Is Transit Visa Needed At Heathrow For Changing Terminals

Do I need a UK transit visa at Heathrow Airport?

The UK Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) requirement depends on the type of visa you hold for France:
• short stay Schengen visa (type C) — DATV required
• long stay visa (type D) or temporary residence permit — exempt from the DATV requirement

Transit passengers at Heathrow are transported by dedicated transit buses on the airside without the need to pass through UK's immigration control. However the airlines are obliged not to transport passengers without a DATV if the requirement exist by their nationality and they do not hold a document which exempts from the visa requirement.

If I am changing terminals at London Heathrow airport, do I need to go through UK Border Control?

Yes. Supposedly a smaller one but yes.Last month I went Singapore London Dublin London Singapore.I had to change terminal in London. T5 to T3.Technically you are not getting out of the airport, but there still was a significant delay at the mini-immigration desk exiting T5 to get to T3. That made the connection rather tight time-wise. There is only one non-EU counter so if someone ahead has an “issue” you can be delayed 20 minutes of your 55 minutes transfer window.
