Is white rice bad for you if you are trying to lose weight?

White Rice has been eaten for centuries. But still we all blame it to be bad for weight loss today. The primary reason is that the previous generation was so active that it really never matter for them whether white rice is good for weight loss or not.But, we are not our ancestor and our requirements are different. It’s difficult for us to remain active all day because all the physical work has been replaced by gadgets or vehicles.So, let me address whether white rice is good or bad for weight loss now a days?The primary nutrient our body need for weight loss is fiber. As the foods which are rich in fiber stays longer in our stomach and keeps our stomach full for longer duration. This prevents us from eating unnecessary calories and thus gaining weight. However, the white rice hardly has any fiber in it. Thus if you eat white rice you will feel hungry in lesser time as compared to any other food which is high in fiber.So, the clear cut answer is that white rice since has very low fiber it is not good for losing weight.But if you still want to eat white rice then you should eat it in the morning or afternoon and not in the night since our body is least active in the night. Also, one could switch to brown rice as it has good amount of fiber and is quite helpful for delaying hunger spikes.

White rice is "bad" because it is only carbohydrates, that's why you hear that. Chinese and Japanese (my wife is both) are skinny because of the portions they eat and the lack of saturated fats in the diet...We eat white rice constantly...she makes it with japanese seasoning packets and we eat riceballs...but if I was to give 2 riceballs and a cup of japanese size miso soup to an american, they'd eat it in a few bites and wonder where the rest of the meal is.

It's not that rice is the problem; it's the portions. In america, everything is out of proportion, in japan and china, I have to double or triple order to get the same size portion I would expect in america.

Is white rice bad for you?

I eat both brown and white rice (primarily white because it cooks quicker) but I keep hearing people say that all white rice gets converted into sugar once you eat it and can raise cholesterol. I eat about 2 cups of cooked white rice a day. I'm at a great weight and all but I eat it often so I was just wondering. I follow a primarily vegetarian diet. I don't really eat dairy, but I eat eggs and fish (no beef, pork, chicken products) I eat a lot of rice because it's an easy way to get protein if you mix it with beans. Should I quit white rice and stick to brown rice and quinoa? Thanks.

Brown rice -weight loss?

hey i am trying to lose weight and i was wondering that eating brown rice will effect help me lose weight or gain ??
i don't do much exercise just treadmill for 2 hours at the speed of 6.5 one hour at the morning before breakfast and the other at evening am i doing it right

I'm trying to lose some weight and I've been eating a lot of rice and grilled chicken, but I've just been told that white rice is actually pretty bad for you and brown rice is what I should be eating. Any truth to this?
