Is This Thomas Andrews Jr In This Photo The Man Who Designed The Rms Titanic

Titanic information please?

Several myths have arisen from the Titanic, and some stuff that oughta be a myth that's true:
1- "Unsinkable" There is NO evidence that the White Star Line or Harland & Wolff ever used this term. For the simple reason that any mariner would never claim a ship as unsinkable. The only real reference is in the Journal "Shipbuilding (sic)" which states that her new structure makes her, "PRACTICALLY unsinkable". (my emphasis). Some passengers later claimed that some of the crew used this term, possibly, but they weren't "mariners" but the wait staff.
2- Setting a speed record. Not possible. The Cunard Line was emphasizing luxury over speed. In fact, if they had set a speed record, arriving Monday or early Tuesday then the shipping line would've had to pay berthing for 2-3 extra days before the passengers would arrive. A money-losing situation.
3- First ship to use "SOS" in a distress situation. Absolutely true. The old Morse code was "CQD", which is distinctive in Morse, but with an operator under duress, could be blurred. "SOS" is very easy to send, and has a very unique sound.
The bottom line of the catastrophe was, the ship was steaming almost full speed into an ice field, of which they were clearly warned. Albeit, Capt Smith moved his course some 70 miles south, but he was still in the ice field.
4- The "mystery ship". Latest research gives some credence to this claim by the surviving senior officers and crew, that they saw masthead lights that slowly sank below the horizon. While that MAY have been the "Californian", it's now becoming accepted that is was a Norwegian whaler operating illegally in the North Atlantic. In fairness to that ship, without wireless they would just see a liner stopped in the ice-an entirely prudent thing to do.

What is the worst movie made by an Academy Award winning actor or actress?

Robin Williams would be a prime candidate for this. Best Supporting Actor for one of my favorite movies, Good Will Hunting.Nominated for these movies. And then he acts in these kinda stuff, for which he was nominated for the RazziesSpeaking of Goodwill Hunting, reminds me of Ben Affleck, he got an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for that along with his best pal Matt Damon. While Damon went from strength to strength, doing some excellent stuff, Affleck wasted the whole of the 90s and early 2000s on utterly forgettable fare like Armageddon, Gigli, Pearl Harbor, Dardevil. Just when it seemed his career was destined to go into a free fall, he redeemed himself behind the camera, with this excellent thriller, and his brother starring in the lead role.Kevin Costner, had one of the best debuts as a director, when his sprawling, epic Western Dances with Wolves, turned out to be a major hit, and won the Best Picture too.Matter of fact Dances With Wolves, came during a dream phase in Costner’s career, with roles in The Untouchables, Bull Durham, JFK, A Perfect World putting him right on the top. And then he began to make stuff like these post 1994.Yes Costner remains one of the few to get a Best Director Oscar ( Dances With Wolves) and the Worst Director Razzie( The Postman). Talk about extreme swings. And one of my favorites Michael Caine, came up with some memorable stuff during the 60s and 70s like Zulu, Ipcress File, The Man Who Would Be King, Alfie, The Italian Job, Get Carter. And then he had an equally impressive line up of utterly bad movies. Nominated thrice for Best Actor( Alfie, Educating Rita, Sleuth) , won twice as Best Supporting Actor( Hannah and her Sisters, The Cider House Rules). And also being nominated for Razzies for stuff like this.Adrian Brody won the Best Actor for playing the real life Polish pianist Władysław Szpilman, caught up in the Nazi holocaust in Warsaw. And later tried to be a wannabe Arnold Schwarznegger in Predators, a terrible follow up to the original cult classic, and Adrian trying to do an Arnie was even worse.
