Just Had A Really Bad Nosebleed

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and getting really bad nose bleeds why?

Yes, nosebleeds do tend to occur more often during pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts more pressure on those delicate vessels, causing them to rupture more easily. Although it's unpleasant and inconvenient, an occasional minor nosebleed is generally harmless.

You're especially likely to get a nosebleed when you have a cold, sinus infection, or allergies, or when the membranes inside your nose dry out, as they do in cold weather, air-conditioned rooms, airline cabins, and other dry environments. Trauma and certain medical conditions, such as high blood pressure or a clotting disorder, may cause nosebleeds as well.

Im 18 weeks pregnant and had a stuffy nose and a couple of nosebleeds since 12 weeks.... uncomfortable but perfectly normal hun xx

How can i stop nose bleeds?

what should i do to stop them?
(i've already taken an allergy pill and used saline)

I had a really bad nosebleed, lost about 2 pints of blood maybe?

I doubt that you lost 1 to 2 pints of blood, because you would be unconcious. However, it does sound like you may have lost a considerable amount, due to the feeling "woozy". I suggest you seek medical attention at once.

Really bad nose bleed .. will I be ok?

honey u r gonna be ok ur not dying

A nosebleed can be scary to get--or see--but try to stay calm. Most nosebleeds look much worse than they really are. Almost all nosebleeds can be treated at home.

If you get a nosebleed, sit down and lean slightly forward. Keeping your head above your heart will make your nose bleed less. Lean forward so the blood will drain out of your nose instead of down the back of your throat. If you lean back, you may swallow the blood. This can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Use your thumb and index finger to squeeze together the soft portion of your nose. This area is located between the end of your nose and the hard, bony ridge that forms the bridge of your nose. Keep holding your nose until the bleeding stops. Don't let go for at least 5 minutes. If it's still bleeding, hold it again for 10 minutes straight.

I just had a nose bleed and now I am spitting up blood, is this normal?

The blood you are spitting up is just residual blood that drained down your throat through your nasal passages.

I have the same problem. The best thing to do is to get a humidifier. During the winter months, the air inside of your home can become rather dry because of the furnace running all the time heating the air, and drying it out. A good humidifier will do wonders to keeping your nasal lining moist.

If you seem to get nosebleeds often, you actually should see your family doctor. Nose bleeds are one symptom of High Blood Pressure. So, it would be a good idea to have it checked.

You can also purchase nasal sprays in just about every drugstore or supermarket. They contain no actual medication, they are usually just made up of Saline Solution (salt water) You can spray a few squirts into each nostril to keep things from becoming too dry in there.

I wish you well in finding a method of stopping your Nosebleeds, I hope I was able to help you out!

I have had a nosebleed 5 times in the past week. Can this be serious?

More information is necessary for this.Do you pick your nose? I knew someone who got constant nosebleess because they would pick, even after it bled, thinking it would be fine, only to have it bleed again. If you do, stop.Do you take blood thinners? This can cause iritation or pressure on the nostrils to result in bleeding. If not either of these, worry about dehydration, and see your physician.Advice from someone who had them daily for a bitIf you recently had a nose bleed,DO NOT  touch that nostril. Dont rub it. Dont pick it. Dont blow your nose forcefully.Dont rub your nose on anything thinking that this wont cause it to bleed, rubbing with a pillow is just as bad as with your hand. You should be familiar with the feeling of having one, similar to the feeling one gets when about to vomit, I can perfectly tell when my nose will bleed if I just did anything to irritate it. What you can do if it bleedsHold below the bridge of your noseAfter the bleeding stops, lightly blow your nose the blood doesnt harden in painful places and tempt you to rub, etc. What I used to do, because I was sick of holding my nose, was take tissue/toilet paper, roll it in one direction, then fold if needed and insert into the nostril to prevent it from getting all over the face. Soon it will end, and you could just pull it out. When the bleeding stops, to prevent/get rid of caked blood, put water on your index finger and softly move it over the bottom of the nostril, then take a tissue and lightly wipe the blood.Make sure any bloody paper is disposed of safely, i rap it in other paper, and clean any surface that got blood on it.Hope this helped

Why did people say to hold your head back if you had a nosebleed if it’s bad?

It’s because they didn’t have the education on nose bleeds to tell you the correct thing.I’ve had nose bleeds since I was about 8 and continue to get them now I’m 23. I used to get them up to 10 times a day if they were really bad and all the adults in my life had their own way of “fixing” the problem. Some told me to tilt my head back, other told me to do thing like pinching the bridge of my nose or to squeeze my nostrils shut. None of them really stopped it very well. The bad thing about tilting your head back is that it will just run down your throat and will go into your stomach and/or lungs which obviously isn’t ideal.Through the years I’ve come up with a fix that personally works for me and I get them maybe once every 2 weeks or so but this was only after I had the veins in my nose cauterized twice. My technique is the get a paper towel or some Kleenex and just stick it in my nostril. I leave it there for about 10 minutes until it forms a clog. After that I blow my nose, which for some people could start it belong again but luckily most of the time it doesn’t for me. This ends my nose bleed without much mess, loss of blood or any bad effects.

What is the worst nose bleed you have ever had?

I’m answering on my Dad’s behalf for this story. One day, before picking me up from school, my Dad went to the deli to get himself a sandwich (I am unsure of what type). This happened during the earlier months of the year, my guess being February. So, one could imagine that runny noses and the like had been plaguing my father that winter. So, he gets home, eats some of his sandwich, and naturally, he feels inclined to wipe his nose, being the civilized guy I know. The nice people working at the deli decided to include some napkins with his sandwich, stapled to the side of the paper bag containing his lunch. The thing is, my Dad didn’t notice, as he ripped the napkins off, that the staple was still imbedded in the napkins. My Dad, going in for a nice nose pick, catches the pointy end of the staple, still imbedded in the napkin, on the inside of his nose.I can only imagine what the aftermath of that was.

Is it normal to spit up blood after a nosebleed?

The reason you spit up blood is because you ingested some blood when you lay down. When you have a nosebleed you should not lay down or tip your head back. Place firm pressure on the nose and lean forward. The reason for this is so that the blood can run out your nose and mouth, and not down your throat. You do not want the blood running down your throat because when you breathe you may breathe blood into your lungs and get pneumonia. It is normal to spit up some blood after a nose bleed, but keep an eye on it, if it is a lot and keeps happening you may have a bleed that is not stopping that needs to be taken care of. Cancer is unlikely, and most definitely is not causing the blood in your spit. Again, if you have lots of blood or it continues for more than a couple of hours go to a doctor and get it checked out, it could be more serious than a simple nose bleed.
