Job Interview- What Should I Bring

Should I bring my DD-214 to a job interview?

no need to answer if you don't know what a DD-214 is :)

I've done several job interviews since I got out of the Navy last year, but not a single one of them has asked for my DD-214 or ask what condition I was discharged under (honorable, end of enlistment).

Should I not bother bringing it?

And if they don't ask what condition my discharge was, should I find a way to work it into the interview? Maybe I'm paranoid, but sometimes I worry that they're going to think I was kicked out for drugs or something like that, which of course I wasn't.

I've been applying for jobs in the creative field, as I was a journalist in the Navy. The next one--which is an important one--is for a job at a local newspaper. Maybe DD-214s are only crucial in technical fields?

What do you bring to a kfc job interview?

When I had my interview for KFC, they told me to bring a recent report card, so I did. I didn't even end up needing it though, and they didn't even ask about it. If they asked you to bring anything, bring it. If they didn't I'd bring in a report card just in case.

Also, get there about ten minutes early, and look neat and presentable. You don't have to get fully dressed up for the interview though. Be really friendly and easy to talk to and maybe prepare some answers for the questions they'll ask you, such as "Can you think of a time where you had to work with someone you didn't like?" or "When was a time you had to work in a group situation?"

It's really easy and do all that and you're practically guaranteed the job! It worked for me haha :)

Is it acceptable to bring notes into a job interview?

Honestly, it depends on what your notes contain and what you plan to use them for during the interview. I recently answered a similar question on TopResume’s site about the dos and don’ts of bringing notes to an interview. Below is a summary of my advice. When is it alright to bring notes to an interview? If you’re bringing a list of questions to ask your interviewers or some research you’ve done on the company that you plan to reference during your interview, you’re good to go! These types of notes show the recruiter or hiring manager that you did your homework, you’re taking the interview seriously, and you’re genuinely interested in the job opportunity — all good things! When is it inappropriate to bring notes to an interview? It’s not alright to bring a list of talking points or other snippets you’ve prepared for the interview questions you expect to be asked. Whether it’s a response to an interview question that makes you anxious (like “What’s your greatest weakness?”) or a story you’ve prepared in anticipation of a behavioral-based interview question, it’s not a good idea to walk into the interview room with cue cards. It will send the wrong message to recruiters and only hurt your chances of landing the job. When is it alright to take notes during an interview?Taking notes during a job interview is a separate situation altogether. I personally don’t see a problem with it; however, I recommend asking your interviewers if they mind you jotting down notes during the interview process. Most times your question will be greeted with a positive response. Be careful that you don’t spend so much time trying to document the conversation that you forget to actively participate in the conversation — after all, a good part of a face-to-face interview should be spent trying to build rapport with your interviewers. Also, don’t forget to write down each interviewer’s name and email address so you can send a proper thank-you follow-up message the next day.If you’re looking for more interview coaching, check out TopInterview’s services. In the U.S., if you bring a cane to a job interview, how likely are you to get hired?

It could go either way.  I knew someone with this dilemma; to appear "normal" she used the walls for support instead of a cane but eventually she decided to be upfront about her disability to the point of disclosing it in her cover letter....this is how she learned few people read them (or remember all details). It might depend on the type of work.  If working in an office, having a minor mobility problem requiring a cane may not seem like a big deal.  Keep in mind the reason for using a cane can range from an orthopedic problem to something such as multiple sclerosis; if you look healthy, most will assume the problem is related only to your mobility and that you're otherwise healthy, which is  I think that it would not be a good idea to explain the whole picture...by law, they cannot ask before deciding to hire

Should I bring a resume to an interview for a waitress job?

If your resume is too impressive and the place you're working at isn't exactly the gourmet restaurant you could be working at, I don't think you should bring it along. A really good resume may send out the negative message that you are hinting at a better, higher pay.
But if the place you're working for is high-class and no just your normal pizza place, you should think about sending out your resume before the interview if you get shortlisted. Also, check to see that all your work experiences are relevant. If you're applying for a waitress, does it really matter if you've worked at an accounting firm?
