Lamda And Rada Audition Advise

Any advise for drama school auditions?

Hello
They are all good drama schools.
My advice would be to be confident, but not conceited. Try and enjoy the audition...dress smart / but comfortable
Don't be put off if there are any fellow applicants who behave like they are the 'big I am'...just concentrate and believe in yourself.
and also be very prepared...as far as audition pieces are concerned.

GOOD LUCK.

DRAMA SCHOOL AUDITIONS?

Go in there with a confident attitude , but not to confident enough to say hey I think im pretty good but not so much as in u give off the hole " I'm gonna get the part because im the best thing ever" don't show that your nervous. ( no mattter how nervous u are)
pratice pratice your peice.have friends pick out acting habbits. ( nail picking, foot shaking , pronunciation)
if your nervous pronunciation can be a big issue even if you are really good at it normaly. what helps me is saying " The big black bear ate the big blue bug and the big blue bug bleed blood " say it a few times before they call u to do what ever u may be doing for your auditions ( Monologes, cold reads ect. )
Turn off all electronics u really don't want a phone call wishing u good luck in the middle of it. Keep enegry up but dont over act.
Pratice very slow because when ever u get on stage or pratice no matter how nervous u r it will always some how get sped up.

Good luck hope these tips helped,

How do I get into RADA?

For ages all I have wanted is to go to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts(RADA), but i have been told they hardly ever take on students straight out of sixth-form, but I've kind of based all my plans on this :/ I wanted to know if there is a way to make my chances of getting in as high as possible, or if there is another Drama university considered as good as RADA in london, thanks x

What monologues should I choose for drama school auditions?

Hey everyone,

I am looking to apply for drama school entry for September 2015.

The three I am applying to are:
RADA
LAMDA
Oxford School of Drama.

I need to prepare two Shakespeare monologues and one post 1960 piece from a play. They have to be a maximum length of two minutes and close to my age which is 17 (Male) and also in my accent which is just a typical British accent.

I am finding it difficult to find pieces but I do quite like Shakespeare's tragedies.

Many many thankyous!
Ben x

Are LAMDA exams worth doing?

LAMDA is a major acting school. If you have a chance to go there and you're a determined, commited and hard working actor, why not give it a try? However, if you still haven't got any experience, I recommend getting it. They accept actors that already have a strong interest in acting. A year isn't enough.
Getting in there is pretty competetive. A lot of people that come to auditions are 'wanna-bees' and usually give up after the first try. But the others can be experts.
Auditioning is the hardest and the most important part. You have several minutes to show what you have got. And if you fit in that 'eligible' section, congrats! Check their website for the detailed info.
Alternatives - RADA, Central School of Speech and Drama, Guildhall. Earning your degree (BA/MA) is worth every pound in these schools. A degree is a vital information for your future agents.
You'll learn everything (and more) than you need to know. And, if you fail, don't be upset. More importantly, don't give up. Auditioning process is fun. Hard, but fun.
Good luck.

What is the reason that many people who have gone to drama school (for example RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, CSSD) don't speak about their experience? Do they regret it or was it a bad experience?

I don’t know your experience with this, obviously - have you ASKED people and they refuse to talk about it? Do you just not see famous people who’ve gone to these schools talk about them in interviews? Do people you know who went to them now have a different career?Regardless, I went to drama school in New York and then did an eight-week intensive at RADA. An eight-week intensive is not the same as a full two- or four-year degree program, every program is different and may not be right for some people, but my four-year BFA and eight-week Certificate program were two of the best experiences of my life.I’m gonna go one step further and answer something unasked: If you’re interested in doing something artistic, like acting, I believe that going to school is hugely important. A well-rounded life and education can only help you. BUT it’s not for everyone. Some people thrive in non-conservatory settings where they go a few times a week to acting classes while holding down a job and auditioning - jumping into trying to get work without too much training. Also fine. The great and terrible thing about being an artist is that there’s no step-by-step way to get work or succeed. But in terms of conservatory training, it’s not only a fantastic way to get a broad range of experience and style, but it’s a concentrated way to work and gets you quickly connected to other actors who will go on to become your cheerleaders, bosses, and comrades later in life. I recommend it.

Which is the best university for studying drama or acting in the USA?

Hi Mobina! My first recommendation is NYU Tisch School of the Arts, either the BFA or MFA programs, depending on where you are in your training. My reason for preferring the Tisch acting programs is that their graduates receive excellent, well-rounded training and - very important - they get hired after they graduate. The alums from Tisch are a very impressive list (List of NYU Tisch School of the Arts people - Wikipedia). They are consistent in the quality for their performances and the regularity of their employment in the theatre/fim industries. If you are serious about becoming a professional actor and you want to go to school in the U.S., go to Tisch, if you can get in.Yale, USC, U North Carolina, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC San Diego, Boston Conservatory, and Carnegie Mellon (more for directing) are also excellent schools for studying acting. Yale is probably the best of these.I also suggest that you consider the UK acting schools - RADA, Guildhall, and Old Vic. Only TIsch and Yale in the U.S. can compare with them and there is no substitute for the training in speech and voice that you will receive at the British acting programs. If you have more questions about acting programs or want advice on the application and audition process, please feel free to email me at info@actorsbodymindinstitute.eu.Good luck!

How do I improve my chances of getting into RADA?

RADA is good but it's not the only school that will legitimately get you into the industry. Consider Drama Centre, Central, Bristol, LAMDA, and Guildhall also.Annoying answer: you need to unapologetically present an aspect of yourself through a role. Find some words you're burning to say

What is the Best Drama School in the UK?

It depends entirely on the person.
RADA and Central are famous but some of the others are amazing too, just unheard of.
Like GSA (Guildford School of Acting) Arts Ed, Laine, Rose Bruford, Mountview, London Studio Centre
Thats just some I can think of.
Request prospectus' then sign up to audition at some, you'll find the atmosphere and students vary. See which you like best.
