Can you be in the Air Force Reserves with an MIP charge on record?

I'm 18 and I have gotten an MIP (minor in possession) charge and just have to pay a fine. However, I really want to be in the Air Force but I'm in college. Am I able to be in the Air Force reserves with that charge on my record?
-Thanks-

Can I join the Army with an underage possession of alcohol charge?

Yes, as long as it's closed out. The Army regulation for recruiting states that underage drinking is a minor non-traffic offense and doesn't require a waiver. However, if you still owe a fine or have other obligations to the court that will need to be taken cared of before you can enlist.

Minor in possession of alcohol in military?

If you don't tell them and if the Judge puts you on probation or gives you some kind of community service, what are you going to do? Especially with a deployment coming up...You need to tell your Chief so that he/she doesn't get blindsided with this. Will it mean automatic CO's mast? I don't know, but I imagine that it may at least result in a "chit-chat" with the XO. That will be after the Chiefs get done chewing your butt in the mess for a while at your DRB. If you try to hide it and get caught, I can guarantee that you will be talking to the Old Man and NOBODY will be willing to "go to bat" for you...As it stands right now you may (best case) be looking at a wrist slap, butt chewing, EMI and visit with a CA AC counselor or Command DAPA...It depends on the Command and how "good" of a Sailor you are.

Good Luck, and the paragaph below is from OPNAVINST 5350.4D

All personnel are responsible for their personal decisions relating to alcohol and drug use and are fully accountable for any substandard performance or illegal acts resulting from such use. Members arrested for alcohol-related offense by civil authority (i.e., DUI/DWI, public intoxication, disorderly conduct), shall promptly notify their commanding officer. Failure to do so constitutes an offense punishable under reference (b), article 92.

Will I be kicked out of the national guard for a minor misdemeanor and will they find out about it.?

I enlisted in the national guard back in May and I am going to basic as a combat medic in November. I recently received a minor misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. I want to know if the guard will find out about that or not because I have to wait a year before I can get it expunged off my record. I already went through Meps and they did a back ground check on me and all that but will they do it again? Would they find out? And if they did would I be dishonorably discharged?

Can I be an Army Guard MP with one dismissed misdemeanor charge on my record?

My moronic friends were carrying a dime bag of weed around when we were stopped two years ago and nobody claimed it, so we were all charged with marijuana possession charges, I was 15 at the time. It was a minor charge and was dismissed after watching 4 hours of municipal court proceedings and writing an essay on what I observed, as punishment. The charge still shows on record at the military's request, my recruiter told me MP wouldn't even take a person if they have a traffic ticket on record. Even though I overqualified for 31B on the ASVAB, finished my full physical yesterday, have a waiver going in and 31B is almost always available in the NJ guard, he told me to pick something else because there's no hope for it. I still haven't chosen my top 3 jobs to discuss with the Army Guard interviewer at the MEPS site when I sign my contract and take the oath. Which I'm planning sometime in the next two weeks. I trust my recruiter, so far he's been completely honest about everything during this process, I'm just hoping he might have it wrong in this one instance, I'm was seriously looking forward to MP.

Can you join the US Military with an MIP (Minor in Possession)?

If that MIP charge is for any type of controlled substance then he cannot join unless the charge gets dismissed or found not guilty. If it gets dismissed then there can't be any stipulations attached, such as dismissed on the condition they go to drug rehab or something similar.

The disorderly conduct isn't a big deal as long as it is a misdemeanor or lower.

Regardless of what happens, he can't join while on probation and he can't join if he has a felony conviction. For both charges, there is a difference between being charged and being convicted. By being charged he can't join right now anyway due to having a pending charge and has to wait until everything is done.

Military vets, meps, past drug charges?

Ok so Im 20 years old and have commited a charge of a misdemeanor possession of marijuanwhen I was 13 years old. Since then I've moved around different cities ( at least three different cities) and since then only have had two other minor traffic violations; one failure to yield, one failure to control. My recruiter told me to lie about ny drug charge .since I have moved around different citie., he says thatit would be more difficult for meps to track it unless they go back all my life. I'm afraid to lie to meps. cause all I wanna do is serve my country... Put in my twenty and serve.. anyone that has military background, military police, ect.. thankyyou all for your time

What military branch can I get into with 4 public intoxication charges and a mip?

4 Public Intoxications and 1 Minor in Possession. last offense committed just 7 short months ago?

You will be branded a person that "Abuses alcohol" in the army. The military has seen a rise in alcohol abuse and it costs million of dollars to try and "fix those issues"

I highly doubt your chances will be good because on 4 seperate incidences you did not learn from your mistakes, nor have you entered into a program at any time to fix your "drinking problem".

The AG states "The Adjudicative Guidelines states that “Excessive alcohol consumption often leads to the exercise of questionable judgment or the failure to control impulses, and can raise questions about an individual’s reliability and trustworthiness.” Simply stated, alcohol abusers are more likely than others to engage in careless or impulsive behavior that can create an increased risk of unauthorized disclosure of classified information. "

Problem is not recent Absent any current indications of abuse, serious problems that occurred 2 to 5 years ago (depending on seriousness/number and change in drinking habits/lifestyle) may no longer be an issue
