It Appears That Yahoo Answers Is Being Unfairly Censored . Why That Is My Question.

Why is censorship of the press undemocratic?

Really?

Democracy: Rule by the people

Press: Organisations that deliver information to the people.

Is there a website similar to Quora that doesn't censor questions or answers based on their own "morals"?

The first thing that comes to mind if 4chan, while the second one is, indeed, yahoo answers. Are you sure you wanna go there, though?Generally when the site is unmoderated it turns into a cesspool of toxicity where people insult each other non stop. As without punishments in place, for many people there is no incentive to behave in civil/polite manner. And, of course you can roll out your own blog and disable comments on it…

Is the latest form of censorship on Quora to just claim an answer is plagiarism even when it is yours with nothing from elsewhere?

You quote the Torah and call it “yours with nothing from elsewhere?”??Read the rules for Quora and you’ll know what you did wrong. To find Quora’s rules, left click on your profile picture. Then click help.Plan to spend about two hours reading the guidelines and rules if you want to avoid having the community report your answers for a violation.Quora is moderated by its members more than by the moderators. Members report violations to the moderators. Failure to use block quote for information that originates elsewhere will frequently be reported. This is not censorship. It is someone who doesn’t understand the rules claiming unfair treatment. As written, the linked post plagiarizes the Torah.

Has yahoo censored all obama, negative comments?is open debate dead in the land of the free?

Is the downvote-answer feature necessary on Quora?

I think it is being unfairly gamed by liberal Democrats to suppress conservative thought and opinion.  I have a Ph.D. in political science.  I've taught at some of the most highly ranked schools in the nation.  My early contributions, however, were quickly trashed by existing liberal users who seem to think it is wrong to even allow a conservative answer to appear on this site.   I think making down votes public would certainly make it easier to identify who is responsible for collapsing perfecty good answers unfairly.  I have, of course, brought a number of these unfairly collapsed answers to the attention of folks at Quora and I've been pleased to see them restored and protected after I made my complaint.  Nevertheless, this is a tedious process that needs a systematic fix.  At the very least, Quora ought to identify the liberals who are going out of their way to collapse answers for purely ideological reasons and to weaken what ever clout they enjoy on this site.   My sense is that there is a sincere interest in seeing more conservatives contribute to Quora.  This is especially important given the upcoming election cycle.  I don't think it helps Quora to be known as a site that unfairly squashes conservative and libertarian comments and answers.   One of the best things to do, in my opinion, would be for Quora to immediately uncollapse the answers of those conservatives who have been unfairly targeted and harmed by down voting, especially Jevan Lemoine.Mr. Jevan is a Tea Party Movement supporter who has come to be known as the King of Collapsed.  From reading his posts, as a political scientist, it is obvious that he has been targeted purely for political reasons.  I urge Quora reviewers and administrators to investigate Mr. Lemoine's treatment on this site as an example of what not to do.  As far as I can tell, Mr. Lemoine has been very patient with Quora.  As far as I can tell, he has been the victim of cyber abuse.

Why does China have internet censorship?

The Golden Shield project was proposed to the State Council by Premier Zhu Rongji in 1993. As a massive surveillance and content control system, it was launched in November 2000, and became known as the Great Firewall of China. However, the blocking of websites can be circumvented and is generally ineffective at preventing the flow of information to determined individuals. The effectiveness of the project is the limitation on access it creates for the majority of users who are not technologically savvy or intent on seeking information. Some argue that it is more effective at providing a Chilling effect rather than actually blocking content.
The Internet has provided some interesting tactics for the dissemination of news. In contrast to some early fears that the fluidity of web content would make it easy to rewrite history and strengthen the hand of the government, the opposite appears true. One common tactic in publishing sensitive topics is to post the article on a newspaper website, and then comply with government orders to take it down. By the time the article is removed, people will have read it negating the point of the censorship order.
However, in fear of closure, online service providers sometimes hire moderators known as big mama to monitor user-provided content. Nevertheless, some officially supported websites such as the Strong Country Forum hosted by the People's Daily are less restricted than others in discussing sensitive topics.
Amnesty International notes that China “has the largest recorded number of imprisoned journalists and cyber-dissidents in the world.” The "offences" they are accused of include "communicating with groups abroad", "opposing the persecution of the Falun Gong", "signing online petitions" and "calling for reform and an end to corruption".

"More answers from": How may you change your list of Quora ANSWERS at the end of an answer?

A2AI’m reasonably confident that one cannot (directly) change the “more answers from” list that follows one’s Quora answers because that list is generated automatically by Quora. It is theoretically possible that one might be able to influence that list indirectly by altering certain characteristics of one’s answers. However, given that (a) we don’t know which algorithm Quora uses to produce the list, (b) Quora is constantly changing the nature and details of its features, and (c) one has limited control over the likely relevant aspects of one’s answers, the practical likelihood of exerting such influence is somewhere near zero.
