What was your favorite present you've ever gotten?

My husband stayed up late the night before Valentine’s Day a few years after we were married, to pick out my favorite cereal pieces from the box and make me a bowl just of those. He was on to something - this was the clusters from Honey Bunches of Oats, and about twenty years later, they started selling them (“just clusters”? or something like that).Just a few years ago, I got another awesome present from a student. She had heard me tell stories about how I admired my husband, when he was my boyfriend, and that he was so “cool” when I met him because he had a pocket-sized laminated periodic table. So she hand-made me my own pocket-sized laminated periodic table with the inscription, “Now you are just as cool as Mr. Gordon”…these two presents cost almost nothing, but showed incredible care, kindness, and attention to what I might like.

What challenges are there to being a personal trainer?

I am not a personal trainer, but observing trainers at the various gyms I attended, I would say the two biggest challenges are sales and client retention.Personal trainers work hard to market their services and it does not seem easy to find clients. I always see the same faces in the gyms that I go to and almost all of these people have been approached by a trainer or two who offered their services. What do the trainers do once all potential clients have been approached? Where do they get new clients? I just do not see new sign ups as often as could make some of these trainers busy. The second challenge that I see is client retention. Again, based on my own observation only, once their clients learn the exercises and get through the initial push that might be needed to start exercising and maybe overcome the so-called "gymtimidation", they are having a hard time keeping their clients. Personal training sessions are not cheap for an average person, so unless a client is wealthy and needs constant motivation,  they seem to leave. I see some trainers try to overcome this second challenge by always introducing new and new exercises and/or showing clients more complex ones.

How often do you eat fruit?

EDIT on 12/22/15: The videos in the link at the bottom pasted as screenshots... I wish somebody had told me! Click below to watch the videos:Nigel Shake's answer to How healthy (or not) is it to eat a giant bowl of fruit in the morning for breakfast? *******************************************************************************As often as you want.  Half your diet at the bare minimum should be vegetables and fruits, ideally more vegetables than fruits, but if you don't like many vegetables, it is still better to eat fruits to make up that proportion.  And another quarter at least should be beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, and whole grains (not grain products).  The rest can be animal products.Don't listen to people who tell you too much fruit is bad because of all the sugar.  Sure, if your diet consists mainly of cookies, cakes, snacks, junk food, and sugary drinks, then eating a load of fruit on top of that is perhaps not the best thing to do (but it is still better to have fruit on top of that diet than to not have any).  Replace most of the trash in your diet with fruits! If you are not a fruit eater, start with eating 3 fruit servings a day, either one with each meal, or one each between meals as a snack.  Slowly increase that to 5-6 servings a day.  Eat a variety of fruits!  And don't remove edible peels, as a significant proportion of fiber, vitamins, and minerals in many fruits and vegetables is found in the peel or just under the peel. For the question of "too much sugar", see my answer here and watch the videos I have posted:Nigel Shake's answer to If a high sugar diet is bad for you, then how can it be healthy to eat a lot of fruit everyday?
