Issues With My Kidneys

My cat is food obsessed but has kidney issues. Are there good options for feeding a cat with kidney issues besides commercial kidney diet foods?

“My cat is food obsessed but has kidney issues. Are there good options for feeding a cat with kidney issues besides commercial kidney diet foods?”Can feed human baby foods, meat varieties with less than 50% protein and no onions/garlic powder. Cats usually prefer the 1st stage, pureed ones.Or there are recipes for home cooked kidney diets*, also ask your vet. Can cook larger batches, divide into smaller baggy portions, freeze & use as needed. If feeding >40% non-commercial diet, will need to supplement with cat vitamins that include taurine..Besides giving subcutaneous fluids under the skin at home or by technicians at the vet clinic on a regular basis, there is a newer treatment called calcitriol. It can extend the life of the kidneys for up to several years. It works better the milder/earlier you diagnose kidney failure. However, being a very potent treatment, it requires careful monitoring & repeat blood work (BUN, Creat, Phosphorous, & Calcium at minimum, there are mini-panels designed for this), every 3-4 months to monitor levels or it can worsen the kidney failure instead! Also, cats must usually take a medication to bind/get rid of excess phosphorus while using calcitriol. That's because it works by increasing GI uptake of calcium (needed in kidney failure cats) but also phosphorus (not needed). In order to safely use calcitriol, phosphorus levels need to be kept below a certain level, this is critical.Towards the very end, there comes a point where one has to stop calcitriol, because the phosphorus levels become too dangerous to continue. That's why you need to monitor the blood work levels closely. All pets are individuals, and it impossible to tell how much remaining kidney function they have remaining or how long till the end. Generally, the younger the cat at the time of diagnosis the more severe the kidney failure and the less time remaining. Also, I'm assuming regular old age kidney failure.Kidney failure can also be secondary to toxins (lilies, aspirin, etc.), cancer (lymphoma), or genetic diseases (congenital, amyloid deposits, polycystic kidney disease, kidney stones, etc.), which have a much worse prognosis usually* 2 Homemade Recipes for Cats Suffering from Kidney Disorders | Pets4Homes

Is this gas or kidney issues?

I took penicillin for 10 days because I had strep throat. The day before I finished it I started to get really bad intestinal gas and then flank pain in my lower back area (both sides). I ve had it for 4 days now and the gas is really bad and I have a hard time relieving it. The flank pain acts up when the gas acts up and it s tender if I massage the area beneath my ribs on my back.

Can trapped gas cause flank pain in the kidney area? I dont have nausea, fevers, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, or blood in urine (that I can see, anyway). I dont have health insurance and spent a ton of money on the doctors visit and strep test recently so Id like to not go to the doctors again unless absolutely necessary.

Sore kidneys after gallbladder surgery?

The most serious reason would be a post operative infection with a developing septic syndrome. Typical complication of the occluded bile duct is pancreatitis which also is no laughing matter. Unfortunately yur symptoms support both possibilities. Both complications are typical and the also typical next symptom, frequent in those not caring for themselves, is septic shock with cardivascular collapse, which is acutely life threatening and survived in less than 50% of cases. This and all further complications don't care if you are single, double or triple mother and how your planning of the weekend looks like. Your child or children will then be "single children". Worst: Not by fate, but by ignorance. Your doctor does not get any salary increase if you're on leave or not. Basically he doesn't have to care about it. It is YOU YOURSELF who should be concerned about your health. Measure your temperature three times a day and if available: blood pressure. Septic shock is called "hyper dynamic shock". The heart is pumping around 20 liters of blood per minute like on the "Iron Man Marathon" but nothing arrives in the organs. Death cause of septic shock therefore is multi organ failure of MOF which starts with kidney failure. Lung and cardiovascular system is next. Your breathing problems are typical too and called ARDS, meaning "acute respiratory distress syndrome" leading in the end to the necessity of respirator therapy on ICU for weeks of months. After kidney failure it is the second most likely symptom of beginning septic shock. Another relatively early signis total mental distortion with hallucinations and delir. Therefore tell your children and colleagues if that occurs it is not caused by any drugs but you are in urgent need of an emergency ambulance.
The alternative: Stop behaving like a 7 year old child and see your doctor as early as possible who probably will provide you with antibiotics for 7 days. If after a few days symptoms do not reoccur you will be able to go to work on antibiotics.

My kidneys hurt when I bend over?

Usually when I have a UTI which can be caused by many different things (some ppl get them from not wiping properly) anyway First and foremost I say go to a doctor to get that checked out. However if that is not an option for you. Go to your Nearest Walmart or Rite Aid and pick up a bottle of Cystex Liquid Cranberry Urinary Health Complex. 1 tablespoon = 8 glasses of cranberry juice. it costs $9 but it is soo worth it and you just need to make sure you drink a few glasses of water that day and take one tablespoon first thing in the morning and one right before bed. By the next day that soreness should fade significantly if not go away and by the second it should be gone all together. This is if what you are suffering from is a UTI. but it doesn't hurt to try it out and see if that is what's going on. Usually when i feel like im having kidney pain when i bend over or move certain ways its because of a UTI. Anyway IF you do have a UTI this stuff works better than anything i've come across and works within a day so you can't beat that. However thats just one possibility. And I hope that you will still see a doctor to rule out any serious issues. Kidney pain is no joke and should be taken seriously. Also if you do have a UTI cut out your sugar intake for a few days and cut back on salt and also DO NOT TAKE BENADRYL(for watever reason) if you have a UTI or kidney pain. it dries you up and makes the issue worse.

Also kidney pain could be the result of a back strain. or bad posture so please be careful.

Metformin and kidney problems.?

I've not found anything in drug side-effects that state that Metformin can give kidney stones, though there is loads of information stating that Metformin shouldn't be used for people who have liver and kidney problems.

Glyburide, by the way, is NOT a substitute for Metformin. The drugs work in totally different ways.

If you need any websites to offer your doctor with regards to not using Metformin in cases where liver and kidney problems exist, ask him/her to take a look at the following. Your doctor may, of course, know that you have had kidney stones in the past, and feel that the use of Metformin is still worth any 'risk' that s/he determines there is, or may feel that kidney stones doesn't warrant undue consideration.
