Knowledge From The Tree Of Life. Explain In 50 Words Or Less

A "tree of life " explains?

The answer is "d".

Interesting that you posted on R & S. That's a question about Darwinian evolution. Or the YA auto-sorter directed in to R&S...even more interesting!

Edit: Don't be confused by the other answers. They are typical of this contentious section, as modern evolutionary ideas are still considered "debateable". Pay attention to your biology homework; the answer IS "D".

What was the “Tree of Knowledge” in the garden of Eden?

To understand the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, one needs think of it by its correct description. Otherwise, one is likely to equivocate it as a source of knowledge that Adam and Eve had lacked before eating from it.Since that one tree, and the tree of life, were each unique, we should not think of either of them as any kind of tree that we now have. To do so would water down the uniqueness of each. The knowledge of good and evil; that is, the prerogative to decide what is good, and what is evil, belongs to God because He created all things. This is what the tree of the knowledge of good and evil meant to God.Therefore, a human deciding that he knows better than God does, what is good, and what is evil, is a presumptuous act of theft against God. In this instance, “evil”, includes both ethical evil, (theft of God’s prerogative), and catastrophic evil, (the calamity of beginning to die, that same day). The ventriloquist who spoke through the serpent had a motive that we can observe from what he accomplished. The one thing on earth that God had uniquely created in His own image, (Genesis 1:26,27; 5:1,2; 9:6), was no longer behaving in God’s image. Instead, by thieving God of His knowledge of good and evil, it was behaving in the image of someone else, (the ventriloquist), who was the first to covet, and take, what did not belong to him.Once humans were behaving in his image, instead of God’s image, that ventriloquist, (Revelation 12:9), had exactly what he had desired. This is what the tree of the knowledge of good and evil meant to him.

What is the symbolism of "The Tree of Knowledge"?

The tree of knowledge symbolized the absolute knowledge of good and bad (or evil) that only God has and only can possess. Besides being our Creator, this is why he has the right to set standards and laws as our ruler. When God forbid Adam and Eve from eating from that one designated tree it served to test to see if they would show love and respect for him, his guidance and rulership. In time, if they proved obedient he would have deemed them worthy of everlasting life in perfection. Such an essence of life would make them more less likely susceptible to disobedience and sin.Unfortunately the first man and woman failed that simple test of their love and worthiness. The tree had no special properties but in their minds it was unlawful to eat from it because of divine law. So, when they ate from it they did not truly become like God, knowing absolutely all that is good and bad, but realized their exposure as sinners. They may have reasoned that if they ate from it they would know all that God knows and thus would not need to listen to God. Upon eating the forbidden fruit they became ashamed of their nakedness, both figurative and physical. No one can ever know all that God knows. Nor can anyone live totally independent from God.

Why did god make the tree of knowledge and put it in the garden of eden to tempt eve and adam in the 1st place?

It is unfortunate that some give a rather ugly answer to this question. Some may talk about free will, but God still knew what would happen. So, perhaps it was so people would know what would happen. I do think it may be a huge plan for God to show his great love for us. Right after Adam and Eve sinned, he also promised that the offspring of the woman would come and eventually crush the head of the serpent, but that the serpent would bruise the heel of the offspring. See Genesis 3:15, or do a search on the protoevangelium (also spelled protevangelium).
I also know that throughout scripture God's love is shown for us, especially through Christ. And it is clear that we are responsible for our sin. God did not make sinless robots. He did not program us to love him, because if he did that it would not be love but control. By giving us a choice to follow him, we can respond to his love for us.
Ultimately, there are some questions we can not fully answer in this life. In that we must rely on 1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
In other words, some things will only be known fully when we are in heaven with the Lord. Hope to see ya there.
God Bless!

Can you explain the theory of relativity in 5 words?

A load of unnecessary rubbish. At some point the masses will come to realise they have been fooled and accept we aren't leaving this planet. All the science from so called Einsteins will get us no ware. What we do know but the elite rulers want kept quiet is all life on earth is controlled by an energy force most likely exactly like the human brain ?? Thought and consciousness being the force. The term “ as above so below” stands true, absolutely .The Freemasons worship Lucifer and have great understanding of King Solomons Temple. Lucifer is basically the sun and early civilisations considered the Sun to be our Father . King Solomons temple via the Holy Bible has been know to reveal a few things regarding our existence here on earth but the people who run your word have not told you it is a map of the human brain. ??We as man have not been put here on earth to try and get out ? but this is the mentality of the son of man. What we are here for is to gain spiritual connection to the force we call God, the reward is eternal life, God is the spiritual bond, to or with, the force via the centre of our brains, our holy place?? The true Jerusalem ! The altermate goal of man is to become a son of God spiritually and sycholgically, being born again through the Holy spirit , which the entire Bible is all about, right from the garden of Eden (our holy place in our brains) not to eat the fruit (because you will die and be born again as a son of God, spiritually) to the end of the Bible in Revelations where he is wanting you to eat from the tree of life ??

What is the importance of the Tree of Knowledge in Genesis?

Its not the tree of Knowledge. Its the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Big difference. It is very important because God said not to eat of the tree. He didn’t explain himself. So in a garden full of good things, there is one tree one is not allowed to eat. Very Important Deal.So what does he do? Goes and eats of the tree. They gained knowledge of evil for the first time and lost the ability to remain free from it. By only knowing good, they were protected from evil. We don’t really understand that concept in the world we have created, which is full of evil.It is easy to see evil everywhere and live as if it is out to get us. Some rare individuals are able to see good everywhere and treat people with value, regardless of their behaviour. This often has a beneficial effect on the bad behaviour and turn people around. Unfortunately for the most part we live in fear of whatever is being reported on the news, whether a flu epidemic or a terrorist attack, local burglaries or car thieves. House locks and gates and securities and distancing us from each other and from neighbours. The bible says to overcome evil with good. We are still trying to overcome evil by locking it up, hide it away, avoid facing it, even running away ourselves. So the tree of knowledge of good and evil has had a dramatic effect on the world, which makes it very important.

Even though the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil has " Good" as part of its fruit, how is it that?

Well....the commandment that was initially given to Adam and Eve was to not eat of the of the "knowledge" of god and evil...for in the day you eat of it, the Lord said, you shall surely die.

The tree was not indicated to have actually HAD good or evil fruit...but more or less a fruit that contained the "Knowledge" thereof. It doesn't indicate directly that the fruit was either good or evil.

The result was death because the Lord said, if they were to eat of the fruit on that one tree...they would surely die.
That is why the result was death.
Now we can look more closely and observe that death was a result of the wage of that sin of disobedience adam and eve both committed. But the Lord never explained WHY they would die if they ate of it...just THAT they would die.

The only one who manipulated the words of God was Satan, where he afterward came in and deceived Eve to eat of it...but since satan is a deceiver....there is not much credibility for the reasons he gave...("o, for God knows you'll be like him, and he doesn't want you to eat of the tree....etc.") If God didn't say that HIMSELF, we can't say anything outside of what only He said...and he only told them not to eat of it, and the consequences thereof...but nothing more or less.

I personally don't believe there's anything wrong with a believer approaching the word of God as "good knowledge"...because actually, that's what the word of God is. As thoroughly and continually outlined in Proverbs; wisdom is knoweledge IS God. And the bible says, my people perish for a lack of knowledge.

So if we approach the word of God seeing it as knowledge to live by, we are doing what proverbs actualy instructs us to do. Our lives, as believers are supposed to be GOVERNED by that very knowledge that is ALSO our tree of life. Knowledge IS life...God's knowledge is life....they're one and the same.

God bless u sis...thanks for the q!!!

Love u!

Why would God put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the middle of the Garden of Eden, and then tell Adam to not eat of its fruit?

It only makes sense if you give up a 19th century literalist reading of the bible and see the story for what it is: a myth to explain how human beings came to share in divine attributes such as language (symbolism), reason, and creativity.Firstly, the state of bliss which Adam and Eve first enjoy in Eden isnot exeptional; in mythology it corresponds to the Golden Age of the Greeks, Romans and Hindus, and others - a primordial period of peace, innocence and virtue. Many traditions also feature a central tree, vine, pillar or other bridge or gateway between Heaven and Earth: the Buddhist banyan, the Jewish Kabbalah, the Norse Yggdrasil etc etc.Secondly, in Eden, there are not one but two central trees: the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The fruit of the latter tree represents moral consciousness, and, by extension, of choice and freedom. God forbids man to eat from the tree, warning him that if he does he will die. Many Greek myths such as Icarus, Oedipus and Prometheus contain similar warnings against defying the gods, which will lead to their nemesis, or downfall. But just as Prometheus delivered stolen fire to man, so eating the forbidden fruit delivers humankind into self-consciousness.No wonder God was concerned: tasting the fruit effectively set humans up as rivals to God: “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil.”Only his his short lifespan stood between God and his creations - “and now”, God mused, “he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” (Gen 3.22) Expulsion from Eden was the only solution. Thus the myth explains how self-consciousness came at a price: the separation from the unthinking natural world gave birth to human culture, but also delivered a life of toil, fear and doubt. The myths that make up the biblical story of creation should not be taken “literally” because they weren’t meant that way. To do so is to underestimate the power and truth of the myths it contains.

Can a well informed Christian please explain this passage to me?

'Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse.' Rev 22:1-3 NIV

This passage is about the complete sufficiency of Jesus' perfect sacrifice on the cross, denoted by the term 'the Lamb', as well as his complete authority as deity. The pure water signifies cleaning and holiness, and represents the holiness imputed to Christians by faith in Jesus. Note that the tree of life is on each side of the river, denoting the full availability of its fruit, which are produced at all times. In Ezekiel 47:12 we read:

'"Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."' NIV

John has combined this idea with the single tree of life in the paradise of Eden in Genesis 1. The number twelve signifies fullness and completion, and fruit refers to the fruits of the Spirit- love, kindness, patience, humility, self-control. The leaves, like balm leaves used as medicine, are for healing of broken spirits and lives. The removal of the curse refers back to the curse in Eden.

What is the tree of life?

The koine greeek word used in the bible for tree is actually "wood" of life. So as it is the case that in ancient times we used wood as a writing material, it is debatable as to whether this may refer to a 'plaque' of some sort on which all the names of the ones who are to inherit everlasting life are written. Some bibles refer to the tree of life as the 'book of life' also. It can also be a tree though and figuratively describe the annointed Christians who provide us with the 'life giving water'.
