Is Windows Phone An Alternative To Android My Friend Says Its Cool. I Am Using An S3 Right Now

Do Android phones need antivirus or internet security apps?

Before answering your question, you must understand the basic architecture of the Android operating system. Viruses are the consequences of vulnerability of the system to protect itself from any external programs that work maliciously without the knowledge of user and/or system. Here is the basic architecture diagram of the Android:You will notice that all the programs are installed in userland area (uppermost layer) below which application framework is there.Fundamentally all Linux based distributions are immune to any viruses. Android has no exception. Android is just yet another Linux based mobile operating system. So, the answer to your question is NO! Android phones need not any antivirus. But that doesn’t mean that Android is safe from Malwares & Viruses, just the mechanism & propagation (spreading) of the intrusion of the Virus or any Malware is different than that of Windows.Viruses & Malwares come from user installed programs. They can not spread automatically like Windows Viruses. Here, end user is culprit, who confers user rights to such programs that may infect userland area of the applications.Precautions to be taken while installing any App from the store or USB:Don’t trust any application from Play store blindly. Please verify the developer of the app & it’s reputation. e.g. see image:Before installations, please check permission asked by the app. In any case if you feel this app may cause damage, malfunction and any other suspicious permission, do not install that app.(This app seeks permission to retrieve running apps & read sensitive log data. Do not install such applications.) By conferring such permissions you allow that malicious application to take your phone’s control, and you feel that your phone has been infected with the virus.DO NOT INSTALL ANY POPULAR ANTI-VIRUS (OFTEN FOUND AD ON TV) ON YOUR PHONE. SUCH ANTI-VIRUS GENERATES FAKE VIRUS REPORT AND CONVINCE USER THAT HOW IT WORKS PERFECTLY AND HOW WISE YOU ARE THAT YOU CHOSE TO INSTALL THIS ANTI-VIRUS.Also do not install such apps which displays malicious ads which tells that your phone has been infected and install so and so anti-virus. Do no trust on such ads and simple do not install such apps which shows such ads.

IPhone 4S or Windows Phone Mango in a Samsung Focus S?

I am tired of Android lack of responsiveness and lack of consistency. My wife's 3G iPhone is twice as fast and years light smoother. So I was convinced to get now a IP4S until I borrow my friends Samsung Focus S with Windows Mango. In an hour I got in love, it beats iPhone in smoothness and response, and the integration between apps for social, pictures, and business outlook is all innovation, leaving Apple back in the past. My friend says his WP never crashed , that I cannot say from the iPhone, less from the Android pos. Also this Focus S hardware is really beautiful, much lighter and thinner than iPhone with a 4.3 inch screen using oLED tech that looks like digital ink on a real black paper. What I don't understand, is how with this quality, is not Windows Phone much more popular by now, especially when comparing to Android. I know that the number of apps available still is like a quarter or less than the others, but this is changing day by day and all important apps are there. Am I missing something? Any experiences with WP?

If everyone I know loves their Windows phone, then why doesn't anyone else buy it?

I personally think it comes down to this, there are people buying and recommending Windows Phone, but it really comes down to the carriers and their sales people to push and sale the devices. People can love their phones all they want but if the populace is not aware of Windows Phone, then how exactly would they know to buy it? Windows Phones are competing with iOS and Android, two phones operating systems that historically have gotten pushed far more than Windows Phones have. When a customer who doesn't care which phone or operating system they end up with and goes into a their local carrier/Bestbuy store, they mostly either get told to buy an iPhone or the newest high end Android phone. So when the sales people aren't even trying to sale your phone, or are trying to convince people to pick another os over yours, how exactly are you supposed to sale them outside promoting them with advertisements? The only Windows Phone OEM who has been trying to change this has been Nokia since their introduction of their Lumia 900. Whether this will make a difference in the long run remains to be seen. As for the advertisements, Microsoft has historically put out some horrible advertisements for WP but as of late has seem to turn this around in different ways, like their Smoked by Windows Phone campaign. Also some think (and I tend to agree) that the name Windows in Windows Phone was a horrible choice for the name of their new OS. People tend to think of Windows as uncool, or buggy, or things like that, and that isnt the first thing you want to pop in a potential customers head when they hear of your new struggling OS. They could of named it something like Metro Phone and kept it from being associated with the negativity that comes with the brand Windows. At the end of the day of course its not just up to the carriers to get the word out, about Windows Phone, hopefully with the launch of Windows 8 and the Microsoft Surface more and more people will find out how awesome of an phone and tablet OS Windows Phone is. I like my Windows Phone, the Samsung Focus, been rocking this baby for a year now and its still going strong :)

I factory reset my samsung phone and everything got deleted. any way to restore it?

1. To restore contacts u can go to setting, account and sync option, enter ur google account(the one u used before the reset), then it'll sync ur saved contacts/requires internet connection(u can delete any desired contact like facebook contacts using any third party app like go contact, contact remover, etc later on)
2. There're plenty freewares from playstore unless ur previous apps are paid/sharewares plus many online websites provide android apps n games(just search on google web search)
3. I've been using android for more than a couple of years and never get infected by any virus. With or without antivirus, any smartphone with any Operating System still have chances to get malfunctions which mostly are system confliction; any malfunction caused by overwrite input between one app and another or third party app conflict system app which run in the same field(e.i third party camera app which has more advanced features vs default stock camera app which end up in confliction that influence general system; just an example).
2. A factory reset usually solves most problems. I've done it more than thirty times(i guess), get hard brick and soft brick but after i managed to solve them, my phone's still running well till now.
