Laptop Reset For Windows 8 Help

How long is it supposed to take to reset an HP Windows 8 laptop to original factory settings?

So I started the process of resetting my HP Pavilion G6 windows 8 laptop about 2 and a half hours ago and it seems to be very slow. It is only 13% and is nowhere near to be finished resetting. Is this normal is it supposed to take this long? Someone told me it would only take around 45 minutes.

Cannot reset windows 10 laptop to factory new. Help?

"There was a problem refreshing your PC, No changes were made"

I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.

I intended to reset my laptop to its factory new state so that I may enjoy it being a little bit quicker, but this is clearly just a time-consuming ****-fest that a windows user has no business encountering.

I believe there are corrupt/missing registry keys (OR SOMETHING MISSING??) which keeps me from clean-slating my laptop. I have tried just about everything within my power and I am absolutely pissed off with windows 10 right now!

I'm no tech genius but through the things I have tried, SFC scan didn't do **** because of my corrupted whatevers WOULDN'T EVEN ALLOW ME TO SCAN MY DAMN LAPTOP. Instituting a new file directory for a recovery image of windows 10 didn't do jack **** (i.e. "install.wim"). And I've scanned my system with a multitude of virus whatever-the-****-you-can-think-of's.

And quite frankly, my last resort is to go to a professional, because I ******* give up.

If you have any suggestions before I consult with one, please, by all means, be my saving grace.

A2AIt only generally works if no new partition  is made after purchasing the laptop(confirmed for lenovo laptops)It also depends on the make of the laptop. For lenovo:1. Press the novo key (the small button generally present below the charging socket)3. The laptop will start and a menu will appear. Choose 'One-key recovery'.4. Revovery wizard will open which will guide you through the process.Hope this helps :)

How do I factory reset windows 8.1?

I went to settings and then update and recovery. When I select "Remove everything and reinstall Windows" I get an error message saying, There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made. What should I do?

Once I've installed Windows 10, if I have to factory reset my laptop, will it revert to Windows 8.1 or stay on Windows 10?

Depends on which method of factory reset you use.If you use the recovery media, it will install the version that came with the laptop and it will behave exactly the same as if you had just bought and unboxed it. In this case, Koundinya Upadhyayula's answer is right. If you use the built-in reset functionality (from the modern Settings app), you will get a clean install of Windows 10. Your laptop will behave as if you had just bought it, too, but this time, it came with Windows 10. In this case, Paul Olaru's answer is right.
