Most Dysfunctional Family?

Who has the most dysfunctional family? Divirced, remarried, split up, lived with aunts uncles, abused, beat down, smacked up?

My childhood was tough. My parents were divorced when I was 4. My older brother and sister went to foster homes. I went for a year, then back with my mom. Never new my real father. My mom met her next husband, they both were alcoholics, faught, destroyed the house, smoked.

It was a tough childhood but I wouldnt change it for anything because I like the way I turned out. Anyone else care to tell the tale of their youth will all the sordid details included?

I will put the answers to a vote and see who wins the award for most messed up family.

In banning and challenging books, what is the definition of "anti-family"?

Also, I'm planning to write a novel about a cerebral palsic adult (like myself) who doesn't put much faith in family togetherness because of what he experienced in his life, and uses this to become a controversial radio host. What I'm talking about includes a father who was phyiscally and verbally abusive to him, yet he dotes on his three older sisters; his mother eventually takes him away from this when she divorces; a budding stepfamily that two of his sisters try to break up but fail; arguments about the spanking debate in high school (my protagonist is anti-spanking and this DOES NOT change when he eventually becomes a parent himself;) said sisters getting into abusive military marriages they won't leave, in which one is eventually killed (which is the basis of sibling fights;) and a marriage based on adultery throughout that he leaves despite objections, among all major things. Would this book eventually get challenged as being anti-family upon being published?

Why do so-called conservatives (Republicans) in the United States have liberal beliefs (and vice versa)?

Originally, the two parties were as you imagine them to be- the Republicans were the Liberals, and believed in individual human rights, and the Democrats were the conservatives, and believed that governments and groups can overrule individual rights. The big issue was Slavery.Lincoln created the Republican Platform on the concept that slavery should be abolished, while the Democrats, who were mostly southerners, believed their economy was dependent on slavery. That was how it was, Liberal Republicans and Conservative Democrats, until 1948. The Democratic Party supported the Civil Rights movement, and that got the Southern Conservative Democrats so ticked off they formed their own party- the Dixiecrats.United States presidential election, 1948Then in 1968, along came Richard Nixon.Audience, you can boo now, because he is the villain of the story.Nixon devised the "Southern Strategy". The Republican party openly embraced Racism and Evangelical Christianity to win the Dixiecrats over, and it worked. The formerly Democratic South turned Republican, And the Democrat North, turned from the Republican party in horror and became Democrats- who were Liberal since the Dixiecrats left. By the Reagan administration, the transition was complete.Southern strategyThat is why you will find poor white southern Christian men voting for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer- because of god, gays, guns, and blacks. To this day it is amazing how you will find Republicans in complete denial of the racism in their party, when the Republican Party even ADMITTED it.RNC Chief to Say It Was 'Wrong' to Exploit Racial Conflict for VotesAs for women's rights, gay rights, and the rights of non-Christians, those issues go hand in had with racism. All forms of bigotry are the same- those people over there are inferior, and must be put in their place. So, along with embracing racism, it was only natural for the GOP to embrace sexism, homophobia, and xenophobia as well. Now, the GOP is is a quandary- the bulk of the population is against racism, so much so we elected a black president, so the GOP has to abandon it.But if they do, they will loose those poor southern whites who would otherwise not vote against their own economic interests.

Is India a democracy or a republic? Does India have a direct or semi democracy compared the US or UK?

India is a democratic republic as stated in the Preamble of the constitution of india.Being democratic means the rule of people , which here means the majority rule. Now to have a democratic rule you have to act on the wishes of the people , which means ideally everybody should be a part of law making and governance of India, But India was highly illiterate when it got freedom so direct democracy was avoided and indirect representative democracy was preferred.India is a republic. Being a republic does not simply means that “head of state is elected “. It is more associated with the rule of Law. Now what is rule of law in a democratic system ?? Suppose in a democratic setup a majority of people , say 80, are strongly opposed to ideology of minority and consequently decide that they are incorrect , so they be punished or probably kill them ( and it is not an exaggeration, it actually happened with socrates who had to drink hemlock due majority of people founding him guilty ). Now here comes the rule of Law , which will protect the citizen as “ everybody has a right to fair trial before punishing him /killing him)-(corresp to Right to Life in India ). SO being republic State will interfere to protect its minority citizens from the brunt of majority i.e. democracyWE always talk about democracy , but It is the republic feature which protects the democracy from being behaving in a violent manner. If it is not the republic , Democracy might turn to anarchy and then oligarchy .These Fundamental rights and judiciary just provide the republic character of indian polity. US always talked about the republic feature to stabilise its polity
