Is Shanghai still a developing city or a developed city?
Most of us, (especially expats) when we talk of Shanghai, are usually talking about the west side of Shanghai (Puxi). It’s the “center” where all the scenes happen. Now the other East side (Pudong) looks shiny and bright but that’s because it is right across from the river on the Bund which is a Shanghai main attraction spot. It is majorly a business district there, but seriously, no one stays there for things like live music, drinking, etc. . Shanghai is a huge place and continues to develop and re-develop areas that expand outside of the central districts. And things change fast here. In ways things are developed but for Shanghai, nothing is ever a finished product. They will re-invent places like there is no tomorrow. That’s my two cents. I’ve lived here for 7 years, and for the last four, cash has become a thing of the past. We all use Wechat or Alipay to buy everything. Even the street beggars have QR codes to scan. That should tell you enough.
Why is the city of Dubai so wealthy?
If you are thinking that Dubai is very rich due to its oil reserves, I think you are wrong. Because Dubai, which is part of UAE is so small that they can't have that much of oil which makes them this rich. In that way Saudi Arabia must be the richest country in the world. Which is not.The main reason behind Dubai's richness is its vision. The officials of dubai thought well before they ran out of oil. They started developing Dubai as a Tourist / Financial / Trad City. Plus Dubai is tax free, so that makes it the most favorite shopping lover's city. They invested in infrastructure and allowed foreigners to buy property in Dubai, by this they brought Billions of money in Dubai (Plam islands, world islands, Burj Khalifa). Some projects are just for status symbol. Ex- celebrities are buying houses in palm island just to show their wealthiness.And By a superb strategy of Emirates Airlines they brought number of people as travelers into UAE. And UAE is the biggest Gold Trader in the world. So in short there are main 3 reasons of Dubai's wealth.1. Infrastructure2. Tourism3. Gold trading.
How can I disappear? (with little to no money)
Disappearance. I consider you are fed up of society,family and friends and you want to stay alone somewhere out in some corner of the world with a low profile where nobody knows you.Make sure you have done enough for your old parents (in case) and your wife and children (in case they exist) to survive.Tell them all that you are leaving and you don't want to return so that they don't search for you spend/waste the little resources they would probably be left with in finding you.In India,there's a place called Haridwar.You can go there and live the life of a saint.Nobody will question you.You'll ultimately disappear there and mix in the 100000s of saints there.
