Just Had Milk In My Cereal That Smelt And Tasted Fine Yet There Were Very Small Chunks At The

How did you start your child out on eating finger foods?

Try Fruit Puffs- they dissolve in the baby's mouth... our son loved the Banana Puffs... he hated almost any other kinds. But at first I'd even break those in half. Then to cheerios... my son never choked on those. My son also loves cinnamon graham crackers. Just make sure the foods you let her try are small like a pea to start out with. I had to give my son baby food - and still do now- and he's 16 months... but he does sooo much better now with regular foods. But because he doesn't like textures of regular bananas yet, I give him the baby food instead. Now that he just got his molars in, he chews his food up really well. She's still young, so try those puffs for a while... then move to cheerios. Her formula or breast milk will provide the main nutrients she needs for now.

Good luck, I was worried about this stage as well... my son just didn't really like textured regular foods at all, but he will eat more and more now that he's a little older... he loves trying my food... so in a few months, if you make something, try to make things like mashed potatoes (you can even try small bites of that now)... but things like that she can eat, and she might love trying different foods you eat :)

I have to add-sorry- but if your daughter does choke- the food is usually very easy to grab- you take your pointer finger like a hook, and grab the food out of the mouth. I've done this a couple of times with my son (more when he was a year old) not as much now that he has those molars.

How do I get my purely breastfed baby interested in baby food?

I completely breastfed till final week, whilst my son grew to become 6 months. i think of its ridiculous that they are publishing this now, whilst the learn hasn't even concluded, its like they want mothers to be at a loss for words. All i comprehend is my son has no longer starved, fairly the choice, he has thrived from the 2nd he grew to become into born on breastmilk on my own and that i does no longer have fed him solids till now if i grew to become into paid to. no longer even pondering the effects it could have on a sprint one's gentle digestive equipment, feeding stable ingredients too early can pose on the spot well being detrimental aspects, alongside with choking and constipation. long term detrimental aspects are doubtful, yet previous learn have shown that feeding solids before a sprint one is waiting might reason hypersensitive reactions, it fairly is shown, in comparison to this new assistance that has been printed (so some distance as i comprehend it fairly is speculative findings that have been printed, that relate to an ongoing overview.) That being suggested, no longer something magical happens the day a sprint one turns six months. babies mature at distinctive stages. some are waiting till now than others, yet that doesn't immediately mean that they want stable foodstuff, basically that they are able to digest it with out concern. maximum babies do no longer lose their tongue-thrust reflex till they are around 5 months besides, so why they are telling mothers to introduce solids before or around 4 months is baffling.

Giving cereal to an 8 week old?

I have 2 boys and they both had acid reflux. And we started giving them ceral in their milk when they were a week old. A 1/2 a scoop of the plain ceral (the scoop that comes in the formula can) and make sure that you, you cut they nipple just a little bit. And we started giving our babys baby food when they were a month old. in this thing called an infant feeder. It looks like a bottle and you put the baby food in it and the baby eats it like a bottle. And thats what we did with our boys. And know that are NOT FAT, like most of the people are probably think while I'm telling you this. As for the acid reflux don't change his formula get you Dr. to perscribe him baby Zantac. We had our family Dr. when I had my oldest little boy and this is what he told us to do. The ceral was b/c he was hungary at a week old he was getting up everyhour and eating 2-4 ounces every hour, so this is what me and my Husband and mother came up with the ceral at a week. And it does help them sleep better!!!! I knolw this from experience. But with my youngest we went to a ped, that all our friends recommened, cause that all went to her. So we just followed the crowd. Anyway she made me try all this different stuff cause he had acid reflux to and then she changed his for 3 times and then chaged it to a special formula that was almost $40.00 a can and it still diden't work. Finally I told her that I wanted what my oldest little boy had taken when he had acid reflux the Zantac, and she told me no that she didnt like giving meds to babies. Anyway I got mad at her for being a MORON!!! And she had told me that we had done everything wrong with our oldest child (pretty much). So I went back to my family Dr. and he checked out my baby boy and then perscribed the Zantac and he hasn't had a problem with acid reflux since. But, my just turned 3 year old is 3 1/2 ft tall and weighs 35 pounds and 16 month old my baby is almost 3 ft and weighs about 25 pounds. So my kids are NOT FAT, and these are the things that worked for me. I know alot of people are not going to agree with what I have told you and they are going to call me a MORON for telling what worked for me. But, this is just what worked for my boys. Hope this did not offend anyone. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

Why would rice cereal in a bottle create a risk of choking of it is fully desolved?

"Throughout most of human history and in most cultures, children were exclusively breast fed at least for the first year of life and often even longer than that. During the previous generation or two, when bottle feeding became very popular, solid foods were introduced at quite an early age. When babies were as young as a few weeks old, processed rice cereal was put into the bottle with formula. Most children were able to tolerate this rather well. A number of children did not tolerate this well, because their sucking and swallowing actions were not yet fully coordinated. As a result, many infants aspirated the rice cereal into their lungs which led to pulmonary problems....

It is interesting to note that children who begin solid foods with rice cereal in their bottles don't learn the instinct of stopping when they are full. This is because deceptively large amounts of calories come in without much increase in volume. As a result, kids that are fed rice cereal in a bottle tend to have excessive weight gain, both as infants and later in life. Other than that, children are very good at regulating their own intake. By starting with a spoon, resting between bites, and stopping when your child is full, you will be laying an excellent foundation for good eating habits throughout his life."

Why can't you use any spices when making baby's first solids?

There is absolutley no need to avoid spices and normal foods -- we feed our 6 month old a variety of different foods, no baby food or jars or purees, just what we are eating, and she is fine with it, never had any upset tummy from anything we've eaten (and there have been quite a few different spices in there).
Rice cereals are not needed, and you don't need to worry about introducing foods in a certain order, just see what he likes.

"once your baby is happily accepting solid foods, then he may welcome certain spices (think aromatic, rather than hot), herbs and garlic in his meals. The addition of these seasonings is a healthy way to add some extra flavour - and a sprinkle of herbs or a dash of spice can turn a plain and uninspiring dish into something exciting that your baby may really enjoy!"

"When the baby is starting to take solids at about six months of age, there is little difference what he starts with or the order foods are introduced. If the baby reaches for the potato on your plate, make sure it is not too hot, and let him have the potato. There is no need to go in any specific order, and there is no need for the baby to eat only one food for a certain period of time. Some exclusively breastfed babies dislike infant cereal when it is introduced at about six months of age. There is no need for concern and no need to persist if the baby doesn’t want the cereal. There is nothing magic or necessary about infant cereal. Offer your baby the foods that he is interested in. Allow the baby to enjoy food and do not worry exactly how much he actually takes at first. Much of it may end up in his hair and on the floor anyhow."

---EDIT --
No - never any choking, some gagging occasionally, but that's never an issue.
Say if we were eating potato's and brocolli, we would give her lumps of both, and she would gnaw on them.
Pasta and sause -- ditto.

What happens if you drink spoiled milk?

It is nice to see that about 20 people are going to answer and say the same thing "you may be sick". The answer they gave is bullocks.

Sour milk is perfectly fine. You have eaten sour cream with no ill effects. Sour milk is just a flavouring as much as sour cream is. Before pasteurization spoiled milk may have been a problem because the bacteria that is present in fresh milk is not always friendly. Now there is no problem, and as long as you have kept the milk separate from poo and eggs, cross contamination should not be a problem.

To tell you the truth you may have hit upon some culinary secret with the sour milk. Sour milk is used in a lot of Indian and Tibetan recipes. The milk adds a dimension of flavour that is reminiscent of citrus for people that have no access to the fruit.

Never worry, of it isn't blue or an olive green it is ok.

Whats that stuff in my oatmeal??!!!?

This morning I opened an individual packet of Quaker unsweetened instant oatmeal. I popped it in the microwave, added milk when it was done, and began to eat it when I noticed several dark "dots" in it. I have seen one or two in my oatmeal in the past and just assumed it was just part of the oatmeal husk that didn't get removed. However, today there were more of these "dots" than I have ever seen before. I started pushing them to the side of the bowl and as I did that, one smashed and it looked more like fecal material to me than anything else. I was so upset that I immediately turned to my computer and started searching for information when I came across this blog. I took a picture so that others could see what I was looking at. Naturally, I threw the oatmeal out but I am really concerned. Does this look like what others have seen?

Cat is starving himself?

There are better things than cream to feed your cat...

when my kitten was sick and not eating anything I fed her some baby food (the chicken or turkey kind) and a plain all natural yogurt (as directed by my vet) ( just a little amount... like the tip of a spoon)

when she stopped eating that the vet gave me a food called A/D (a very fatty food meant for sick animals) had me water it down a bit load it up in a syringe (with out the needle) and then I would squirt a little bit at a time in the back of her mouth... did that until she felt better and could eat normal.

to be safe I would have your vet check kitty out... have them take the temp, if it's high your cat is probably sick and needs additional attention (normal cat temp is 101, 102)

if no temp then you need to find out what the shelter was feeding her and get that.

my vet also suggested to microwave wet food... it makes it smell more and kitties love stinky. just make sure it's not too hot.

even if you kitty has not had a reaction to the cream or milk yet I would stop... sometimes issues don't show themselves for a while and I will bet your vet will tell you to stop.
