What do you do when you're a junior in college and realize you hate your major and career choice?

Time to get yourself to the career placement services.  Now.  They should be able to help you determine what type of work is aligned with your preferences.  You can also do some of this yourself by looking into two different books that I often recommend:1. Solving the Ice Cream Dilemma: Solving The Ice-Cream Dilemma: Steven Rudolph: 9789380942650: Amazon.com: Books2. What Color is your Parachute? What Color Is Your Parachute? 2015: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers: Richard N. Bolles: 9781607745556: Amazon.com: BooksThese books will help you determine what careers would fit you well.

Is it bad if I'm nearing my third year of college and still unsure of my major?

No, it is not bad, because you went to college in the first place and figuring out your choice of majors late is better than not going to college at all. General education beats no education. Many students change majors by 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year, or even later down the road. Many students still go back to college after getting their first degree and regretting a first choice of majors or even going back to college later in life. It’s natural to be a little undecided in the early days of education. I myself changed majors when I had nearly graduated with a degree in accounting. I then realized that I had no interest in working as an accountant (even though I hold nothing against accountants). So, I changed to math and was content with my decision.I would, however, encourage you to narrow down your choices at this time. The sooner you narrow down your options and pick a major, the more settled you’ll feel and the earlier you’ll eventually get your specialized degree. I’d recommend you sit in on different lectures and read different books. It sounds like you have already completed some general education. I strongly advise you to pick a best option based on your skills and academic strengths. The longer you hold off on making this decision, the more you’ll doubt yourself and the further behind you could potentially fall. One way or another, however, getting a degree in 6 years (as an example) is more worthwhile than dropping out because you remain undecided.

I'm confused about what college is best for my undecided major help?

DO NOT PANIC!!!
You are only a sophomore in high school.I didn't know what i wanted to do til the end of my junior year and I still change my major the middle of my sophomore year at college. And I will still graduate on time.
What really helped me figure out my major was taking more unique electives in high school. At first I was taking the typical electives with cooking. Then i decide to take a CAD(computer-aid desgin) and loved it and ended up majoring in Architecture and I still changed my major in college.

Basically don't fret to much over your college major just yet. But if you still don't know what you want to major in after your graduate from college I would recommend going to a larger public university that offers a wider variety of majors

But for now just keep taking electives and see what you enjoy the most

and I figured out that those online career altitude test aren't really helpful.

How do I schedule college classes if I am unsure of my prospective major?

Do the required math/physics if there is any. And if you don't like both then tread into the waters of CS.

What should I do if I feel unsure about my major/potential future career, and see myself doing many different things?

First of all, being junior in college doesn't mean that this is it. I know more than few people who understood that they aren't OK with their choice of studies and quit after a year or two to find something they are more interested in. In your comment you mention pressure from the parents to graduate, but ultimately it should be your choice. Make them understand that it is your career, not theirs and that you won't achieve much if you career makes you unhappy. So, the real question is how do you feel about your major vs other things you like to do. If you feel interested  in the Environmental studies so far - go for it, if not - think about changing your major. And choosing one thing as a major profession doesn't mean that your other interests can't become a hobby. You can write blog or even book just for fun. Also, don't forget that career doesn't have to be for life. There are quite successful people who change their line of work every so often.

When applying to college, should you put the major you are interested in, but unsure of, or should you put undecided?

Colleges like MIT, Harvard, and most of the elite private colleges merely ask that question for “statistics”. Freshmen at those colleges do Not have a major. At MIT I chose my major before the start of sophomore year. However, when I applied I indicated I was interested in Physics and was placed in a Physics freshman advisee group with a full Physics professor and a Physics grad student. However, I changed my mind and majored in Aer-Astro.So, That is the type of college you want to attend: A college that has no majors for freshmen and you select your major prior to sophomore year and can easily change yoiur major at the beginning of junior year with zero paperwork. However, “97%” of applicants Must select a major during their application to almost all Public universities and many private universities. My sons (U Del and Villanova) had to Apply to the Mechanical Engineering department and the School of Business, respectively. And they were admitted for their Major and would have had to petition to change majors.Indeed, at UDel, the toughest engineering major is Chemical Engineering (can you spell DuPont??) and very few students are allowed to switch into that department if they were not admitted to that department as a freshman. Similar with the business school at Villanova. Therefore, you really Should indicate a major and make a commitment. Otherwise you may be admitted as Undecided, But will not be allowed to enter any major of real interest to you later on. For example, computer science at the UC campuses is Highly Oversubscribed and it is very difficult to choose CS as a major after starting undecided. However, if your major will be philosophy or psychology or public relations for example, then you can list Undecided and decide while a freshman. But if you want a Real Major, then you must chose Now, or attend a Great college that gives you time and support in choosing a major….

Should I major in accounting even if I'm not sure I like it or if it's right?

I majored in accounting (and finance and business economics). I got an A in finance and econ, a B- in accounting. It was boring and hard compared to finance and econ. That being said, I am so happy I studied so much accounting in school. Accounting is HARD (it gets easier). You won't want to do it ever, but especially after graduating. It is, however, a crazy good skill to know. It's a different math system, and once you understand the system it becomes much easier and more useful.I worked in accounting for 3 years and caught on pretty quickly to the work. My co-worker only majored in finance and he's stuck. He is 5 years into work and he's still struggling to learn accounting. On your "What's my major/passion/life ambition?" question:I think studying accounting is a great "I don't know what else to do" option. Employers know that a good accounting student can learn damn near anything in business. You can work in the field for a few years, make good money, then do something else (or keep going).IF you know something you're passionate about, I say go for it. Heck, you may not even need a degree to pursue it! I loved swim team in college and hope to coach someday. I've read dozens of books on the sport and done some side-job coaching in the past. Whenever I was in accounting class earning my B-, I was probably thinking about swim team management.Definitely consider everyone's answers here.

Should I sit out a semester of college?

In high school I didnt care about school.
Then I go to this community college and I suddenly start doing well in school and actually learning.
My freshman year I did awesome. Sophomore year I started slacking. And now my Junior year, I transfered to a university and I am suffering in school.

I dont know what I want to be (career-wise). And I just lost that will to do well in school.

Now Im late in early registration for the spring semester and may not get the classes I need.
And the worst part of all is today I get a letter in the mail saying Ive been put on Probation.

I dont know what to do!!!!!!! what do you suggest??????!!!!!?????
Do I sit out, go on through it, or what??
