Jobs In Ny That Hire 17 Year Olds

What are the highest paying jobs for 16 year olds?

I don’t want to burst your bubble, as I can see what a hardworking person you are, but you won’t make $30K in a year with a part-time job at 16 years old. So you’ll have to approach this a bit differently.First, you obviously want a new car. You’ll need someone to secure the loan, someone with a steady income who will guarantee that the car payments will be made. Ask your parents. And then you’ll need the down payment plus license fees and taxes. This amount will vary depending on the credit of your parents and the price of the car. You might need $3k-$5k to put down, which you’ll be able to save in a year doing any minimum wage job. Here’s what we did for our daughter: we leased a new car for her. The down payment was only $1500, and the monthly payments are around $250 (it’s a Honda Civic). She makes the payments. We signed a three-year lease, which will be up when she’s 20. At that point, she’s on her own - she can buy the car or turn it in and get something else. She’s already planning on buying it (she has 1 year left on the lease), and the amount owed will be around $8k. She already has this amount saved from her part-time job.The truth is that no one is going to pay you more than minimum wage because you don’t have any experience. But that’s okay - we all have to start somewhere. Find a job that will work around your school schedule - try local restaurants, pet stores, retail stores, apply everywhere. It’s not easy to get a job, so don’t be picky. Keep the end goal in mind, learn as much as you can, and maybe you can get a raise. :)Good luck! I admire what you’re doing!

Which stores hire at 14 years old?

Kohl's requires you to be 17 years old to apply.

State laws may prevent you from applying to most of those places you listed and most of them do hire at at least 16.

Here's a site for the state of NY on minors and jobs:
http://www.labor.state.ny.us/workerprote...

"Minors 14 and 15 years old may work after school hours and during vacations, but not in factory work. They may do delivery and clerical work in any enclosed office of a factory, and in dry cleaning, tailor, shoe repair, and similar service stores."

Good luck!

Does McDonald's hire 15-year-olds?

No. McDonald’s company policy is not to hire anyone under the age of 16. The key thing here is that some franchise locations DO, ignorant to the regulations. Being employed at one of those locations is a risk for both yourself and the franchisee, as you have less rights than older employees, and could be dismissed without a second thought. Perhaps not the answer you wanted, but that's the harsh reality. Hang in there for a few months!!!

Can a 15 year old work at McDonalds? If so, what sort of jobs would they be expected to perform?

You will likely either take orders at the window, or be in charge of cleanup to start with. Most stores, don’t have set ‘positions’ as it were. You’ll be hired on as a “crew member”. Which basically means, you do whatever position needs done. The key thing for you is… take it seriously, and get to know you co-workers.I know it sounds odd, but the biggest mistake people make is they don’t take the job seriously. Too often people go in, do as little as possible, and then move on.Here’s the problem. All those other people there, are doing the same thing. You don’t know who your next boss will be. I’ve known people that got rejected from really nice jobs, because they worked at some crappy store, and treated their job like crap, and one of the people they worked with moved on to be a manager at a nice company. Then they go and apply for a job, and the guy interview you says “oh I know you. You worked at that McDonald’s 10 years ago, didn’t you?” and that was the end of the interview. But that manager remembered this guy was a loser at that store, and barely worked, showed up late, and left early.Don’t be that guy. That guy you work with, could be the best key for you to get a good job later. He may also be the brick that smashes a good job later. Be a good employee… work, and make friends with your co-workers.I actually had a lady I worked with years ago offer me a job as a manager, because she knew me from over 10 years before, when I worked at Wendy’s with her. I didn’t take the job, but that’s an example of how early teen jobs, can have a long term effect.Take it seriously. One thing, learn to talk AND work. The problem isn’t talking generally. The problem is, people stop working when they talk. Keep your hands moving. You’ll be fine. And one side note.If figured out that if I had saved all the money that I earned while I was in high school, and invested it… I would have over $300,000 dollars today. Actually that was some years ago I would have had $300K. It would be more than that today.Save your money wisely. Your buddies in school will try and convince you to blow your money on all kinds of crap, and the money will be spent and gone.Don’t follow your buddies. Save and invest for the future.

Do tattoo shops hire 15 year olds?

Wow I love that you're trying to get a unique job :)

There is a 15 year old girl working at the tattoo shop nearby me. This might be a family business though, so I'm not sure if she's an exception. There is no harm in asking! Go and visit some shops, ask around. They tend to be laid-back places with chill people so I doubt anyone's going to think you're weird for asking to work there.

Where can a 15-16 year old find work in NYC?

Melissa Hoy is correct about needing a work permit for many a job, and it's not a bad thing to get, just in case.  I started working at 9, selling things door to door.  Yes, it was a different time and few people would probably do that now.  I sold flower seeds, and then greeting cards door to door.  I became a paperboy from 12-16, worked in fast food, and did odd jobs.  Nowadays, the world is very different, and what worked for me may or may not work for you.  I suggest you look into online ways to make money, nothing scammy or weird, just straight up normal things.  You can design shirts and sell them online with little to no money spent to do it.  You can dumpster dive and sell things on eBay or Amazon or other websites like craigslist to make some extra cash.  You can find old furniture, fix the stuff up, reupholster chairs, sand down and finish shelves or dressers, or whatever, with very little money spent.  Many time the only thing you need to make money is time, and when I was 15-16 all I had was time and loads of energy.  Had I grown up in the internet age I think I would have been a millionaire by the time I was 18.  There are websites that offer ways to make $5, https://www.fiverr.com/, where you can offer your services to people.  You can check the craigslist gigs section and see if any of the jobs there fit your abilities.  Stay away from any and all jobs, especially on craigslist, that mention modeling, or being in front of a camera, they are usually adult in nature and you do not want to go that route.  Working on small films is a good way for some to make money, pay is low but the more experience you get the more valuable your services are.  There are so many ways to make money in this world, the most valuable thing you have is the motivation and time.  Go for it!

Will Wendy's hire a fifteen year old?

I've gotten all sorts of responses to this one...bonus if you speak from experience.
The one in my neighborhood is hiring and I was wondering if it was even worth the trip.
I live in Oregon where it's legal for me to work part-time but I know some companies have a policy against hiring under-sixteens.

P.S. If you don't know about Wendy's, do you know of any fast food places that do, for sure? I really need a job.
