What do Japanese think of Korean dramas/movies?

The whole Hallyu Wave started with Winter Sonata becoming VIRAL in Japan! Japanese WOMEN love KDramas - because unlike Japanese dramas, and of course unlike American ones, KDramas targe WOMEN as the main audience. Males tend to sneer at things that aim at such an audience, of course, but women outnumber men in the general population, and more women watch TV, so it seems the Korean entertainment industry’s stategy is paying off big LOLI think the fact that there are Japanese matchmakers advertising they can find Korean husbands for Japanese women speaks for itself on the matter :D

Among Japanese/Korean and Indian movie/dramas, which are more popular in culturally different regions/countries?

From what i read and come across, Korean movies(action, drama) are very well received in the west. Take for example, Oldboy (2003) & The Chaser (2008). I have seen quite a few Korean movies and find them very close in terms of story line and narration. However, they have a style of narration which is a bit different than Indian films. Japanese horror films are very well known and received. Indian films are just now finding their feet on the world stage.India is a very big country in terms of making movies. There are 29 states and most of them make regional films to cater to their audience. However, people from outside call Indian cinema 'Bollywood' when in reality it is just a part of Indian Cinema. There are other woods in India who make better cinema that can cater to the world audience. Kannada cinema called 'Sandalwood' made Lucia (2013 film), which was a brilliant film. Tamil cinema called 'Kollywood' made Jigarthanda (2014). Malayalam cinema known as 'Mollywood' made Drishyam. All these movies were so critically acclaimed that they are being remade in different languages to cater to regional audience. This is not to say Bollywood does not make good movies, they made brilliant films like The Lunchbox (2013) which is nominated for a BAFTA. It is just that there are more brilliant world class films made which get overshadowed due to people stressing too much on Bollywood.Korean movies as of now is winning the race in popularity in culturally different areas. But, in the next few years we can see Indian films being widely received. The time is nigh! Thanks for the A2A.

Homosexual Japanese / Korean drama (movie) + eng sub?

If you can find it, I hear good things about Yaji and Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims (Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468975/comb...

I haven't seen it, but the soundtrack by Zazen Boys is excellent.

Other Japanese Movies/Dramas Like Crows Zero?

My Schoolmate the Barbarian-it's Chinese but has pretty much the same storyline as Crows Zero
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295461/

New Police Story, also Chinese, might be something you would enjoy, group of juvenile delinquents terrorizing cops
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386005/

You might also like Battle Royale, not really about delinquents though http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/

I didn't find Crows Zero to have much of a story line just a lot of fighting, which sort of reminds me of the movie 2LDK http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362387/
