Is This Stressing My Hamster Out

My hamsters stressed, what can i do?

Yes, she sounds stressed.
When hamsters are stressed they tend to fixate on something so make sure you take her wheel out for a couple of days so she doesn't wear herself out.
As for the drinking thing, that's normal for a new hamster. They can go without water for days in the wild so don't worry, she's fine.
Sing to her softly through the cage bars twice a day for 20 minutes. Make sure there are no loud noises as this will stress her even more. In about 2 days, get a small piece of fruit in between your thumb and finger (not citrus fruit!) and hold it out to her. Don't force her to take it - she will in her own time, just stay very still. Doing this for a few days will start to create a trust bond between you and her.
After a few days of doing that, place a treat on the palm of your hand and place your hand flat on the cage floor. After a while she should climb onto your hand and take the food. Don't lift her out of the cage while she's on your hand - do so after a few days. When she's on your hand, don't hold her high up as she could fall. Stroke/pet her gently for 2 minutes and then put her back. This will slowly tame her so you can hold her.
I hope I helped! Good luck. :)

How to lower hamster stress?

Hello,

So i c you've mentioned its glass..?

If its an aquarium (Should be10 gals or larger) its poor ventilation.

So You might want to think about getting a airy cage :D

It vents out the smells and lowers chances of respitory infection.

To lower stress, you might just have to leave her alone for a day or two.

Do you have any pets like dogs or cats?

If so please keep them away.

Make sure the enviornment is quiet.

Make sure the temperature is between 65 degrees F and 80 Degrees F.

If colder than 65 degrees F They might go into hibernation.

Also make sure there are lots of different toys and treats.

Give Her Fruit or veggies once a week.

I think that will help.

hope I Helped

Hamster stressed. Why?

My female dwarf hamster of one month was really stressed out when i bought her, i noticed when i went into the petstore that she was missing all of the hair on her underside, i bought her so i could give her a good home and get her out of that place where she was stressed out, well i brought her home and she stopped tearing her hair and and it grew back and she looked fine, well, she recently started doing it again.. Does anyone know what could be stressing out my Little Sasha? Thanks.

How can i remove my hamster's stress???

Since you didnt go into detail, I have no idea why you think your hamsters stressed.

If its climbing, falling, and running around, thats normal. If he/she hides on a regular basis, or chews alot... these are all normal.

Its hard to answer your question without knowing what the symptoms your hamster is showing.

What are some signs of hamster depression?

Is your friend a vet? No.
Does she have personal experience with hamsters? No.
To me, it sounds like she's trying to upset you.

Dwarf hamsters need company, but only if they've grown up together. Introducing two adult dwarf hamsters together is very difficult.
Syrian hamsters and Chinese hamsters should NOT have company. (sometimes Chinese ones can have company, but to be honest not many people report success) Ever. Even play dates are completely out of the question. I can guarantee that any syrian hamsters you keep together will eventually kill each other or simply injure each other very, very badly. The best case scenario is that they eventually sort out a territory boundary, which will still cause stress and probably injury. (after all, if one wants the water bottle and it's not on their territory, that's going to result in a fight) But unless you keep your hamsters in the right sort of cage this is unlikely anyway.

And anyway, depressed animals don't die from depression. Depression can cause stress and weaken the immune system, but no animal will die because of stress. Yes, stress may cause a heart attack or something like that, but it's the heart attack which will kill the animal.
Most signs of depression will overlap with other problems. For example, if she performs an abnormal behaviour she might be depressed. Alternatively, she needs a new toy. eg, if she digs in one corner of the cage, get little rotastak box and a few tubes and bury them so it's like she has an underground tunnel. Digging in the corner is probably her trying to build a tunnel network, and providing one for her may stop this behaviour. Or she may just be bored, in which case pretty much any new toy will help.

How do i relieve a hamster from stress?

I have a fancy russain dwarf hamster that has been losing hair. i know that its from stress because i know she doesnt have mites and it couldnt of been passed down cuz when i got her she was fine. and i had to seperate her from my other hamster that got an eye infection so they wouldnt fight. and my mom put them in the same cage supervised and they started fighting, so we r keeping them apart. my other hamster isnt going through this though. so im wondering how do u relieve stress from a hamster?

I agree with One if the previous answers, take the whole cage to the vet or if you can afford it get a home visit from your vet. Your hamster might not be reaching its end but it might be. Hamsters often hide their illnesses and it’s often too late to do anything about it when we realise that something is wrong. It’s heartbreaking I know to take your pet to the vets especially when you think it might me terminal but you do owe it to your furry friend.my previous hamster Fred had a stroke and would often fall to one side. He still was bright and wanted to get around. My vet didn’t believe he was in any pain or distress but he was 2 years old. We decided not to put him down but to let him carry on. Around a month later he was lying down on my chest gently stretched out one of his back legs and relaxed. He died. No drama or distress just drifted off. It was a peaceful end and he wasn’t alone. ( as peaceful as it was it didn’t stop me crying like a child )Just a thought, I have no idea of how old your hamster is or it’s condition but have you checked his teeth? Hamsters teeth continue to grow rather like fingernails. If they grow too long they struggle to eat. You might have to wrestle with him to find out or try to offer him some apple by holding it above his head so he has to lift his head opening his mouth to get to it.If a hamster can’t eat properly then they get weak really quickly.Could be something as simple as meeting his teeth trimmed. Hence the need to consult a vet.

How do u know if a hamster is stressed out?

You know as the hamster gets wet tail, basically when ttail looks bent and broken, their hair stands on end and they grind there teeth constantly. The hamster may run about the cage and go off food and water. Stress can be caused by incorrect diet, lonliness, dirty or small cages. The best way to handle stress of hamster is to make sure the diet is correct and play with the hamster for long periods if none of this works on a hamster it maybe ill and time for a trip to the vet

How do I trim my roborovski hamster's nail without stressing him out?

You can buy nail clippers specially designed for small rodents, you will need a friend to help you hold your pet while you clip the nails. Alternatively you can place some rough surfaces in his encloser to keep the nails worn down more naturally. You could put a tile or brick under his water bottle and some rough drift wood or something in there.

If by "the wild" you mean inside your home, then by all means go ahead. He will love living under your fridge. Ours did, when he escaped. Make sure and leave out some food and water and he'll be happy as a clam. Oh, but he'll need a mate. The two of them will be happy under your fridge or they may decide to move into larger quarters behind the dishwasher when the kids arrive. They'll die eventually, probably from chewing on power cords or falling into the toilet. I don't know how ours did it, but he somehow found a way. (We found him before it was Too Late.) Some of their offspring should survive though, and continue to entertain you by climbing into your sock drawer and chewing up your socks to make a nest.In the outdoors, they will soon get cold and wet, and they won't know how to find food or evade predators, so that is not safe for them. They won't be happy at all.I think what your hamster really wants is some exercise. First, he needs a running wheel in his cage. This is an absolute necessity. Hamsters love to run and explore, that's why they love escaping. In measured wheels, they have been recorded traveling as far as four miles in one night! That doesn't mean they want to be fed to the neighborhood cats and owls in the great outdoors. We let ours out for a run every night, indoors of course. We taught them to come when we called. (They were all very tame to handle, so they were not scared of us.) I call a hamster by scratching and making scuttling sounds with my fingers on the floor. They are so curious about that noise that they always come to see if it might be another hamster. Then I just scoop them up. Sometimes they would fall asleep in certain favourite places, like my shoe cupboard. We got to know where to look for them. Don't ever feed them outside their cage (except as bait). If they can't find any food during their outings they are usually happy to find a treat back in their cage when they return. For the more skittish ones, another way to catch them is to put a small dark box on the floor. We used a tea cannister. Dark holes are irresistible to hamsters, they just can't help themselves, but must go in and take a look. Worked every time. We had full-sized hamsters, not the mini Russian ones. The mini ones are much harder to tame and catch, but I think the same techniques might work.
