How many remember the 'Dog N Suds' Root Beer Drive Inn Stand?
I grew up in Southern Indiana, where a few Dog N Suds Stands were when I grew up. I believe A & W was more popular, but we had DNS in our hometown, which I liked better. DNS was famous for their 'coney dog sauce,' not to be mistaken for chili dog sauce. Crisp and golden Tater Tots were another side and of course the delicious root beer filled chilled mugs. When you pulled into the Drive Inn stand, you either left your headlights on, or honked the horn, to alert the carhops you were ready to order. Your order was written down on pad as opposed to ordering on a speaker as today's 'Sonic' does. The jukebox playing music inside was relayed on speakers outside for all to hear while they you enjoyed your meal or hung out watching all the guys drive their hot, cars around the stand.
