Will Windows 8.1 Pro run more smoothly than Windows 7 Ultimate on 1 GB RAM?

Okay I get it, you have minimum requirements met right? This means that the software will run, not smoothly for sure and definitely not optimally so if that's the best you do for RAM I really can't tell you much more than Windows will not really be in any way a great platform to use. Windows 8.1 is more GUI dependent than 7 so for smooth running you are going to want to look more at how much video processing power you have. Do you have a DX11 capable video card? If so then with the latest drivers Windows 7 will run more smoothly. Is it going to run more smoothly than Windows 8.1? There is more to hardware than just how much RAM you have. See my above mention of Video Card. The other factor is Hard Drive speed, a 7200 RPM drive can access data faster than a 5400 RPM drive. Also SATA transfer speeds make a difference. So if you want a better Windows experience, rather than upgrading to a newer OS, spend some money on more RAM even if you just get a 4 GB stick of RAM and a cheap Graphics Card or faster Hard Drive. It's like adding drops of water to a bucket of water, it all adds to the whole.

What is the difference between Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 8.1 single language?

Difference between Windows 8.1 Single Language and Windows 8.1.Windows 8.1 Single Language is the exact replica of Windows 8 except the fact that Windows 8.1 Single Language is tailored for use only in a single language. Unlike Windows 8.1 you cannot add a language, that is you cannot have 2 or more languages.Difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro.Windows 8.1 is the basic edition for home users. Nevertheless, it includes some tweaks to the interface with upgraded apps that users appreciate. Most importantly, It includes the core feature set that home users require, but does not include key business features, such as support for the ability to join domains, process Group Policy, and so on.On the other hand, Windows 8.1 Pro as the name suggests targets small- and medium-sized businesses. It provides enhanced features that help to easily connect to company networks, access files on the go, encrypt data, and more.Windows 8.1 Editions Comparison ChartCheers!Source:Windows Tips, Tricks, Help, Support, Downloads, Features

Which version of Windows 8.1 is best: 8.1 Pro or Enterprise Edition?

With Windows 8.1 releasing to the masses it's important to get a handle on the functions the different "versions" of Windows 8.1 are intended to serve and the differences in features.Windows 8.1 comes in three different versions: Basic Edition, Pro, and Enterprise.Basic Edition – Windows 8.1 Basic Edition (or just Windows 8.1) is intended for home users. This version includes the core features, but none of the business features. Basic Edition is great for those general consumers (mother, grandmother, father, step-uncle, far removed cousin).Pro – Windows 8.1 Pro is the operating system intended for small and medium-sized businesses. It provides abilities such as joining corporate domains, participating in Group Policy, allowing involvement in Work Place Join and Work Folders, encryption and more. You can find a good list of business features in the The IT Guide to Windows 8.1. Note that some of the new business features in Windows 8.1 Pro require a server running Windows Server 2012 R2 somewhere in the organization.Enterprise – Windows 8.1 Enterprise is the version that brings business premium features to Windows. Available through Windows Software Assurance, Windows 8.1 Enterprise includes all of the same features of Windows 8.1 Pro and then adds things like Windows To Go, DirectAccess, BranchCache, AppLocker, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and Windows 8 app deployment.

Upgrading RAM on my Lenovo G580?

Hello everybody, so i bought a Lenovo G580 59387113- B960 and it has a 4GB Ram as default, and an extra slot for another.
the company i bought it from says the maximal RAM it supports is 8GB, whilst when i used the crucial tool to automatically check (it was recommended on many sites), it said it is upgradable til 16 GB.
here : http://www.crucial.com/eu/systemscanner/viewscanbyid.aspx?id=6BBFD9EA31D926C3

i'd like to max the RAM as a gift from me to me for Christmas, so i need a definite answer, an Answer For Sure, because i can't just risk my money on something i Can't Use.

here are the Details of the Laptop:

Processor
Intel® Pentium® B960 Prozessor (Dual-Core)
2,2 GHz, 2 MB Cache, 35 Watt TDP

Chipset : Intel HM76 Express

RAM : 4 GB DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM (2 slots, on of them is free)

HDD : 500 GB SATA 5.400 U/Min

and please do say if you believe this won't help the computer to be faster or smoother.
i am using Windows 8.1 pro, installed windows 8 on FreeDos and then upgraded ofc when 8.1 came out and now its slow -.-

MANY THANKS for anyone who helps!!

Which one should I buy: a Lenovo Z50 i5 core or an i7 core?

From what I understand, all these models are of U series processor. I think it is not designed for performance. U will give a lot of battery backup for sure.  I will look for M series, if you are looking for a best performer. I'm pretty sure that i7 will perform better. Does it really worth your 7k? I doubt it. Intel Core i7 4510U vs i5 4210UIntel Core i5 4210U vs 4200MThe above two links are just for comparison. The processors for laptops might be different.

Is Windows 10 better than, Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1?

Lets first get the basics right.Windows 10 is actually an improved/updated/modified version of Windows 8.x. And Windows 8.x is nothing but an improved/updated/modified version of Windows 7. So, by definition Windows 10 has the most mature code & technologies as of today. The most important attributes one looks for in a operating system are usability, stability, security, performance & features. And as of today, Windows 10 has the best of the lot. But since each operating system was designed with a specific set of goals in mind, we can't just directly compare each other. Let me elaborate.Windows 7 is a pure desktop OS. It is meant for regular desktops & laptops. And it works pretty much perfectly on supported devices. But it's old.Windows 8.x was designed for touch-enabled devices. It's intention was to spur the adoption of touch-enabled devices. But it failed miserably, as people didn't want to touch enable their laptops/desktops. And without touch, it was a nightmare to use on regular laptops/desktops.Windows 8 is pretty much unusable on non-touch devices & it is a failed OS (poor market share). So, don't touch it!Windows 10 was designed to run like Windows 7 on regular laptops/desktops. And works like Windows 8 on touch-enabled devices like tablets. And the best part, it works almost exactly like Windows 7 on regular laptops/desktops.Hence, we don't need to use the old Windows 7 anymore. In fact, Windows 10 has better driver support than Windows 7 & 8.x as of today. It is more stable & extremely secure. And above all, it's very fast. Also has tons of new features & very easy to use.Learning new OSes always takes some time. And if you're new to Windows 10, it may take a week for you to get used to. But, at present, it is definitely the best OS Microsoft has to offer. I can now safely say, it's time to forget Windows 7/8.x for good.Windows 10 is here to stay!

What is a good computer for CAD work?

Hi, currently I have a Mac, but bootcamp does no work well enough for autocad inventor so I am looking for a new laptop, mostly just for CAD, as I will be keeping the Mac.
I was hoping someone could help me pick a laptop. Talking with the different companies help lines, I have been given a couple suggestions and I did not know, which is best or if you had any suggestions.
I am a college student so I am trying to spend between $500 to $750, but less then $1000, to keep my costs down and I am not really a computer guy.
Here is what I have found:
ThinkPad T530
Asus Vivobook S500CA
HP ENVY 15t-j000
HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000
I also found this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230987.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, or if I could upgrade a computer I willing to try.
Thanks.

Is windows 10 lighter or faster than windows 8.1?

I guess that it depends on the hardware that you use. I’m using the latest version of Windows 10 and I can say that the difference is huge, mostly in gaming. While others here are saying that the difference was very small, it was a world of difference for my Laptop. GTA V would run at 10–20 FPS and it would crash shortly on Windows 8. Not it constantly runs at 30–40 FPS and I never experienced a crash. A world of difference indeed. Not sure why that happens, most likely because I’m playing with an iGPU which uses the system’s RAM as VRAM. Windows 10 has better memory management so that would explain the huge difference in gaming performance.
