Spanish, Honors Precalc and APUSH my sophomore year.It wasn’t bad because I had plenty of time for all my APUSH readings. However, 3 social studies? That’s a lot. Is there any way you can maybe take one next year? I would suggest taking AP World and AP Human Geo this year that way you can switch out of AP Human Geo if it becomes too much (and AP World is more demanding than AP Gov so when Junior year comes, you will have a weight off your back SS wise if you get it over with now).BTW, that’s a lot of core academic classes! I worry that you will not have enough time for extra curriculars or free time in general (to watch YouTube, sleep, eat, etc)! These are both so important in high school! Don’t bite off more than you can chew! :)Also, are you planning to pursue humanities or history in college? If so, good idea with the 3 social studies. If not, it might be a good idea if you take an elective (business, comp sci, etc).Make sure you know your own limits!Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!

Is two honors classes in sophomore year enough?

Two honors classes is not enough for NYU.

All of your core classes have to be honors, so you have to at least take 4 honors classes per year.

And nowadays, honors is not even close to being as impressive as AP. The students who took AP courses (more than 2, I'm talking about 5+) will definitely have leverage over you in the admissions process.

If you want to take only two honors classes, then, by all means, go ahead. But, just reconsider your college options.

It's easy to get straight A's when you're only taking regular classes.

EDIT: I know for a fact that my high school is better than yours. In 2010, it was ranked in the top 100 on the US News' Top High Schools List. It offers the IB Program as well as over 25 AP courses. The recent valedictorian had a GPA of 5.5 and will be matriculating at Yale this coming fall.

And don't think that just because you've had a "hard year", you can slack off. I was hospitalized this school year for chronic, incessant hallucinations, and I've missed over 20 days of school. I've had this medical problem for 5 years, not just in February, and I still managed to have a higher cumulative GPA than you do.

I took these classes----
AP Biology
AP World History
Precalculus Honors
Chemistry Honors
Health Science 2 Honors
English 2 Honors
Spanish 2
------as a sophomore and earned my straight A's.

And next year, as a junior, I'll be taking:
AP English Language
AP US History
AP Calculus AB
IB Psychology
IB Chemistry
Pre-IB Spanish 3 (it's an honors course)
----and THAT IS ENOUGH for selective colleges.

And I don't about care about you. I have better things to do with my time than "stress you out." I have a life of my own, and I'm more interested in myself than in your self-esteem.

2 ap classes sophomore year?

I don't really know what the question is, but if it's what science to take, by all means, choose the one that interests you the most.
Also find out the teachers and see if the type of class is right for you.
If the question is "is it okay to take 2 AP classes sophomore year?" the answer is yes, if you think you can handle it.
I took three in sophomore year- AP US History I, AP Biology, and AP Computer Science. I managed quite well in all of them, and I do not think that they are too hard or too much work.

Should I take 2 AP classes Sophomore year?

yes you should! AP classes are the best.
im taking calc/us/chem next yr.
good luck & study hard!

How many credits should I have at end of sophomore year?

I have 7 1/2 right now, and it's end of freshmen
& i think i'm going to get 7 1/2 next year too.
Is that a good amount to have as of end of sophomore year? I want to make sure i'll have enough and not have to take a full day during senior year

Can you leave high school after sophomore year and come back two years later to get your diploma?

High schools require a certain amount of earned credits in order to graduate. The district where I worked required 240 credits other districts might require a little more or a little less. Freshman English is the foundation for sophomore English and that is true of the other languages. math, science, social sciences. If you are indicating that you are changing schools and completing your credits elsewhere and then want to return to your original school for graduation with your old friends that is generally not allowed. Typically districts require you to be enrolled in their school in order to participate in their graduation. It’s not because the schools are being hard-headed it is the law. The principal has to swear that you have completed all the necessary requirements. If you live in California you could take the California High School Proficiency Exam(CHSPE) if you are sixteen but it is only recognized in California and you wouldn’t be allowed to receive a diploma from the high school. I can’t think of any way possible that you could earn enough credits in two years to complete all the requirements. I hope this helps.

Should I take 4 AP classes in my sophomore year? I am currently a freshman and I'm taking 4 honors classes along with a 4.0 GPA which I guess means that I might be capable of taking AP classes next year. What are your suggestions?

As a senior I’m taking 4 AP classes. It’s a lot of hard work but if you’re up to it I would totally suggest doing it. You’ll spend a lot of time on homework and studying but if you get credit for the classes it’ll be worth all the hard work. Talk to your friends who are taking or have taken those AP classes because APs are different at each school even though you’ll get the same material from the classes (hopefully).I only took one AP class as a sophomore and honestly I wish I had taken more but if I get credit from all the classes I’m taking now with all my other classes I’ll go into college with 26 credits that I didn’t have to pay for.AP classes are worth it, just don’t overload yourself to the point where you can’t do anything but study. If you can handle four now, take four now. If you’re apprehensive, only take the ones you’re super interested in for your sophomore year, then take more if you think it’s a good fit.

Is taking 1 AP class and 4 Honors as a sophomore not enough for a student who wants to attend an Ivy League?

Take what you can handle, but also what challenges you. In other words, you don’t want to feel like you could sleep through all your classes and still get an A or that you are torturing yourself with all the stuff you have to learn in every class. Ivy Leagues aren’t ALL about grades. They especially like to see an applicant who offers great leadership skills and a desire to serve. They want to see people with original and relevant ideas. So my suggestion is to join extracurriculars that interest you; when this info is shared with your chosen colleges, they can infer what type of person you are and if they would like to have you at their school.

So I messed up my freshman and sophomore year, is there any way I can start over while doing my junior and senior year of high school?

Easily. Highschool is made for fucking up and learning. You already fucked up so the next part is learn from it. Identify what you did to fuck up. What do you want to change? How are you going to change it? If you can't figure those answers out very quickly then going to a Psychologist is the best path. Everyone needs help, even Elon Musk or JayZ or the next genius prodigy. The first step to change is wanting to change. The second is identifying what to do. And the third is breaking it down into smaller and smaller tasks until they are manageable.I wanted to start eating healthier, so I talked to health conscious friends, figured out I was eating way too much processed sugar and not enough of specific vegetables, (Spinach, mushrooms, nuts and seeds, and fish). Then I looked up recipies, then I looked at the ingredients, then I looked at what I liked, I started making mead around the parts I like first. Slowly expanding my diet one meal a week. Every week I make a new "health" dish instead of eating out. Slowly but surely things can and will change. But not if you act and not just complain and contemplate.

Why is sophomore year of high school SO much harder than freshman year?

At least for me, I am really struggling this year. Last year, freshman year, I became serious about my grades and took four honors classes, and I maintained an A- and above in all of them the entire school year.

However, this year I was recommended for FIVE honors classes and the workload is enormous. I especially having difficulty in Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Chemistry, I got a C in Algebra, I just did a project wrong and did poorly bam! A C for a grade instead of my A last year. In Chemistry, I got an A- on my report card but I'm freaking out because I think I just failed a really easy quiz on Friday, and I studied the wrong information......and so I'm probably going to go down to like a C because I don't think I got any on the quiz right. However, I find Chemistry and Algebra this yearMANY times harder than Biology and Geometry, which I took freshman year, and it doesn't help that I have terrible teachers now.

Am I not trying hard enough? Am I in over my head? Or do I just need to adjust to these new classes? How do I get back up to my straight A's?

HELP!
