Is Working Out A Waste Of Time

Is working at a job a waste of life?

A few people commented about staying in school or getting a College Degree... Well, I HAVE a 4 year degree in Communication Arts. It cost me $48,000 in debt to earn this degree. Going to college is WORTHLESS today in 2011... There ARE NO JOBS that pay over $10 per hour anymore.

Even if you do go to college, you end up with so much debt it will take you 25 years to pay off. Your Graduating from college with a MORTGAGE payment in student loans.

So Going to school does nothing more than keep the schools in business. It does NOT help you get a job.

The only way to get a "Good Job" is if you KNOW someone or have family members who can pull strings for you. Otherwise, your just like everyone else, a slave for hire that will be lucky to make $10 per hour.

I hate working out..waste of time and money?

I don't feel good afterwards. I only feel tired and sweaty in a bad way and puts me in a bad mood. I have tried to build a body, with protein drink, but it never worked. This is the routine i followed

It was waste of both money and time. I saw no change at all in my weight and physical appearance. At first, i thought it was something i was doing wrong, but then i realized I was never meant to have a good-looking body. I was made that way.

My parents are paying for the gym, and I have tried to tell them to cancel my membership, but they do not listen.

As for my diet, I never liked fast-food so i don't go for them that much and it was and still consists of lean meat, fish, beans, vegetables, and fruits.

Is the gym a waste of time?

Waste of time? Is that the best you could come up with? You know what I hate the most? Travelling. I like going places. But I hate the journey in between. I often feel like it's a waste of time. But how many people would agree with me? Isn't it something along the lines of "it's the journey that matters, not the destination"I recently answered a similar question here - Tom Thomas' answer to Is going to the gym a waste of money? I think I can rephrase it a little bit and answer you. It's all the same basic question if you ask me.We live in a world where people waste time with alcohol, fast foods and drugs. If I say all those are nothing but waste of money and time, would everyone on Quora agree? No. It's just like that. But with all those around, if you have to pick on Gym to point out as a 'waste of money' issue then I guess it's just your opinion.Buddy you don't need gym to stay fit or healthy. You don't have to be really mascular either. Heck nobody is even forcing you to. Still why do you want to pick on the gym? The one happy place where people like me enjoy a feeling of belonginess. Why would you do that OP? Why???But as long as there are things that make us unhealthy and as long as we spend time doing those things, calling the Gym as a waste of money or time is a moo point!!!

Is working out over an hour a day a waste of time?

An hour a day is perfect. According to Men's Health The Body You Want in the Time You Have, it's possible to obtain results with half hour of weightlifting. What you need to do is less rest and sets. Cardio needs at least 20 minutes to burn fat, but if this isn't your purpose (I mean, you only want to put to work your heart), with 10-15 minutes is enough.

Is college a waste of time and money?

It's both.

It's a waste of time if you're just there not learning a thing, not knowing what you want to study in, not having a clear vision on what you want to do with your life, not having a back up plan if the profession doesn't work out for you, not having the slightest clue on important skills and education that will help you physically and financially, and pretty much wasting years spending $500 on textbooks when you know you can rent or buy them cheap online saving that exact amount. Or, my personal favorite, not thinking about getting financial aid = grant money you DON'T pay back!!!

Honestly, having a college education can benefit you with the knowledge you need in order to survive this world. Knowing how to pay your taxes, how the government work, what marketing businesses are out there and why, how to represent yourself well enough in getting a job, basic studies on history, math, ENGLISH, politics (YES, required), and science...

There are a lot of reason why you need it. And just because certain billionaires didn't go and became successful, doesn't mean it will happen to everyone and you. Mainly in the end they had to understand how business works as well. Also, do know majority of them came from wealthy families so that makes a difference.

Other than that, whatever you plan to do for yourself is your decision alone. I chose to go to college so I can gain the knowledge and experience I want in the career in business. There are a lot of things I can do and want to do. If you don't have that ambition in wanting to do something with your life, then are just wasting your time.

Am I wasting my time if I go to the gym a few times a week and eat unhealthy food (pizza, coke, fries etc.) just as often?

Yes and no.You can get fit working out on a regular basis and eating junk food, or foods that are not inherently healthy. However, you are far more likely to see results faster and be able to maintain those results if you also change your eating habits.I’ll put it this way. Just like a car, your body needs fuel to see results. Do you know what happens when you put sugar in your gas tank? Contrary to popular belief, it won’t cause catastrophic engine failure, but the same can be said for when you put sugar into your body, right? You don’t shut down completely. Don’t worry, I’m going somewhere with this.In tests of sugar-gasoline mixture in a lawnmower engine, while the sugar didn’t shut down the engine, it did cause the performance to degrade overall because of caramelized sugar on the piston, valves, cylinder heads, and pretty much everywhere else. Sugar basically does the same in your body. It may give you an initial boost, but then it degrades your performance with the crash. So, while you’re not wasting your time per se by eating junk and working out, you’re certainly not doing yourself any favors. You’ve started the trend of healthy habits and decision making by working out. Baby steps. Try cutting back one unhealthy meal a week for a few weeks, then two, and so on. Learn to make your favorite foods at home, that way you know what ingredients are going into it. I like to use ground turkey in place of ground beef in a lot of recipes. What you put in is what you get out. Fitness is 80% nutrition and 20% workout, but it’s 100% mindset.I hope this helps, and I wish you all the best with your ongoing fitness goals!

Is it worth working out or is it just wasting life?

If you mean ‘waste life’ like ‘‘wasting time’ I would say, maybe? Here’s the thing. I am starting to believe it’s all genetics. But I don’t know if we know for sure.I’ve been working out at least 5 days a week for 20 years now. I’ve done every workout under the sun. Yoga, P90X, walking, running, every Jillian Michaels DVD, all the Beachbody DVDs, hired a personal trainer, ran a marathon, CrossFit, Pilates, etc etcI have tried it all.I’m 43 now. I’ve never had a 6 pack and my knees are trash. My left shoulder has some serious issues that I largely ignore and I’ve been gaining weight for the last couple of years. But I am FIT. My blood pressure is 98/60. My heart rate is that of an endurance athlete. I am (aside from my tummy and boobs) a solid chunk of muscle. I’m strong. Now I work out at a training gym for 1/2 hour a day, in a class setting. I love it and I’ll stay there, barring injury.I hurt my knee pretty badly a couple of years ago and had to take some time off. All I did was walk/yoga. I started feeling soft all over and I hated it. So, that’s my only motivator. I don’t think the gym is for weight loss…that’s 100% diet.If you don’t mind feeling soft? Don’t bother.

Is working out pointless?

Not at all.
Physical activity is not just useful to gain/lose weight but is also useful for cardiovascular health, improved muscular endurance, stress relief, fun, better sleeping patterns & self-confidence.

Maybe spend some more time doing resistance training using weights & try to eat more protein rich foods.
And give your body some more time to bulk up, since you're still quite young, and it should become easier to bulk up once you get older.
