What kind of food should I eat to gain muscle mass?

I'm quite skinny, and would like to gain muscle mass in my arms, stomach and chest. What types of food would you suggest to eat for this, and also, what types of weights should I lift and what would be a good work out?

Is Muscle Milk good for you, and does it help you gain muscle after a workout?

It's ok for you. It's a protein shake. So it's not KFC. But it's also not a plate full of veg. Will it help you build muscle?Yes and no.Building muscle isn't magic. It doesn't require anything but science. Your body grows muscle to adapt to stimuli.Nutrition + stimuli + time to rest = growthNotice there is no muscle milk in the equation. If your body is getting enough nutrition from other sources then a protein shake will not help you build muscle. However if your not eating enough real food you can SUPPLIMENT real food for a protein shake. Which in that specific case, yes it will help you build muscle.Context of everything. The advertising forgets to mention that.

Are tacos good for you if your trying to lose fat and gain muscle?

Alright...

You can not loose fat and put on serious amounts of muscle at the same time. It is not going to happen.

-In order to gain muscle, you have to be in a caloric surplus. This means you are taking in more calories than you are burning off. Your body is built to survive, not look good...some of these extra calories are going to be stored as fat (no matter what you do). How much fat you gain is determined by your diet (mainly how many calories you are eating about maintenance).

-In order to loose fat, you have to be in a caloric deficit. So in this case you are burning off more than you are taking in. Muscle is extremely taxing for your body to both put on and keep on. This can be a good thing, since more muscle mass will raise your metabolism. However, when you are in this caloric deficit...there is NO way your body is going to put on muscle when it has to tap into fat stores just to get the energy to survive.

That being said and to answer your question - you have to determine what your goals are. If you want to put on muscle mass, eating tacos for a day wouldn't be the end of the world. If you are trying to loose fat, it would probably not be the best idea.

Good luck
