Out of the luxury car brands mentioned in the question - Mercedes-Benz is the most reliable one. There are multiple factors that determine the reliability of a car, they are -Overall build qualityEngineering and technologyConfidence inspiring driving experienceRobust engine and transmissionQuality and timely maintenanceExcellent after-sales and servicesGreat network of dealerships and authorized service centers across the country.Reliable 24X7 emergency breakdown assistanceBeing luxury car brands all of the above-mentioned brands have a majority of this already in place and they are offering these to the customers at a very high quality, yet it is Mercedes-Benz that has the edge over other brands. To know more about anything cars do follow our blog, Facebook, Twitter pages (links to the same mentioned below)AutoGuruAutoGuru | FacebookTwitter - AutoGuruFor any further queries feel free to contact us - autoguru.contactus@gmail.comDisclaimer - The reviews/suggestions/viewpoints given or made by AutoGuru are solely and purely basis market study and analysis. If I were to buy a $90K luxury car, such as a BMW, Tesla, Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati, Audi, Lexus, Land Rover, etc, which would hold the best value after 5 years?

Teslas seem to be holding their value quite well, and that will only get better as Tesla improves their manufacturing prowess.  The only wildcard is the battery - other than that, a Tesla has a 100 year old proven technology for the drive train.  Electric motors have one moving part, vs the 10,000 in a typical internal combustion engine.  No real maintenance is required, compared with the multiple fluids, belts and gaskets in a modern ICE. Preliminary studies and real world experiments suggest that the degradation of the lithium ion cells in a Model S is much less than originally specified. http://www.reddit.com/r/teslamot...Typically, luxury cars take a huge hit in depreciation in the first few years. 50% at 3 years is typical. Teslas are just now coming into the resale market, so we can now start looking at how well they hold their value. Since "maintenance" on a Model S is kind of a joke, buyers don't have to worry too much about oil change frequency or really any of the troublesome subsystems that are found on an ICE.  The fuel delivery and emission control system in an alone in an ICE are more complex than the whole Model S drivetrain.  It's like the difference between vinyl records and  compact disks.  Some people will always like the warm buzz of vacuum tubes and scratches in a record.  But beside hipster cred and manufactured nostalgia, there's not much reason to prefer ICE over EV in the long run.Looking at the Tesla Motors Pre-Owned site, you can get a 3 year old low mileage (just 11,000 miles) Model S P85 for $64,000.  That car new was about $93,000 in that trim. So it's held about 68% of its value. I'll let others do the math for other makes.

How good are land rovers and why are they so expensive?

How good are Land Rovers, look up Desert Storm and SCUD hunters.

They're used by the British military and special forces and by tours and zoologists in Africa. The rest of these guys in here have no common sense whatsoever and have no facts like I do to back up anything they claim. C7S is a known idiot anyways.

Next they'll tell you that the Army uses the Hummer because it needs it's valves tuned every 30 miles and premium motor oil and gas, lol!

Who is porsche's biggest competitor?

This is dependent on which Porsche you're talking about. The Panamera luxury sedan competes with Mercedes Benz AMG, Maseratti, Aston Martin, and the largest BMWs. The entry-level Boxster and Cayman compete with specialty BMWs - the Z and M series cars. The 911 and 911 Turbo compete with Corvette, Corvette ZR1, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R, and Aston Martin. The Cayenne and Cayenna Turbo SUVs compete with Toyota Land Cruiser and with Land Rover. Most of the people I know who own these high end performance cars don't look that favorably on Lamborghini.
ADDED: Forgot the Cadillac CTS-V here competing with the Panamera.

It's hard to say that Porsche "competes" with Audi, Bentley, or Lamborghini since all of these, including now Porsche, are owned by VW Group. The Audi R8 and Audi A8 models are undoubtedly considered by people also looking at 911 Turbos and Panameras, although the R8 is pretty costly against equivalent 911s and the A8 has a rather staid demeanor compared to the Panamera Turbo and Turbo Executive.

The brand new Porsche Macan and Macan Turbo small SUV remains to be "pigeon holed" as to competitors, and the soon to begin delivery Porsche 918 hybrid is such a hyper car that I don't really think it has any competitors except possibly the new Tesla S.

Corvette competes largly on price. The Corvette ZR1, at $110,000, is no performance match for the 911 Turbo S, but the super 911 will run you a minimum of $181,000. An ultra-low production McLaren 12C will match and even outperform, in some regards, the Turbo S, but is spartan by comparison and will cost you nearly a quarter million dollars.
