Is it true that India is ranked as the 6th wealthiest country in the world?

YesAccording to market research company New World Wealth, the world has accumulated $215 trillion in private wealth, a 12% increase over the last year.Incredibly, the vast majority of this wealth – about 73.5% – is held by just 10 countries:RankCountryWealth ($ Trillions)Change (2007-2017, %)#1United States$62.620%#2China$24.8198%#3Japan$19.522%#4United Kingdom$9.9-2%#5Germany$9.70%#6India$8.2160%#7France$6.6-11%#8Canada$6.425%#9Australia$6.183%#10Italy$4.3-19%Over the last decade, China and India have more than doubled their wealth. Meanwhile, developed economies like the United States and Japan have increased wealth at modest rates – and some, like Italy and France, even lost modest amounts of private wealth over that duration of time. Finally, it should be noted that the United Kingdom’s decrease above is mainly due to the depreciation of the GBP, which dropped in dollar terms from roughly $2.00 to $1.35 over the decade in question.FUTURE PROJECTIONSHow is global wealth expected to shift in the future?According to New World Wealth, the same 10 countries will dominate the landscape – but the order will change considerably over the next decade:Proj. RankCountryProj. Wealth ($ Trillions, 2027)Change (2017-2027, %)#1United States$75.120%#2China$69.4180%#3Japan$25.430%#4India$24.7200%#5United Kingdom$10.910%#6Germany$10.610%#7Australia$10.470%#8Canada$8.330%#9France$7.310%#10Italy$4.710%While the ranking order of the top three wealthiest countries will remain the same, India is expected to shoot up 200% to claim the #4 position with $24.7 trillion in private wealth.Meanwhile, France and Australia are two other significant movers – and they are going opposite directions.France will continue its descent down the ranking to 9th place with just 10% growth in a decade, and Australia will increase wealth at a rate that is very impressive for a developed economy. By 2027, it’s expected to be the world’s seventh richest country in terms of private wealth, with a total of $10.4 trillion. That will rival powerhouses like Germany and the United Kingdom, each with private wealth near the $11 trillion mark.Credits :-http://www.visualcapitalist.com/...

India is ranked 3rd in world economy. Why is it called developing or poor and uneducated?

Your assumption is wrong. India is ranked 3rd Largest Economy in terms of PPP. India is ranked the 6th largest economy in terms of Nominal GDP. Nominal is calculated in absolute measure and it remains the same. A more logical measure of calculating GDP is the Nominal approach. That being said, being the 6th largest GDP is itself brilliant! But, there are several reasons to keep in mind before celebrating:-India has the second largest population in the world. Larger the population, higher will be the GDP. The population growth rate is also 1.9%. The fertility is 2.3 children born/woman. We are also one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Also, larger the population, slower will be the development of the country. Since there will be a lot of diverse people, there will be conflicts and the distribution of resources and opportunities will be uneven. This is the biggest hurdle in India’s quest to be a developed nation. Large population comes with numerous problems like overcrowding, unemployment, lower life expectancy etc. Other than that, we have a terrible sex ratio as well. (944:1000)Coming to education, India’s literacy rate is 74.04%. Also, India has the largest illiterate population in the world. 82.14% of men & 65.46% of women are literate. There is a drastic gender disparity. Now, to make the situation even worse, only 10% of the university age population in India has access to education beyond higher secondary schooling.Source- The Times of India. ( Only 10% of students have access to higher education in country - Times of India )3. Now, coming to poor. Poverty is an endless battle for India. In 2011, less than 22% people lived under Poverty Line in India. Obviously, many people disagree with the existing method of calculating the population below poverty line (including me). A rich, educated and developed nation wouldn’t have such a sizable chunk living under Poverty Line, right? India with 17.5% of total world's population, had 20.6% share of world's poorest in 2011. India is the second most unequal country in the world with the top one per cent of the population owning nearly 60% of the total wealth. So essentially, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. (India second most unequal country in the world: Wealth Report)Source- Planning Commission.Let me tell you something, GDP is not a measure for assessing whether a country is rich or poor or literate or illiterate or developed or developing or under developed.

Why are indian people so skinny?

What Indian people have you been looking at ?
Its true that obesity is less in India. Not because they can't afford to eat but because they don't want to be obese !
But India has its share of skinny and plump like any other.

Also, Indian food is a well balanced (often vegetarian) diet with sufficient emphasis on greens, milk products, proteins and fewer carbs. All nutrients and trace elements are included. Red meat is hardly eaten.
Authentic Indian food, by the way, is not the spicy greasy stuff you eat in american/english restaurants.

@ ignorant idiots : India is not a poor country ! No tv in your cardboard box ?
India ranks fifth in the world in number of billionaires.
But their combined fortune is still far more than some of the first four.
For instance, the combined fortune of India's 100 richest is $276 billion, more than the $170 billion total net worth of their Chinese counterparts that are ranked fourth in the number of billionaires.
India's wealthiest person, Reliance Industries' Mukesh Ambani, has a fortune of $32 billion, more than five times the $5.8 billion net worth of BYD's Wang Chuanfu, China's richest citizen.

There are enough McDonalds and other american fast food chains in India. But Indians just don't think of fast food as all that cool, I suppose.

People from certain countries (guess which) with unpaid credit card bills and limited food stamps should, on the other hand, eat sensibly instead of running up junk food bills on credit.

Why were certain caste ranked higher than others?

It is the prestige of your job and once you were in the class you basically couldn't get out.
If you were a banker you were in a better class than those who cleaned the sewers
It isn't just India that have the caste system, and even in the Western world there are still traces of it.
My parents wanted me to get into office style work whilst I preferred to use my hands as a tradesman, and that to them was a lower level.
