Job/career Tips Or Advice

Job Interview Tips And Advice?

.,. has good tips on questions asked. You should dress conservative and neat in a basic color ~ black, navy, or dark gray with a button down white long sleeve shirt. Wearing a nice jacket and tie will look very professional, and make you look like management material, but you don't have to wear that for this interview. Make sure your shoes are shined, and that the heels aren't marred. Don't wear cologne or any jewelry.

Be friendly, but not too chatty, and smile ~ at appropriate times. They'll want someone who can handle customer service, be friendly and helpful to customers, work well with co-workers and bosses, willing to learn, and thinks on their feet. The interviewer will do most of the talking. Since you have little experience, you'd do well to emphasize your education and grades, ability to work well with others, and how reliable and responsible you are.

Good luck.

Walgreens job advice??

Everyone and I mean EVERYONE gets put on the register their first days cuz it's basically the bulk of what you'll need to know. Most people have no register experience when they get there so teaching you = throwing you right into it... Try not to worry about that part too much...
Keep a small notebook handy or tape a piece of paper with the register codes near your register so you wont' have to ask as much. You usually get the hang of things within the first week of work.

The other thing you should know (and ask your manager about) is getting PM's or promotional monies. There are items in cosmetics that will get you extra $ for every one you sell. i.e.- if you sell an expensive shampoo or foundation, you'll get an extra $.50 on your next paycheck... There are a lot of these things so it's good to know in case a customer needs a recommendation. These change every month by the way. It really adds up after a while!!

Another way to increase your PMs at the register is to greet every customer you pass (whether in Cos or not) and say, "When you're ready to check out, come on over to cosmetics because I never have a line." This way, if they have PMs, you'll get them, and if they don't, well, you're increasing sales for your department which managers and district danagers LOVE to see! :-D

Feel free to message me with any other questions! Good luck and make sure not to take angry customers personally! Your managers are always there to back you up. :-D

Tips on getting a job at McDonalds or KFC, really need advice!!!?

I worked at a KFC Express and it wasn't actually difficult at all. I was only sixteen when I was hired, and I would say that it was fairly easy. I filled out an application, went for an interview, started two days later. I was never given a drug test to work there, but I'm not in NC, and it could be different there; is it mandatory for them to state that they take drug tests in NC? Here, it is, so I would have known during the interview what they would require. I'm sure, even in your case, if a drug test is necessary, they will tell you during your interview.

I was asked very basic questions in my interview. How would I handle a disgruntled customer, how would I handle an employee who isn't doing their work, how would I handle a fire, and basic questions about their menu. Look up KFC online and study their menu, if you need to reference it in your interview and you know your stuff, you're more likely to be hired.

My first day of work I was put on everything; fryer, toaster, cash. I spend about two hours on each station just to get the basics done and overwith - everything was very easy. You put the fries in the deep fryer, push a button. You put the chicken in the deep fryer, push a button. You put the buns in the toaster and wait for them to come through the other side. You ring everything into the computerized till; by far the easiest till I've ever used.

You getting the hours you requested is based solely on the store you applied at. If they have openings on those shifts, you'll probably get them. If they are already full, you'll be moved to another time slot.

Based on NC's minimum wage at $7.25.
35 hours every two weeks = 70
70 hours x $7.25 = $507.50

Federal Income Tax - $47.66
Social Security - $21.32
Medicare - $7.36
State Income Tax - $24.00

Your take-home would be: $407.17

First Job as cashier at Shoprite food store? tips? advice?

It was my first job, too. In fact, I'm still there. I'm in courtesy now, but soon going to be a bookrunner/cashier, then off to dairy! How do I get stuck in these situations.

Yeah, cashiering is really easy. Just make sure you give the right change, never give a check bank to a customer after they paid, and don't no call/no show! Meaning, don't just decide you don't want to work that day and not tell them. At MY shoprite, you have to call out at least 2hours before hand.

They usually want you to look fairly decent since you work with customers. The person who hired you should go over that.

If you ever have a problem with anyone or anything, don't be afraid to discuss it with your manager or the store manager.

Don't be afraid to ask people for ID's when selling cigarettes or alcohol (if your store sells those items). If you don't, you can get in trouble. You have the right to say no to someone you don't think is old enough to purchase these things!

Customers suck sometimes, try not to let them bother you too much.

Don't forget to take off their coupons, but don't let them bully you into taking off more coupons than you should! Also, the computer will usually reject a coupon if it's not for the right thing/ correct amount. If someone buys only ONE item and the coupon says they must buy TWO items, don't be afraid to tell the customer they can't use the coupon.

Old people will get mad about anything and everything. I they have a problem and start giving you crap, call a bookrunner/front end manager over to your register.

Hope this helps!

What are some tips and advice to a graduate currently finding a job and starting out in their career?

First and foremost, google for the following self-assessment tool:"Career Directions Inventory"from the net, so as to get a rough sense of your career inclinations. If interested, also google for:"SWOT Analysis Grid"to explore how best you can mesh your personal Strengths (e.g. skills, knowledge, acumen, competencies, assets, etc.) and Weaknesses (e.g. inherent problems, behavioral shortcomings, negative mindsets, etc.) to exploit all the market Opportunities available out there, while mitigating potential Threats (e.g. industrial/market shifts, changes in workplace practices, new or impending government policies on employment, automation, competition, e.g.) that may emerge, or are already prevalent, with likely consequences of impeding your career progress. It's designed for businessfolks, but it can be used in a personal setting with a litle bit of tweaking on your part.Naturally, some of your earlier inputs can be dovetailed into the grid for further analysis.
