It Is Possible To Become Weak At The Age Of 30 If I Take 3 Drugs Anti-psychotic Anti-depressant

Is smoking cannabis whilst taking sertraline (anti depressant) bad for your brain?

Everyone seems to have in depth answers and they are good . Mine is simple. I quit smoking years ago and my need for seratraline went away soon afterwards. I know people will disagree with me put cannibus causes anxiety, and lack of motivation. Anxiety also leads to depression.I'm pushing 45 I know many many smokers and ex smokers . Like myself , they went down the same road as I did in my teens and early 20s. I would say 60% of us developed anxiety and 80% a lack of motivation. All was temporary. When I say temporary I mean a few months. Smoking a gram a day is a lot especially with these strong strains nowadays.I'll bet if you were smoking before the seratraline that may have caused the symptoms that got you prescribed it. Just so you know , the withdrawal from that is not very pleasant. When you are on that it changes your enjoyment of getting a natural high or a rush from doing something you love and have a passion for. Let's say if your a fisherman, catching a nice fish won't be as rewarding in your mind. But… it also keeps you from getting very low. It also messes with your sex drive terribly.Just cut back on the THC and keep the seratraline at as low a dose as possible. That's my personal experience. I'm 100% happier without either. Asking me to take a puff off a joint is equivalent to asking me if I would like the flu for a few hours. I'm done with it.

Any danger in combining these 3 drugs: Prozac, Xanax and Ambien?

Real question. Steven Kazmierczak who shot students at NIU was taking those 3 drugs, prescribed by his doctor. It seems dangerous and mind altering. Am I right? Could it be the reason for his deplorable act?

Is it ok if i take my sister's prozac if im depressed?

Hey I saw your question and didn't know where else to post it beside here. Taking your sister's prozac may seem like a good idea to help with how your feeling but it doesn't exactly work that way. When you first start taking an antidepressant you start on the lowest dosage possible. This is because you don't know how your body is going to react to the antidepressant and the side effects can be dangerous. If you take a high dosage of this then the side effects can be severe and possible worse. There are also certain tests you have to take before gettin prescribed the medication. This is to make sure that nothing is wrong and that you are able to take the medicine. People under 18 should be under a Professional prescribers care and should be closely monitored when taking medication. This is because prozac can cause your symptoms to become much worse especially when taken at a dosage above the one you should be taking. There is also the chance of serotonin syndrome which can cause halluctions, ect. Also weed and prozac or any other antidepressants DO NOT MIX. Horrible things may occur when combining the two. This may sound confusing because your sister takes prozac but that doesn't mean it is going to work for you. That's because every one is born with different chemical makeup so finding the right medication for you is kind of an experimentation to see which one is right for your chemical makeup. Everyone is different when it comes to this. Also antidepressant aren't a take when needed pill, they take up to at least 3 weeks to feel improvement of everyday symptoms and that's only if it work on you. Its a process of trial and error. Please do not try taking the medication for your own safety, I really think that if your considering medication you should go to a psychiatrist or your doctor and discuss what treatment plans would be best for you. Help yourself and try some therapy, it doesn't make you weak it makes you stronger. Trust me.

I am Bipolar but am worried that the treatment meds will make me gain weight...your experience?

I believe OLANZAPINE is the correct spelling and it is the generic for Zyprexa, one of the meds that can make you gain a lot of weight. Another med with lots of side effects and weight gain is Depakote (valproic acid). I am not sure why you are being started on these, as there are other meds with less side effects available. Lithium has different side effects, and does require regular blood work because if levels are too low it wont help, too high and it's toxic. However, many people are helped by Lithium. It can affect your thyroid function, so make sure you MD checks those levels or sends you to an endocrinologist for monitoring. I would talk to your MD about trying something besides Zyprexa to begin with. Abilify (aripriprazole) has been very good for my daughter and nephew, both of whom are Bipolar. They take it in combination with Lamictal (lamotrigine). My daughter also takes Seroquel (quetiapine). She has taken Geodon as well. The worst side effects were with Depakote--fast, serious weight gain (not just 2-3 lbs, we're talking 20 to 30 lbs in a short time). She has gained weight with Seroquel, too, as she is on a pretty high dose, but nothing like Depakote. Also, Depakote (and I believe Zyprexa) are associated with with something called polycystic ovarian syndrome, a serious metabolic (hormonal) disorder with lots of nasty repercussions like infertility, obesity, diabetes, etc. I would not prescribe either to a female patient until trying other options.
You need the meds; bipolar doesn't resolve on its own, believe me. We've been through this before. You may have to try many different combinations and dosages until you get it right, but don't give up. Therapy is important, too. Good luck to you.
