Just Got My Wisdom Teeth Cut Out Now I Have A Pretty Good Size Knot On The Left Side Of My Jaw.

How can wisdom teeth cause swollen lymph nodes?

Swollen lymphnodes indicate the presence of an infection, they are usually tender, except in some infections they may be stony hard(tuberculosis),in malignancies they are often non tender.Certain tumors also spread(metastasize) via the lymphatics and hence lymph nodes may be swollen or enlarged.Tumors which arise in itself from lymphoid tissue can cause the same.Dental infections very commonly cause lymph node enlargement where the neck meets the jaw, called the submandibular lymph nodes, anterior teeth and tongue infections may cause enlargement of the submental lymph nodes.See below for a good idea of lymphnodes commonly involved in dental infections and malignancies.Image form Google search.

Jaw Pain, Two months after wisdom teeth removed?

I have been experiencing pain in my jaw back where a wisdom tooth was removed in mid December. It hurts to chew but is just a dull pain otherwise. The reason for my concern is it hurts when my cheek is touched in the same area. I was wondering what kind of problem that signified, because I can feel swelling but can't tell if its my cheek or if my jaw is messed up. Help even on what to suggest I look into would be great.

How will removing the wisdom teeth affect ones jaw line/structure and overall looks?

i just had my left upper wisdom tooth removed 4 months ago. The tooth had erupted in angle out towards my cheek 1 year ago. As it grew, it started to grazed my cheek, push other teeth slightly and my left cheek looked slightly swollen than the right.Eventually i started to have cavities in that tooth —as it grew in an angle it was very difficult to clean and food got trapped smelly breath etc… So i got it removed eventually. The procedure was very brief about 1 minute because it has grown fully out and not impacted. After 1 and 1/2 month i started to notice that the left side of my face is slightly flatter than the right side (used to be more swollen) and i started to have dimple as well on the same side! I lost the bony part quite significantly on the extraction site in terms of the height (bigger hole as a result the angling??)Aesthetically nobody really noticed it, but i must say i regretted taking it out. I lost the fullness of my face and the skin over the area looks sagggy as well. i felt there was slight lost of youthfulness and my face looks flat…. perhaps due to loss of bony area around that part make my face appeared sunken in.if i can reverse time i would not have it removed or even if i did i will insist for bone grafting. My friend who is a maxillofacial surgeon insist it wont change your face! (as you can see from the many answers here by dentists). I think the jawline wont change but if you have quite bone loss/resorption there your face may change a bit. My friend said there will be bone regeneration there to resculp your gum and this process may take as long as 1 year. so i still holding on this hope that it will make my face appear more full again…

Post wisdom teeth removal.. trismus..?

Im going to break this down into parts:

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, the procedure was to last 45 mins it ended up lasting 90 mins. The oral surgeon said he hadn't dealt with as difficult teeth as mine for about 15 years. (they were very big and the holes are very deep).

Recovery sucked but went well i was perfectly fine within a week or so

I went back due to pains and a minor bump on my right side i had a dry socket on my left and what seemed to be a small secondary infection on my right side. antibiotics and packing were given

I went back 3 days later because my left side swelled up majorly, the michellyn man had nothing on me. Though my right side was perfectly fine now. at that time my jaw wasn't opening past a finger either. He put a hole in my mouth to drain it all out and i continued the antibiotics

went back for a check up and for the jaw thing. Swellings better, new antibiotics given. for my trismus i was instructed to use a 5 stack of tongue depressors taped high on one side and just a bit on the other, and was told to put it in and twist it vertically hold it in for 30 mins a day or so. the pain is mind numbing when i do this i cant even begin to explain it.

So I follow directions Im assuming the rapid stretching is to break the adhesions and drain the infection area more. 3 sessions later (i have 1 hour of more freedom of jaw movement per session.) it goes back to normal... 1 finger. I was told by 4 sessions there should be some decent improvement

my question is general really I REALLY dont want them to have to "rip" my jaw open surgically. And im just interested in any input anyone has on the matter of trismus induced by the 3rd molar removal... Basically.. what should i do? what has worked for others? What have you experienced/seen?

Thanks in advance for reading and answering this.

How long will swelling last after a wisdom teeth removal? What are some tips to reduce the swelling?

Swelling occurs as the body’s way to protect and splint the area of injury, in this case oral surgery. To reduce swelling, you need to first control the bleeding and then treat the body for swelling.Bite on the gauze pack for one hour with steady pressure. This controls the bleeding. Don't over treat the bleeding issue. This will cause more bleeding and more swelling. There is normally a small amount of blood in the saliva the first day. This will turn brown towards the end of the day. There is a difference between diluted blood in the saliva and abject bleeding with bright red clotting blood flowing into the mouth. Call the dentist if that occurs. When you remove the gauze, open, close and work the jaw around a few times to get the muscles working. Do this on a regular basis throughout the healing phase. If you keep your jaws together for three days, you won't be able to open your mouth. You will have a increase in swelling and muscle trismus that adds to your pain level. Don't worry about disrupting the sutures. The tissue is sutured in a passive position and should not cause a problem with movement.Do not rinse the first day but start the next day rinsing every four hours and after meals. Drink fluids and don't use a soda straw or smoke. These things cause bleeding.A soft diet is needed the first day, not a liquid diet. The second day start a normal diet. Chewing will keep the muscles in good shape, improve circulation and help to reduce swelling. The improved circulation will bring nutrients to the area to promote healing.Remain sitting or standing as much as possible the first day, keeping the head elevated. Keep the head elevated at night the first few days. Keeping the head elevated will greatly reduce the swelling. It was very easy to see who followed these instructions and who didn't at the suture removal appointment. Sometimes, those that didn't needed to be reappointed for suture removal because there was still swelling and insufficient access to reach the sutures.

What should i do if stitches come out 3 days after wisdom tooth removal?

Salam

suturing is to make the socket edges closer to eachother, this will help to fasten the healing by primary intention, but if the edges are far, it does not mean it will not heal ! , it will , but needs more time to close the socket.

just be careful not to remove the flap,or open it,

if you have no pain, and you do not see any bone, then do not worry.

keep your oral health good, good brushing and mouth washing ( salt water ) is enough .

do not try to explore the area, you may make a problem this way.

regarding your teeth ache, try to describe the pain, where ? when? the pain charecterstics ? sharp - dull , throbbing? radiating to where? continuos pain?intermittent? getting more or same or less? what makes it more? what you do to make it less?

good luck

Hard lump in cheek 8 days after wisdom teeth removal?

So I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed on tuesday, its now wednesday the next week. All my teeth were impacted in bone and my bottom 2 were laying horizontally so they had to cut out parts of my jaw bone. I was in a GREAT deal of pain for about 4-5 days after and I swelled up big but now it has all gone down and the pain is moderate and controlable with advil but I just have this hard almost bony lump in my cheek. I cannot feel it from the inside or see it but i can feel it on the outside under my skin, it hurts like a bruise when I touch it and its about the size of a marble but only on my left bottom side right next to my bottom jaw.

Should I be concerned about this and call the surgeon or is it normal? I dont want to bother them again because my parents called a couple of times last week because I was in so much pain.
