Kayaking With Sprained Finger

How long does a broken finger normally hurt?

Once I got very angry and decided to plant my fist firmly against a cabinet in the kitchen. It hurt a lot and got really swolen but i was still able to move it so i figured, for the record i was wrong, it was fine.I went on a trip to the belgian ardennes with my girlfriend a few weeks later. My hand was still kinda sore as if badly sprained but very manageble. During this holiday I did the following things :I drove to and at our destination without a problem.Helped set up the campsite and unpack the carBuilt a dam in the river with rocks, not small rocks but rocks the size of a big dog.Went kayaking and mountainbiking. My hand hurt a little but felt pretty good and better everyday. When I got home i noticed the outer knuckle on my “angry hand” looked very different compared to my left hand. It also still felt a little sore after almost 3 weeks after the incident with the kitchen cabinet.Went to the doctor and they took x-rays. Turned out i had broken my hand in my anger. It had started healing already and for some mystical reason it was healing properly despite all the things i did with it.What can you learn from this?Don’t punch solid objects, you can hurt yourselfGo see a doctor if you’re in pain! Maybe it’s not a fracture but better safe than sorry.

Is it possible to get a wedding ring sized for a cat paw toe?

Yes, more than likely. Is this idea absurd and potentially dangerous for the car? You heard of edema? Some people have had to have rings cut off because of this. This qualifies as a certainly ill-conceived idea borne of sheer stupidity. I am glad I'm not your cat. I would perish.

How can you convince your super protective parents to let you do fencing (the sport), since the foil, epee, and Sabre are considered weapons?

The worst injury I have gotten while I have done fencing (almost 10 years at a national level) was getting poked in the shin hard. I think I had a bruise for 3 weeks. My friends playing basketball at high level have broken one finger at least; my friends playing high level tennis have sprained or broken their ankle at least once; my friends playing high level football have gotten at least one concussion… the list goes on. I can’t say that for fencing with any major kind of injury aside from a bruise or scrape here or there.Fencing is actually one of the safest sports, partially due to there being weapons involved. Safety is the priority, and there have been so many innovations to ensure no one gets hurt. As long as you are fecning without the intention of hurting someone, and the opponent you have does the same (if they dont they will be black carded), you are very very safe.

What are the injuries you have had and how did you get them?
