Joining the Navy without GED?

Is it possible to join the Navy without a GED? Is there a program inside that helps you get it while training? I have been to the site and for some careers it is necessary and for the one i want i need to have GED or higher plus to talk with a recruiter online you need to put high school information which i don't have.

Please if you're thinking of making a smart remark, don't. The only reason i am asking here is because Navy recruiters are far from where i live and i couldn't do it online so please no smart answers.

Can i join military without GED?????

No. All 5 branches of the military have been consistently been making and exceeding their recruiting numbers for several years now, so you'll need a GED at minimum. The best jobs are usually restricted to those with college or a high school diploma, so you'll be pretty restricted in what you can do with a GED.

The army will be your best bet; you may want to start speaking to a recruiter now and start studying for the ASVAB, but make sure you get to work on wrapping up the GED.

Can I join the Navy with a GED?

First, on paper, you are allowed to join the Navy with just a GED; but like couple of answerers have mentioned it already, you will need get a high ASVAB score to even be considered.

"Education:
Generally speaking, you must be a high school graduate, have earned a GED or have met other high school equivalency requirements to enlist in the Navy. For specific qualifying circumstances, contact a recruiter."

Second, you will need to have a high enough ASVAB score (and Line Score) to be eligible for the NSW/NSO Challenge Contract. You could have an outstanding PST score, but without meeting the Line Score for the job (especially, MC portion for EOD), then you will not be awarded the NSW/NSO Contract.

You will have to get the student loan or grant on your own and you will have to pay them back on your own.

Personally, I do not think that ASVAB is all that difficult; however, some people may find it to be hard, especially, the people that did not pay much attention in school.

What’s the best way to join the military without an H.D. or GED?

Talk to the recruiters. Answering these kind of questions is what their job is supposed to be.Their first answer will probably be “no” though. If you want it bad enough, keep pressing. There are programs for getting your GED in the military as a precursor to boot camp, but they're very limited. I personally have a hard time guessing the conditions that would find someone with the drive and ambition necessary to get into one without having already used that motivation to get their GED some other way. But that may just be privilege talking. There were a number of guys in my Navy boot camp company in 1997 that were in through some kind of ‘English as a second language' program. But with the low numbers the services are looking for currently, you are going to have to really impress the recruiters so that they go the extra mile to research what's out there.BTW, this is not actually a contradiction to those answers flat saying you can't. Its true you cannot be in the modern professional US military without at least a GED. Any special program would be technically helping you get it before you enlist.

Can i join the Navy's SWCC with a GED?

no., In fact you cannot enlist at all with just a GED. you need a HSD or a GED with 15 100 level college credits.
