Is Water Evaporating A Chemical Change

Is water evaporating a physical or chemical change?

It is a physical change. It's still water, but has moved from a liquid phase into a gaseous phase.

A chemical change would have to involve a rearrangement of atoms or molecules, such as Na combining with Cl to form salt. Here, a silvery, explosive metal combines with a poisonous green gas to form white crystals that you sprinkle on french fries.

Is water evaporating to water vapor a physical or chemical change?

Physical. Because water can be turned into vapor, vapor can be turned into water, water can be turned into ice, and Ice can be turned into water,

This is a PHYSICAL CHANGE. You mix salt with water, and you get saltwater. No change in chemical bonds. When you heat it and the water evaporates, that is just removing the water. The powdery white substance is salt, exactly what you had before. A similar idea would be adding sand to water, and then filtering the sand out. In the end, you still have sand and water. In order for it to be a chemical change, you must have different substances at the end of the process

PHySICAL CHANGE…steam is still water, condensation still present only it is thinned out from being dense to a lesser volume of density, a gas law… i would imagine, ask Neil Bohr…PHY;Sci-Tri;Ey-Phi;ER... scitryfer... (alpha, beta, delta, theta, gamma,mu,epsilon)(SCIENCE OF HOW WORKS in-vivo)(try it... triangulate (trip-set)(with CLASS ("EY")))(Phi, fee? and with specific of health record(s) [:-)] and DONE ALREADY (fer = for how to be as in being to be as is being for how to be = fer, how to be in 'state'))....-.djmjr.

Why is evaporation of water a physical change?

Chemical changes are when the combination of atoms is changed. combining 2 molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of Oxygen to form 2 molecules of water is a chemical reaction. Water vapor and liquid water both have the same chemical make up. two hydrogen atoms and one Oxygen atom.
Phase changes are when a substance transitions from one physical phase to another. Solid to liquid or liquid to gas are two of these phase shifts.

Evaporating salt water-Chemical or Physical Change?

Dissolving salt in water is a physical change not a chemical change. For it to be a chemical change, the molecules of water (H2O) and salt (NaCl) would have to recombine (via displacement) to form different molecules, SodiumHydroxide (HONa), Hydrogen (H2) and Clorine (Cl2). If that were happening, we would see the Hydrogen and Clorine molecules form as bubbles of gas. (Bubbles being one of the common signs of a chemical reaction.) When the hydrogen bubbles rose, and if we lit a match over the solution - the gas would explode!!!! If we breathed in the Clorine gas, we would be seriously ill. We do not experience these signs, therefore salt water does not undergo a chemical reaction.

No, it is not a chemical change. It is just a physical change, similar to evaporation of any liquid. That is the prime safety concern at fuel stations and oil/gas establishments. A stray spark can ignite the vast amount of vapour that hangs around such locations.

Is evaporated water a physical change or chemical?

Physical.

It's still water :D For a chemical change to take place, a permanent change must take place, changing the chemical into another. However, since water vapor can cling to things like glass (condesation) and return to it's liquid state, you know that it's only a physical change ;D

It is a physical change as no internal molecular bonds are made or destroyed.

It is a physical change, because no new substances are created. If you cut a piece of paper, it’s a physical change because it is till paper. If you boil water, it is a physical change because it is still water; it’s just water vapor.
