Layover Surprise: boyfriend pickup at airport?

Your question is NOT clear. Do you mean that you will drive from CT to EWR to get him, and you will both drive back to CT?

In that case - does he have ANY checked luggage? If so, then that WILL go to Bradley Field and some one will have to go get it anyway. In addition, he will NOT get any refund for that last missed segment.

IF, and <>, this is the first part of a round trip ticket that takes him from Bradley back to somewhere else, then THE RETURN SEGMENTS WILL BE CANCELLED when he does not board the flight!! Really, and he will have to buy a new ticket.

Personally - I would not take an 8+ hour round trip drive just to do that. It's wonderfully romantic and so on, but costs a lot in tolls, gas and time.

EDIT: If you are simply going to drive for 4 hours in order to see him for a couple of hours at EWR, there is no problem. Security will not care AS LONG AS he has the boarding pass for the EWR to Bradley flight.

He will have to leave the secure area to meet with you, then go back through the security check afterward. you MUST be certain to leave plenty of time to get through the line again so he does not miss the plane.

Since he will arrive in Bradley a couple of hours <> you can possibly drive back there - what exactly is the point of seeing him in EWR?

What is going to happen when he deplanes in CT and you are still 90 minutes away, fighting traffic on your way up I-95 and I-91? Is he going to wait for you to pick him up, or get a taxi or a ride with someone else? Will you be in a good mood after another 4 hour drive around or through the NYC area? Will you have any energy left when you get back home?

This is cute and sweet, but terribly impractical.

Surprise visit to boyfriend.. Good idea?

We're a long-distance couple and we've been together for about 3 years. We don't get to see each other very often. Recently, we got into a bit of an argument over the fact that he is almost always the one flying to see me and I'm rarely able to pay for a ticket to go see him. It kind of hurt me that he's frustrated over this because I am a full time student and I also work part time, so it is really beyond my control. He is a few years older than me and works a couple days a week in a restaurant, but doesn't have any other obligations.

Anyway, I have a few days off of school next month and I was planning to scrounge up all the money I possibly can and fly to see him in his country.. without mentioning it to him beforehand. I know his work schedule and I'd have a small layover before getting to where he lives, so I intend to message him while I'm in the airport and ask him how work's going, then I'll show up outside of where he works when his shift is over. Does this sound like a nice idea?

My parents want to come at airport to see me off. How long can they stay after I enter the airport? Can I come back to meet them after I have checked my baggage in?

In India you can’t come out after checking in. Perhaps in most countries. You can come out only if denied boarding for various reasons or due to cancellation of flight.I don’t think it’s a big security concern than administrative concerns. Though your check in baggage has been sent in, your cabin bag is still subject to security check along with personal frisking. But after getting a boarding pass, if you are allowed to go out, you may create unnecessary hassles for the airline and security. You must understand already there are long Queues and you will only be adding to the rush. You must check in one hour before your fight departure for domestic flight and 3 hours before international flight and if delayed you may be denied boarding. If you have done online check in, then you can go a bit late. So never take the risk. See off your parents before that time and once you are through all procedures you can call them and talk. In some smaller airports it’s even (eg Mangalore) possible to see them through glass panes. In nigeria though it’s possible. At least in domestic airports. You can check in, collect your boarding pass and still go out. Security doesn’t ask for your ticket before you enter the lobby as long as you are carrying travel bags with you. Of course your bags have to pass through security scanners. Not long before it was free for all. Any Tom, Dick and Harry could have entered the check in lobby.

Is my girlfriend Manipulative (BPD) or is it me?

I'm currently in a smiliar situation. My girlfriend has all the signs of BPD but has not been diagnosed. From your story, your girl seems perfectly sane compared to mine. I've been physically abused, subjected to suicide threats, and even been arrested under false pretenses. I know how difficult it is to leave as even under the extreme circumstances ive been dealing with i can't do it primarily because we have 5 month old twins.

I would say that if this is the worst it's gotten for you after 4-5 years, it isn't too bad and itsn ot BPD.

Can you sleep in an airport if you just arrived and don't have a flight the next day? Is it safe, and is it even allowed?

This is definitely possible, so long as you look like a tourist.Over the last four years I've managed to sleep in three airports without a ticket nor a boarding pass, and this was before going through security.  Unlike some of the other answers here, I wasn't hassled at all by security in all the times I've done this. The first time I did this was in Porto, Portugal on Easter Sunday in 2012.  Yes. I actually took a picture of the airport during my stay there.I ended up arriving a day before my friend was able to accommodate me at his place up in Braga, around an hour away.  Because it didn't make sense to pay for a hostel bed, I spent the night at the city's airport. (Of course, as a consequence my camera was stolen — the first and so far only time that happened to me at an airport.  Oh well.)The second time I did this was in Warsaw, back in 2014.  I had no place to stay after two nights in the hostel, so I decided to rough it out for a night before moving into a friend's place.  Aside from the humming noise of the floor polishers, it wasn't so bad, and the people there certainly didn't mind. The third and latest time I did this was later that year, in San Francisco.I arrived late and couldn't check in until the next day, so with my suitcase in tow I spent the night at the arrivals section.  It's unusual to be here at night, though I did manage to speak to a couple of Filipinos who were also roughing it here.  Early the next morning I hopped on the BART with no hassles whatsoever, although I did have to figure out how on Earth to use the bathroom when in the wee hours of the morning they were almost all closed. That said, your mileage may vary according to the airport you're in.  With respect to JFK, I've slept there after security (as I was connecting from Toronto via Atlanta back to Pittsburgh), but not before, so I can't really comment on it.  So far the airports I've been in have been quite accommodating towards people staying the night.  Others may not be, but I hope I won't have to encounter them soon.  Hopefully JFK will be able to accommodate you somehow, especially if you're in one of the newer terminals.
