Is Using Technology For Entertainment A Bad Thing

Is there a way to stop using technology mainly for entertainment?

The answer to this question get tricky given that many people read informative articles on topics within there expertise as entertainment even though it might later aid in research. On a personal level you can set limits on how much time on the internet is going to different pursuits but it is very much like eating healthier or excising more. The key is to set small achievable goals.

Is using technology for entertainment a bad thing?

No! I think 90% (if not more) of modern entertainment tools (let’s say so) are directly connected with the technology. Think about theinternettelevisionmusicmoviestravelingsports (broadcasted). The list goes on and on. What other entertainment means can you think of? Playing cards, chess or football? Most of the modern entertainment tools to play with are made via 3D printers. Still, some technology involved (in one way or another). So technologies take entertainment to a new level, make the means more interesting and advanced (and accessible). For instance, we could watch movies only via TV stets 15–20 years ago. Now they are available on a device that suits our pocket size and is able to do much more than watching movies (e.g. make payments with cryptocurrencies at a store accepting digital money payments). Now I can watch TV whenever and wherever I want. I can watch online even on my smartphone or record the programs and watch them later. I can enjoy an abundance of movies and TV series, I can use my TV set to watch YouTube videos or contact my family and friends via Skype. And I pay only $15 a month to German TV Company for all of these. And it’s all about technologies.Isn’t it a great thing?

Is using technology for entertainment a bad thing?

.Unfortunalty to many people are not useing for good,or in a good way.
Technolagy is a good thing, but can be used for things that can be used for not good.
So it just depends on how technology is used.Entertainment is the same.
You can not convince me that music is all good,Its not!
There is uplifting music, there is music that can change your mood to have you be in a negative place, those are what to avoid.

In this age of technology, is constant distraction and entertainment toxic? In what way?

Everything a person does creates a neural pathway within the brain. Over time, that pathway becomes a habit. This happens regardless of one’s desired outcome.Constant Distraction undermines the ability to concentrate/focus, among other things. Only you can decide if this is a toxic result (since “toxic” is a judgement of a result). Certainly it is an undesirable outcome in many instances. As for Entertainment - again, it depends on your desired outcome. I suspect “entertainment” will impact the pleasure centers of the brain; this, in turn, will define (in the brain) what IS pleasure and what is NOT pleasure. It seems that much of today’s entertainment centers around “reality” shows, many of which are scripted (to some extent) and NOT really “reality” even though it is presented that way (the producers’ desired outcome is to have the highest ratings possible so that the show will stay on the air & they can charge more for their commercial ads - hence the reasoning behind the “scripting” - to set up “drama”)This creates an unrealistic perspective of “life”, “relationships”, “behavior”, etc.By the same token, if one watches shows with a lot of “violence” in it, then the brain becomes immune to violence. If one watches shows with a lot of abusive language and/or behavior, then abuse becomes “normal”.AND if one watches shows the depict wisdom, kindness, compassion - then the brain becomes attuned to this “normal”.Looking at the world, though, it seems that violence, miscommunication, drama, etc., are more the norm.IS it toxic? Again, that is a judgement call.I call it an opportunity to grow & learn.

What is one good thing about using technology that makes the Internet/World better?

February 11th is Safer Internet Day, a day that offers the opportunity to focus on both the creative things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role and responsibility that all stakeholders have in helping to create a better internet. As people across the world come together to discuss this year’s theme “Let’s Create a Better Internet Together,” we wanted to ask our community to do the same.

Is entertainment better than in the past because of technology?

Not at all. No. It is tenfold more difficult to be truly creative, as our brain involuntarily copies things, and we are assaulted with all kinds of information via technology. No sooner than having thought of an idea that seems new to you, you may find out it has already been done somewhere else in the world…Also, the rate people consume entertainment is much faster than the rates it can be created at. That is why computer-generated images/sounds/effects are both a cause and an effect, as they raise the bar - people want to be entertained in a style no human is able to keep up to.But only humans are artists/creators…Also, entertainment is intelligible based on local values, patterns, cultural elements. With technology, we have a global competition where artistic elements are leveled down, to the layer that is universally reachable & globally understood. The biggest audience queues up to the most viral pieces of entertainment, which are not by far the best, nor the most creative or innovative.

Is Technology Good or Bad?

there is no source, its just common sense really

Technology is good:
it has given us the ability to understand the way thing work
it has shown us about germs and how to prevent the spreading of germs, eg soap
it has helped us save lives and develop cures for diseases
its thanks to technology that we can build hospitals and the equipment used in them
it has helped us with communications so when a natural disaster strikes, we can organize aid and even if there isn't a natural disaster we can just chat anyway

the problem with technology:
is that with people living longer it means that there are over crowding problems
is that with emails and texting, fewer letters are sent so postal forces such as the royal mail are having to sack people
is that with more people watching TVs, using computers, leaving lights on this shall contribute to global warming
is that people are becoming fat because they aren't doing enough exercise because rather than playing with your mates in the park you can chat to more people sitting at home on the computer

hope this helps

Is there such a thing as "bug free" technology?

No. The reason is the definition of a bug. It is the catch all term for something that causes a program or system to behave unexpectedly. But this doesn't have to be technical. People misunderstand each other every waking moment. I am sure requirements not supported as expected are also called bugs.Your hope is not to eliminate them entirely but manage them.
