Landlord Threw My Belongings To The Trash What Can I Do

Landlord threw laundry in trash?

My daughter did her laundry the other night and totally forgot it down in the laundry room. After about 5 days, she remembered she had done laundry so she went down to the laundry room to find her clothes were not in the laundry room anywhere. When we asked the landlord about it, she said she threw them away because they were down there too long. Can she do that? Can I make her reimburs me for the money it cost to buy those clothes?

Can a landlord go through my trash?

The apartment I live in has a terrible trash situation. The dumpsters are placed so you can't get to one of them, and there is always trash piled around the other. The piles get huge, and sometimes it's impossible to place trash IN the dumpster.
I always try to get it in anyway--usually I THROW it in. Last week it was too heavy to throw, though, and I put it on the heap with all the rest of the trash.
The manager went through my trash bag, found my address in it, and is now threatening to fine me. I live in Texas--is it LEGAL for them to go through my trash? If so, do I have any recourse, short of joining a tenant's association, whose fee I can't afford?
Thanks!

Can a landlord move your personal belongings without permission?

I rent an apartment in Iowa and my landlord left a note on everyones door stating that they would be entering within one to two days to check smoke detectors and change filters in each apartment. 3 days after I received the notice, My boyfriend placed his shoes on my doormat outside of the door before entering the apartment and must have left them there. When I came home from work, the shoes were inside my apartment. They also went onto my balcony and brought in the bag of trash that I placed there before I went to work, so my boyfriend could remove it when he came home(I am almost 4 months pregnant). They left me a note saying CANNOT LEAVE SHOES IN HALLWAY AND CANNOT HAVE TRASH ON BALCONY. I don't have a problem with them leaving me a note about it, but is it legal for them to touch any of my property without my permission??

Also they didn't enter my apartment in the timeframe that they mentioned on the original note, is that legal?

Can I get sued for throwing away someone's belongings??????!!?

I could sit here and give you a multitude of legal arguments about this case, so much so that you would want to jump off the roof with worry. But, the long and the short of this case is, you do not have to worry about a thing.O.K so he is going to be P.Od at you for dumping his paperwork, but apart from giving you a good cussing, there is not a lot he can do. So just come clean and tell him that you did some house clearing, you could not locate him, so you dumped the box. Stand back while he is telling you your fortune and that is that.Do not give it one more minute of your time. All of the papers he can get replaced, will cost him a dollar or two but he can get them done.

I have received a thumbs down!!!!
Have you guys that are all so-called experts never heard of the rules of abandonment? This property was abandoned and as such this person has nothing to worry about. Try leaving your suit at the dry cleaners or your car in the workshop for a year and see if it is still there when you come back.

Why does my husband feel entitiled to throw out my belongings?

I am 62, and my husband is always throwing away stuff that is mine, if he thinks it's unnecessary. Like mail he thinks is trash, or pens, boxes, plastic containers, he would even like to throw out some of my clothes he doesn't like or thinks is dated.. just items that he thinks should be thrown out. He's not a neat freak, but he asks me all time, what do you want tho throw out. He is actually thrilled when he goes to the dump. I know it sounds silly, and I don't think it will change, so I want to know what could the underlying issues be? Why does he do this? he once threw out a bunch of shirts that his sister had hanging in a basement because he thought she had too many. Does he do this with his stuff? No..basically because he thinks that everything he has is appropriate or necessary. It's like an addiction...truly.. no matter how many times we talk about it, he can't resist. He cannot stop himself...What is this? I'm not asking for how to stop him; I'm asking what is the mental or emotional issues that cause this?

Can my landlord throw my stuff away?

Hello.

I got behind in a month of the rent, my landlord and I had a verbal agreement on Saturday that I would pay it by Wednesday. I was staying at a friends at downtown for the weekend (the unit I rent was in the suburbs) so in the next day I asked a friend of mine, that is my neighbour and has a car to pick up some clothes for me. I texted my landlord and said that this friend was AUTHORIZED to get into my place to grab clothes for me. She also had the key.

When she got at the apartment, the landlord and his wife made a scene. Said that would call the police and that Taylor, my friend, couldn't take anything out of the unit, even though I let them before. They took ALL my belongings, documents, credit cards, photos, personal products and my clothes and put everything inside of their van. Said that would give back to me when I pay them. They also took the key from Taylor, locking me outside the unit. They took pictures of her and recorded the conversation they had with her without her knowing.

I never said I wouldn't pay, all I asked them was to wait until Wednesday, was ALWAYS in touch, and we had a deal. After that I said I would only pay in court, because was not necessary to do the scene they did, specially because I let them know that someone would drop by. After saying that, they changed their "acts", pretended that nothing happened and tried to be friendly again. I found out that it's because they made me sign a 3-years lease, when it's not even legal here...

Today I got a text from the landlord saying that they have my stuff and will trash them out. Not even a week has passed since they locked me out of the unit.

I would like to know if it's legal for them to take all my belongings and if it's legal for them to trash them out.

I did NOT abandon the unit, I had my computer, furniture and family documents on it. I was just staying the weekend at my friends house.

I was kicked out of my rental, now the landlord won’t let me go back and get my stuff, is he legally allowed to keep my belongings?

It depends on what state you live in, what your lease says, and whether it’s a residential or commercial lease. It also depends on what you mean by “kicked out of my rental”.In Texas, you can’t just be “kicked out” of a residential rental. You must get your Due Process, which means an eviction trial, and if you still don’t leave on your own after the landlord gets a judgment for possession and back rent, a Writ Of Possession is issued. There’s no problem getting Your Stuff, because the landlord shows up on your doorstep with a Deputy Constable, locksmith, and moving crew.No problem getting to Your Stuff, because it’s all stacked out at the nearest public property, which is generally the street in front of a house, and left there for 24 hours for you to get it moved somewhere or find it hauled off as abandoned trash.I haven’t heard of a state where getting “kicked out” is much different, though it takes longer in some states.Once in a while I see a landlord jump the gun, and move the tenant’s stuff out before getting a writ of possession. That can become a legal can of worms, but again, there’s no problem with the tenant getting his belongings… the landlord put them all out of his house so he could begin getting it ready for a new tenant.
