Is Walmart Supposed To Work Me For 9 And A Half Hours

How many days can you miss working at walmart?

Walmart has two different attendance policies depending on how long you've been with the company. Here's how they work:If you clock in ten or more minutes late or clock out ten or more minutes early, you get one half of an attendance occurrenceIf you miss more than two hours of your shift, you get one attendance occurrence. If you call in, you get one attendance occurrence. If you no-call-no-show, you get four attendance occurrences.Attendance occurrences fall off after six months. If you are a new hire who has not completed your pathways training, you are only allowed 3.5 occurrences in a six month period. When you reach 4 occurrences, you will be automatically terminated from the company. If you have completed your pathways and have passed your sixth month with the company, you are only allowed 8.5 occurrences in a six month period. If you reach 9 occurrences, you will be automatically terminated from the company.Remember, Walmart doesn't coach or write up employees based on attendance. It is your responsibility to keep up with how many occurrences you have. You may keep track of them through the GTA portal on the Wire. If you believe you have received an occurrence incorrectly, you may discuss them with a salary member of management within 30 days.

Why is walmart orientation 9hours?

Well, if it's anything like Costco's orientation, which I went through once years ago as a seasonal employee, it's going to be a LOT of learning about stuff to do with the company.

At Costco's orientation it was also about 8 or 9 hours long (with a lunch break, of course). We watched videos about company policies, rules, regulations, etc. Everything you will need to know about your job, job environment, clocking in, clocking out, getting paid, all the do's and dont's of the job. There was a tour. We learned about employee behavior on and off the clock (whilst still in the building). Just basically EVERYTHING an employee needs to know. Get ready, though, it's very likely going to be eyeball-stabbingly boring. It may seem like a really simple job (and it probably is), but there's a lot to know going into it.

How many hours do you work at Walmart?

It really depends on your availability and the coverage. You're most likely part time, so you'll get up to 32 hours a week, but that's if your availability is pretty open. I know some cashiers in my store that only get about twelve hours a week because they can't work very often. Give it about a month or two after your first day and if you need more or less hours, talk to your manager and see what they can do. When you first start out, they probably won't be giving you as many hours as the people who have been there for years.

How many days are you allowed to call in at Walmart?

The answer to your question depends on how long you’ve been with Walmart. If you’ve been with Walmart for less than 6 months, you’re allowed 3 1/2 occurrences. If you’ve been with Walmart for 6 months or longer, you’re allowed 8 1/2 occurrences. Once you reach 4 and you’re less than 6 months, you’re terminated. Once you reach 9 and you’ve equal to or more than 6 months, you’re terminated. Here’s how occurrences are calculated.1 - Calling out for the day.4 - No call no show.1/2 - Clocking in more than 9 minutes late.1/2 - Clocking out between 10 - 120 minutes before your shift ends. Please note that there is an exception to calling out that involves dangerous driving conditions. If the governor of your state calls a state of emergency because of weather, you’re not going to receive an occurrence. There’s a myth that’s been circulated quite a bit that you might hear that if state offices are closed you won’t get an occurrence. If state offices are closed due to weather and the governor doesn’t declare a state of emergency because of the weather, it’s NOT covered.

How long after four points does Walmart fire you?

Walmart’s point system will automatically fire new hires with six or more points if you get them within the first three months of employment, After that, the total is expanded to nine. That said, your points do fall off, but it takes months per point. Also, different issues cost more points. a late arrival is only one point, but a No-call no-show absence from work was worth four.

What's the minimum number of days you can work/week for Walmart?

The current minimum that I'm aware of is 8 hours per week. There is also a minimum of 4 hours per day.So you could work a single 8 hour shift once a week. Or work two 4 hour shifts a week. This minimum mostly applies to your availability. As in you must be available to work at least 8 hours each week. There's still the chance you'll be scheduled less than 8 hours a week.

How does the Walmart attendance policy work?

You really shouldn’t play the game with attendance at any company. Unlike some companies, Walmart is very serious about it. Most Walmart stores are short-handed and call-ins just make it worse. With 3 absences in 6 months, you’re on the verge of being fired and you don’t even have to miss a full day. What happens if power goes out and your alarm doesn’t go off so you oversleep? What if there’s an accident on the way to work and you get stuck in traffic because of it?Somebody in another answer said if you switch jobs, word gets around about what type of employee you are. A former coworker of mine played the attendance game at Walmart and eventually lost so he was fired. About 2 months later, he had a job interview with another company and when he showed up, he discovered that the interview was with one of his former managers from Walmart. Now, this manager actually decided to give him a chance and as far as I know, he’s still at that company and doing well, but it could have very easily gone badly for him just because he wanted to say he had a job, but didn’t want to go to work.

Walmart "temporary" associate?

I've worked at Walmart for around 4 and a half months. When I signed on , my contract said I would be temporary for no longer than 90 days. I worked thanksgiving day for 9 hours thinking I would be getting double pay for holiday pay. When it didn't show up on my check I ask a manager, and his response was "temps don't get holiday pay" and I went in asking questions and asked when I would know when and if id move to part time and he said I'd probably know right after Christmas, and that they can keep me temp as long as they want. A lot of things have been happening lately to really puss me off. THEY TOLD me yesterday that I wouldn't have to dye my hair because I have red highlights. BUT TheRe are countless other girls who have purple/red/pink hair and they're not been told to change it. Not to mention all the guys that have huge gauges in the eat and tattoos all up their arm. I'm not changing my hair color until they enforce it more. Is there someone I can contact about legal issues?

Does wal-mart give an hour lunch break for more than six hours of work?

I just went to orientation for a job at wal-mart and im pretty sure the personel manager said that for more than six hours of work you are required to take an hour lunch break and two 15 minute breaks. Did I hear this wrong because i would think you would only get like a half hour break for say seven hours of work? I live in ohio if that matters.
