Issues With Switching To A New Hard Drive

New hard drive problem!!?

So my dad bought me an apple laptop pro 2009 from a friend. His friend did tell him the hard drive was dead and needed a new one. So my dad bought me a Seagate 500gb 7200 rpm. When I replaced the old hard drive with the new hard drive I put in the Mac OS X disc to partition the hard drive. But when I click on one partition is says "Unable to write the last block of the device." I'm not sure what this means. What can I do to fix this or is it the hard drive? I can't do anything with the hard drive like I can't erase it either or anything. What do I do!?!?
Thanks!

Hard drive SMART issue?

You are supposed to buy a new hard drive ASAP.

SMART is internal diagnostics for the hard drive. Hard drives nowadays are smart and have "standby sectors", which are reserved spaces which it can substitute for bad sectors that it encounters in normal operation. You don't even see it in actual use, just slightly slower speed you probably never noticed.

When SMART runs out of these standby sectors, you get an error message like the one you're seeing, that says soon it won't be able to cover up these errors, and you'll see disk read errors and stuff, and it's giving you fair warning ahead of time.

If you continue to ignore it, soon your HD will actually show read/write errors, and eventually corrupt data and other more serious problems.

Does replacing hard drive change ip address?

Changing the Hard drive should not change the I.P. address. An I.P. Address directs to a location on a network, therefore simply changing networks SHOULD change the i.p. address. However if for some reason this fails, a proxy can be used to avoid I.P detection. There are many proxies on the internet that are safe and easy to use. If you use Firefox, than you can even download a proxy extension so you don't have to worry about messing around with internet proxies.

My laptop has Hard Disk Drive issues. If I open the laptop and relocate the hard drive as it is, Will the problem be solved?

sorry can't understand your question properly. If you have a problem with your hard drive like it couldn't detect. check it into another computer then again it couldn't detect then it means that your hard drive has been crashed so you should purchase new hard drive. and if it can detect into another computer then it means your boot device from where hard drive start to detect that portion having some issues or your motherboard having issues. so contact nearest computer shop.

Is "Hard Drive Diagnostic" a virus or a legitimate windows 7 issue?

It's so sad that there are people who put so much effort into ruining other people's computers. There is some chance that it's hoax. These people are good at making it look real.

The key is performance - if your system is truly running way too slow, then you have a problem.

1st option is a system restore Start ----> All Programs -----> System Tools ----- System Restore

Next option is to Restart the computer, but while it's booting up, hit F10 System Recovery when you see that option. On some people's machines it's F11, but is should tell you right as it's starting up.

Next, it's never a bad idea to defrag the computer, although I have to tell you that it can take some time.

Start ----> All Programs ----> System Tools -----> Disk Defragmenter

When all else fails, a computer shop can get rid of all viruses for you and maybe give you some advice about how to keep it virus free, although it isn't easy.

Good Luck!!!

Will replacing the hard drive in my Gateway M275 fix my problem?

Hey guys yesteray my laptop crashed and i can't get it past this black screen with a blinking cursor becuase the computer was having major problems with MANY viruses. I don't have the recovery cd. It is a Gateway M275, and i know how to replace the hard drive already, and download the drivers from Gateway. My question is will replacing the hard drive with one say from Best Buy, i wa thinking one of their 120GB ones (mine has a 40GB on right now), fix my problem? And then what allis inolved afterward? Will i just have to reinstall the OS? I have a friend with a Microsoft XP Pro install cd that hes going to let me borrow. Will this work? BTW my laptop originally came with Pro when i bought it FYI. Thanks for the help guys.

Internal hard disk drive not found?!?

I have a Dell laptop, it's a couple of months old, and it's giving this error message

Internal hard disk drive not found to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive. No Bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, f2, enter setup menu, f5 enter PSA.

It's dell inspiron 15 Windows 8

Before it actually crashed I always heard like a ticking noise, a split second noise that happened every once in a while, like metal hitting metal, but it was only a split second

I tried to 'reseat' the harddrive, twice. No luck.

Please help, and also if it isn't fixable I would love some links to buy a new harddrive. I have no idea what harddrive the laptop needs.

Can I swap hard drives between laptops?

As long as they’re both the same size and connect via the same interface (SATA/IDE/etc) it could work. The operating system and software are located ON those hard drives, so if you did switch them the operating system and software (not to mention personal files) would switch as well. The drivers for the hardware located in the original laptops is on those hard drives as well, so if they do boot up some hardware (audio/advanced graphics/etc) might not work until you update your drivers. Usually operating systems have their own sets of default drivers that detect your hardware and allow you to still boot up when new hardware is used. I would make sure they boot up first with the existing information on them just to make sure they’ll work with your hardware, then I would wipe them and install fresh operating systems. Good Luck.

Why is my external hard drive not showing up in my computer?

Answering to give another option of what MAY be the problem. As you stated the hard drive isn’t showing up in “my computer”, I’m taking this as you mean within the “folder” My Computer (or simply Computer for newer versions of Windows), it may need to be formatted and drive letter assigned. This is a problem I run into every blue moon and after about 15-minutes of fidgeting around I figure out this simple problem.Open the start-menu, and right-click on “My Computer” (or “Computer” for newer operating systems), then select “Manage”. Once the Computer Manager window opens, on the left side panel, expand “Storage” and you should see “Disk Management”, select it. Within the main window you should see all your drives on display: OS (C:), CD/DVD (D:), and so on. Look for a volume that defines your external hard drive but doesn’t have the parenthesis around a single letter. This is likely your new external hard drive.Right-click the volume, then select “Change Device Letter and Paths”. In the next window click “Add…”. And in the next window click the radio button for “Assign the following drive letter”, then in the drop-down to the right, select a letter for the drive. Once done, click OK and back in the main Computer Management window, the volume should now read “Volume_Name_here (F:)”, where “F” is the letter you’ve assigned to the hard drive. The external hard drive should now show up in My Computer (Computer).Again, not saying any of the existing answers wrong, but giving another potential answer due to the lack of details given. My laptop's hard disk drive has crashed 3 times, and has been replaced each time with a new one. Is it the HDD problem or is there some issue with the MOTHERBOARD?

What do you mean by Crashed, its not recognized or SMART status bad or something like that, have you changed your hard disk through warranty, if so there is a very good chance that you received a bad hard disk, the manufactures in most cases will not give new hard drives they will fix some hard drive and give it as replacement, if you have bought them, then you should check it in another laptop or use a bridge a check it in your laptop itself, if the drives are not recognized, then it is a good thing to get your laptop checked for any power problems.
