Ivneed An Advice Anything Would Help I Been Reading Self Help Books But I Can

Christians : What do you think of self help books ? ?

I have an AA Big Book that I read, which I guess in a sense could be viewed as a self help book. There are also books with daily reflections and things I read that are also AA related. An yes they help me a lot. As an alcoholic I have to read things from the recovering alcoholics point of view. Just like someone that suffers from some other illness would be comforted by reading someone that has been through the same things as them. I get a lot of encouragement out of my books. There are Bible passages that are comforting too. And I might feel a little guilty for saying this, but sometimes the Bible isn't enough, but I think God understands that.

HELP I NEED ADVICE!!! =(( answers?

okay, goodness no. Usually your dreams are subconscious worries. Perhaps you're worried too much about death, religion, what comes next, or any thing along those lines, but merely dreaming something does not mean it will happen

People dream they die all the time and it doesnt happen, or they dream of death, suicide, murder, babies, all kinds of things that rarely happen. Dreams are just dreams, the only way they have meaning is if you search to hard and make them connect to something else. You won't die. At least I hope not. Just calm down, chill out, and read a good book, exercise, or journal.

Keeping a dream journal is an excellent way to track your dreams and see what sort of things are on your mind. If you're really worried look around for a low-cost or free psychologist and take your dream notes with you. He or she would be able to interpret and tell you what may or may not be on your mind. Hope this helps.

Do self help books really help us? Do successful people read them? Is it just a way of successful people exploiting unsuccessful people?

I’ve gone a little overboard with the self-help genre over the past couple of years, and I’ve only recently began to notice it’s many flaws. Self-help is a strange field — most of it amounts to people teaching you how to live the life of your dreams by teaching other people how live the life of their dreams. We’ll all end up feeling great about ourselves, but what get’s finished? Truth be told, the life-style of most of these coaches looks incredible! Nothing but white sandy beaches, white teeth and lose white shirts. Who wouldn’t want to live like that?Upon completing an all-inspiring book telling us all the things we love to hear, we want to quit our jobs, run outside and grab the world by the balls and scream “I’m going to win God dammit!” But what are we going to win at? A self-help coach will never do the work for you, nor will she help you find your true calling ( whatever the hell that means ). Your life is yours alone to figure out, and that can be unfortunate or liberating — I’d swing towards liberating.Self-help doesn’t go much deeper than your outer-most layer of skin — most of it just repeats what’s been said over and over again, and that redundancy doesn’t dig deep. It’s like eating candy; it tastes good when your eating it and that makes you happy, but when your done you’re right back to where you started and you can’t think straight. There are some books — I wouldn’t put these within 100 feet of the self-help section in a bookstore — that have been very useful in how I look at life. For example, Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations, Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art, Victor Frannkl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, are all incredible books and can be life-changing. Books like these work because they’re a kick in the pants, not a pat on the back.If I’ve learned anything about the importance of a rational outlook on life, it’s been from the developing events on college campuses in the United States. We can see what happens when people are coddled to the point of — well — madness. We can’t all keep telling each other how great we are, for this makes life harder. Look not to what benefits positive self-talk can bring you, but instead look at examples of how hard work can move mountains.
