Joint Major Bba And Information Tech

Should I major in accounting and information technology?

The question is what major would give you the skills that you couldn’t easily learn by yourself. Accounting is essentially a set of relatively static rules and processes that need to be applied uniformly without a massive degree of creative thought and requires a high degree of mathematical proficiency and understanding - its a profession. IT is a set of constantly changing skills and constructs that require creativity and above all an interest in the subject to do well (because IT changes so often you cannot master it - only keep up :)) - its a vocation. The most important point here is that I know a lot of people from an accountancy background working in IT (because they love IT and are passionate about it) but I know literally no-one from an IT background working in accounting.Accounting will give you a set of long lived, in-demand, transferrable skills and if you want to apply these to IT you will have a sought after background (I love teaching IT people from a mathematical background - it makes things a lot easier). The other thing to consider is that the majority of what you learn about IT in university will be out of date by the time you graduate.Short answer - major in accounting, it gives you more options, better employability and a fall back position if IT proves not to be for you.

Can you get two bachelor degrees at the same time?

Getting two bachelor's degrees is different than getting a double major. It can be done and people do it all the time. I have a BA and a B.Sc.

The courseload is the same - max load is going to be 18 hours or so whether you're doing one bachelor's or two. It will not be 4 years - more like 5-6 years.

The only requirements will be that you complete all of the requirements of both degrees and that your second degree have 30-40 hours not used in the first.

There is no reason you couldn't do a BBA and still meet all of the science requirements for med school admission. It just might take a touch longer than doing just the BBA.
