Given recent events with The Met, what do Police think of Political correctness?
I personally think the political correctness thing has gone a bit too far. There are certain issues that should be addressed so that we can all be civilised to each other but lets not lose our own identity. It seems we've gone too far 'the other way' in changing our own views and cultures to accommodate those who are easily offended. I think that if you are living in a country that has certain cultures and a certain way of life then you should respect that. I'm not saying people should lose their own identity, just be respectful of where you live and those around you. I would if I lived somewhere else and if I didn't like it, I'd go somewhere else.
Why are there multiple very different designs for Metropolitan Police cars and vans in London?
Remember that there are two police forces in London, Metropolitan Police and City of London police and there are design differences between their vehicles.And now there are these (saw one locally last week) Smart Police Car @ Top Speed (I thought there had been a decision in 2012? to introduce ‘battenburg’ blue and yellow livery, rather than the stripes?) This a Smart car in CoL livery but a model, Smart police carBut do you mean lots of types of vehicle? Such as vans and cars? (Dog vans, horse boxes, armed police vehicles, non-armed police vehicles, various specialist police units and their vans … I gather that a difference from the US is that British police use vans to transport a group of officers and suspects rather than multiple cars.)Small bit of excitement on my estate recently when a car was being searched by officers from both (sets of vehicles belonging to both forces, can’t recall which owned the dog unit). We were intrigued as to what CoL police were doing in a Met Police area (we are about a ten minute drive from the City’s eastern boundary although an emergency vehicle may be quicker). The officers didn’t supply an answer.
