Good and affordable gaming pc's?

Hey guys.

I am completely dying to be able to play demanding games on a pc, as i find pc's a great all-rounder, i can record videos and commentaries for youtube alot easier and if i can play games on one, i will never need to come off it!

I am hoping to get a pc for my Christmas! However i need some examples of good and affordable ones, i don't mean affordable as in like £400, i know that they aren't cheap. Although anything more than £1000 i think would be pushing it...

I am certainly no PC genius, so i can't give you specific specs that i'm after, however i suppose it would be helpful to list a few games that i would expect my new PC to handle without hassel.

Amnesia: The Dark Decent
RAGE
Portal 2
Minecraft (Extreamly smoothly)
Terraria (Extreamly smoothly)
Call of Duty.. all of them.
and no dount there will most likely be a few more.

All i'm after is a few faint examples of what computer i'd be looking to get and maybe somewhere where i could get it. Remember, it doesan't have to be a complete GAMING PC, i would obviosuly expect it to do standard internet things aswell, i just need it to handle games if i need it too.

If there is a PC genious out there than can give me an example, please do!

Thanks guys :)

Dads are the pillars of the family. He has given you so much that you literally can't even imagine. But as you said that he's not happy as he's being retired it may be just due to a sudden change in his life which he cannot take in! He has been spending so much time to his work that he cannot imagine his life without it. It's just a one time thing and as time will pass he'll gradually stop feeling this.So to get him a gift you must try something which reminds him of his affectionate family, his children which are obviously far more important than his work (which is going to end soon). Make him realise the loveliness of acquaintances. Give him something that remains with him for lifetime and touches his heart. A piece of artwork is a perfect idea from my perspective. A painting or a sketch of your family show your immense love and effort for him. Art is appreciated by every age group and never grows old.People often ask me what to get your dad for Christmas ? I always point below answer. You can do same for Dads 60th Birthday you can give customize mugs,t shirt,Jewelry,etc..Most item are less then 20 bucks, ship really fast.Highly recommendable. You can gift sentimental coffee Mug. I prefer YesEcart if you are prime member you get free shipping .This can also be great dad birthday t shirt. Sentimental mug is also great gifts to get your dad .Here are few links .World’s Best DadBadAss DadWorld’s Okest Dad

What PC game should I get for christmas?

(I don't understand why you're not allowed to play Mature games but have Oblivion and Mass Effect)^

I'd say that Dragon Age: Origins would make a good addition to your RPG library (Get it on PC if you can). It's also a very violent game, so I'm not sure if you'll be allowed to get it.

If you're talking about MMO's. There's not too much out right now that I personally find interesting. You may want to check into Warhammer Online, or Vindictus.

EDIT: I also like the morons who didn't pay attention to you when you said you want an RPG, and shouted GTA or CoD. Yahoo Answers sure has alot of really dumb people on here, but you all already knew that.

What is a good computer to get a 10 year old for Christmas?

It's a difficult one because you can either choose a;

Mac (macbook pro, iMac etc). The benefits are that it's very user friendly, really easy to set up (pretty much get it out of the box, plug it in and turn it on and you're away), there's minimal to no risk of being affected by viruses, trojans or worms and there are many more schools beginning to introduce iMacs into their departments because they are user-friendly. The battery life for the laptop versions are usually far superior to PC equivalents. You can also run Windows on Macs now if you opt for the Intel versions.

Dell PC: As you can tell I'm a mac user and generally don't rate PC's (have worked with 5 PC's and have family and friends constantly battling with virus protection, have had to send their PC's in for repair because of faults etc). But Dell do have a good reputation for customer service and you get what you pay for as in they're cheap but if all you want to do is go on the internet and write up homework (in your 10 year olds case) it's a suitable option.

If you want a computer that's easy to run and maintain, can run Office apps like Word for homework etc, he can store his photos add music, play DVD's, create movies, surf the internet a Mac is what you want and you can pick them up refurbished or brand new direct from Apple or a site called cancomuk.com between £500-£1500.

If you want a no frills PC that will run Word and surf the internet, go for the run of the mill Dell PC but opt for additional memory and decent size hard drive as the bog standard ones run painfully slow.

In this day in age, a computer is a good tool to offer a 10 year old and will set them up when they go to work, college, uni etc.

What are some good homemade Christmas gifts?

Great idea - it's so much fun (and usually inexpensive!) to make gifts instead of buying them.

Just a few ideas for things that you could make:
*Cookies or Candy - There are tons of recipes online and you can find inexpensive cookie cutters at any department store or grocery store. You could buy a cheap tin container to put them in and decorate that using stickers, sharpies, wrapping paper, or anything else that you can think of. For your brother, if he likes trading cards, you could cut&tape those to the outside of the container.
*Stockings - You could buy a plain red&white stocking and then decorate it to customize it to each person (using glitter, buttons, pins, fabric, etc), then fill it with inexpensive candies or knick-knacks.
*Water Bottle / Coffee Mug - Buy a plain coffee mug or steel/plastic bottle and then decorate the outside of it using any arts & crafts items that you can find.
*Take Up Knitting - I've heard that it's really easy to learn. You could knit a scarf or something for your mom.
*Make Christmas Tree Ornaments.

If you like any of those ideas, you could probably just go into any arts and crafts store and browse the aisles to find some good (and cheap!) decorations.

That's all I can think of for now. I hope that some of them were helpful. Happy Holidays!

A good choice is something fun AND educational. Do you have an interest in building things, mechanics, electronics, robotics, computers, or coding? There are a large number of toys to help further those interests in a safe and fun way. Legoes, RC vehicles, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, carpentry kits, electronic kits, building PC’s and networks, etc. Coding your own games or apps. There are products out there that can help you do that. Other good options are experiences like sports or martial arts. Tickets to an event with someone you like, etc. There are a lot of alternatives to basic “stuff”. If there is a particular item you want though, and it is reasonable for your household, feel free to ask for it. After all, it is YOUR wish!

What are some good christmas present ideas for my 16 year old best guy friend? Affordable please!?

Sami,
Before you read the following, I just realized this guy's not your boyfriend yet, so...jump to the last idea first.

If you have or can get access to a computer, burn your favorite songs that remind you of him onto a CD for him. Even if he's a jock, he will melt to know you made a CD just for him. Even though it's a "girl's song", your guy would melt if you included that new one called "Bubbly" which is the ultimate in "Ahhhh" to know your girl felt that way about you. Include some funny ones too.

Or, you could begin a memory book for him by getting a scrap book and taking some pics of his best buds (include any girls too like sisters, mom, grandma, good friends etc). Develop the pics and have each person write something to him about a memory with him or some funny story involving them etc.

Or, you can get some nice fleece and make him a double sided throw blanket for cold nights. Include a little note telling him its to "warm him" when you aren't there! Any fabric store will show you how to "tie" the ends together so that it looks awesome. Even Walmart can...

Whoops, I just read that he's not your boyfriend....soooo you could make him a nice fleece scarf. Just cut it to size and fringe the ends with scissors. Its personal but not too much and homemade showing thought and care.

There are a few laptops that I really like for different reasons. I'll toss a few out there that are in this price range and suggest that you take a look at what fits best for your mother.Top of my list for high end finish and an amazing product is a Maingear Pulse: Maingear Computers | Pulse 17It's a high end finish with the same exterior paint that they use on super cars (seriously, it's a high end finish.) For a performance laptop, it's got serious horsepower and all the bells and whistles of a luxury product. I like this thing a lot. But, it's not the laptop for everyone. Fur ultra-portables, in the PC world, I really like the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3. Same kind of ultra fast PCI-e SSD you'd find in a MacBook, cutting edge Broadwell-M series CPU, sips power and is very light weight:Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro | Adaptable Multimode Ultrabook | LenovoThe watchband hinge is some seriously nice construction and it manages to be a very capable, high resolution ultra portable. In the 13" form factor, for ultra light, this is one of my go-to products. Bonus, unlike a MacBook Air, you get a very nice touch screen and can use it like a tablet. There are a few others that I like in general: The Lenovo X1 Carbon is a handy piece of hardware that performs well and has options for a nice high resolution screen. In the end, it comes down to what you want in a product. Small and light options or power / performance options. For small and light ultra-portables, I tend to like Lenovo, though the Acer Aspire S7 isn't a bad product either, and I generally like Asus Zenbooks as well... but I get to work with loads more Lenovo products (deploying a few hundred X1 Carbons in a month or two, users who were given the choice of that or a few alternatives overwhelmingly picked the Carbon) and I've been pretty happy with them and with Lenovo's support system so I will fully acknowledge my own bias.
